      I remember loads of dislikes and comments from people who were saying things like 'OMG what's the pont of this, you could've given that laptop to me!@!£!' and actually being serious/not joking... I always hated the stupidity of those comments and the dislikes. Like it or not these videos were important consumer advice. It's always nice to know how durable/fragile a piece of tech is.

      Hands down my favourite era of UA-cam. UA-cam started going downhill from 2015 onwards and the adpocalypse killed it for good. It's a shame that young people today/in the future will never know how incredible UA-cam was back in the day.

    The reason it didn't survive the water test is because of the battery. The device still fully functioned it's just that the battery broke.

      I does work if you plug it in

    • @wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20
      @wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20 10 років тому +5

      The battery broke and there may be other kind of damage that is just not visible.
      I have dropped many mobile phones in water. All of them usually start after drying, but other kind of nasty problems appear. Speaker stopped working in one, and other got sensitivy problems with keys. So there is very likely some damage somewhere even tough it boots up.
      If the electronics isn't water proof, don't put it in water. :/

    • @janiscena3126
      @janiscena3126 9 років тому

      Teddy C that's because the power cord is giving the energy for the computer to work. The only thing that the battery is doing is charging (what it isn't doing in this case cause it's broken.

    really lady...when someone accidentally knocks water on the laptop they immediately pick the cup up and start drying it. She let is sit for a good minute or two. Second, i'm sure if she did the "rice trick" it would have done a better job getting the water out. My 3 year old macbook air survived, 2 juice spills, 1 coffee spill and a jealous 10 year old sister dumping water on it...so yea.

    • @stormraven201
      @stormraven201 10 років тому +1

      I wasn't even allowed on the computer unless it was homework, my mother would sit in the living room with me just to make sure i was't on anything else. I think i'm being more fair then the way i was raised. At least they can still play games and watch things on it, It won't be just for homework. Besides, those computers are expensive, if they save money and buy it on there own thats on them, but i personally wouldn't buy them one until college.

      I dont care about the hungry they can help themselves why is it people expect others to do things for them

    • @AllmmurrA
      @AllmmurrA 10 років тому +7

      Enrique Vera Actually in 90% of the cases they can't. They live in poverty, no jobs, no education, nothing. They don't expect the help. But it is ridiculous, she could have donated the $600+ to a charity and fed people who can't do anything to help themselves, as they have no jobs or any method of getting a job.

    • @miladk.2064
      @miladk.2064 10 років тому +8

      AmazingJessicaa Thomas Those children do not deserve $600 in free funds from a complete stranger. I don't care that they are living in poverty, I don't care that they have no jobs, I don't care that they don't have an education. 90% of the money donated goes straight into the bank accounts of the people working at the charity organization. This video is well worth its $1000 price tag as it provides more than enough entertainment and educational value. Not to mention they probably made more than enough to cover the price of the macbook. How about YOU actually help them by purchasing plane tickets to Africa?

    • @AllmmurrA
      @AllmmurrA 10 років тому +3

      Mo K. How will purchasing a plane ticket to Africa help? I'm pretty sure the money donated to legitimate charities is appreciated, how do they not deserve it? Who deserves the $600 more? A woman who obviously has enough money to waste, or people who can't afford to buy anything?

      ***** If you want to push it to the limit, push the cpu and gpu to max load, and see if its processors have throttled themselves or overheated. That would be more relevant (to most people) than leaving it in a freezer or putting it under a heat lamp for a few hours. The only realistic and relevant test they did here is to drop the thing.

Secondly though, sometimes people rush, are stressed out, or just not being mindful at the time and do things they maybe shouldn't (like forgetting you left your laptop in the car) ;)

    why everybody saying african children are dying from hunger and she is playing with a 1000 dollars macbook? I don't get it. because you can say the same thing for those who have pets at home. instead of buying expensive food for a dog or for a cat why don't you give it to africans? or why do you go to restaurant? you can cook the same meal for a less amount of money and pay the rest to hungry people. but the world doesn't work like this!

      I've been trying really really hard to keep myself from getting into disputes on youtube as it's mostly just a waste of time but, I feel like I needed to address this one because anyone who can see the sense in the point you're trying to make should also be sensible enough to see this point of view I'm trying to convey.
      Yes, you have some valid points, but some of the points don't validate your case.
      The first sentence: obvious over exaggeration. But by now most people know that people who talk in that sort of way don't mean it, it's just a figure of speech, so let's move on.
      Second sentence: Based on the "everybody" mentioned in the first sentence, those "everybodies" are people of high compassion. Why would they want to take the life a loved one, regardless of the being, for a stranger?
      3rd and 4th sentence: People have varying degrees to their own views and beliefs, on politics, religion and all sorts of things. Some don't care about things, while others care a little, and even others have strong views and beliefs, but only few are extremists. Even though not all are extremists people have an urge to express their beliefs if they feel it is the right thing to do.
      And to the last statement: It doesn't apply because it misses the bigger picture. The relatively small sacrifice required for the advancement of science and technology can progress the well being of many more.
      TL:DR version:
      ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
      Yes at times, it may seem the cries for the starving children seem perpetual. But these cries often come from people who are compassionate, though their compassion may come in varying levels, they all come together to make a generalized statement.
      and the statement seems to be:
      "We may not be perfect, but we try to be good.
      We don't always do the right things, but we try to do as we should.
      We may not be the most compassionate, but at least we try to be considerate.
      We may be insignificant, but we have the potential to create change."
      ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

    • @Lucky8s
      @Lucky8s 9 років тому +3

      ***** Exposing a device to any sort of cold is a risk since it may frost slightly, and then when you enter a warm place, moisture builds up. Some people might be tired after a long day and forget their belongings in the car, then it really needs to protect itself from the climate. You're extremely narrow minded and you can't think of things outside the box, which makes you the dipshit in this case.

    >Drop a macbook and it dents
    >Drop a thinkpad and it dents the floor
    I think we have a true winner here.

      +Jack Dorl stupid thing to compare since one is made from aluminum and one from plastic. One bends other cracks.

    • @Reboobed

      Except thinkpads are made with military grade plastic. The plastic on a thinkpad just barely chips while a macbook is damaged irreparably.

      Great since only thing that can go wrong with dropped electronics is messed up casing... Even though my motherboard says it's military grade I won't go around throwing it on the ground. Also dents in aluminum are not irreparable.

      Uh, I dropped my MacBook Air and it wedged between the floor boards, and second of all, I'd rather have a a metal built machine (aluminum) than plastic

      Jack Dorl Chipping!?!? Are you seriously saying you'd prefer a material that chips over a material that is malleable?

    heres what happened to me: in a fit or rage i slammed the lid on my Macbook Air 13 shut and the screen went all fuzzy. Somehow that managed to crack it which was a surprise to me because i thought the aluminium body would make it sturdy. Boy was i wrong

    Is there a reason why I don't see any tests with hardware other than apple? This can be taken two ways, Apple is the only hardware that will survive " that I believe to be the case" because it is the best OS and Hardware hands down. The other would be that the non apple hardware like this junk list, "Dell,HP, Compaq, Gateway," simply cant take it at all even the first test. I think so.

      The OS is no indicator on wether the hardware will survive. But it is impressive it survived everything except the water test.
