There is a stove sort of like that I want to get from an army surplus place. It sure would make winter camping more fun. Thanks for this video
Hi Tressa, I went back and fourth for months on a few options. Ended up deciding to get this one for a good balance between cost and durability. There are much lighter ones but they're more costly and I question how long-lasting they would be. I'm beyond excited to fire this up in the tent.
Great review, I like how in depth your reviews are, I like that you showing the manual. Great video my friend 👏👏👍
Thanks! It's fun doing gear reviews and unboxing videos. I wanted to include the manual on the off chance someone didn't get one and saw the video. They can pause it and see the steps at a glance. Honestly, it was super easy to assemble. You probably don't even need a manual.
Perfect addition to the new tent!
Thank you Franky! I'm excited to get it out and use in the colder temperatures. I'm trying to plan some weekends when the kids can come too. I Want to try some December and January trips.
Very cool! That should keep you warm and provide the cooking of some great meals too! Awesome! Bruce and Otis
Thanks Bruce and Otis. I hope you're feeling better my friend.
Nice peace of equipment, nice review. Thank you for sharing and wishing you a lovely week 👍
Thanks for checking out my channel. How did you come across in, if you don't mind me asking?
Awesome assembly walk through and review! Thanks for always being awesome!
Thanks Jason, I was impressed at how easy the whole thing was to set up and it was nice that it pretty much came with everything I need. I might add a few screws to screw together chimney sections (if it's windier) and I might add a shovel to scoop out the ashes but otherwise it's a pretty complete set! You can also buy an add on hot water heater that bolts on the side. I skipped it though because I think the water would add too much humidity in that tent which would be a problem in both summer and winter.
This is a really good run through Dan. Nicely done video.
Thank you AJ! It's a tank. 73 lbs is heavy! But hopefully that means it will last! Looking forward to putting this thing to the test. Can't wait tonget that hot tent cozy and warm.
Looks awesome, thanks for the review, we cant wait for hot tent season
Thanks! Trying out the combo of the tent and stove this week. Overnight temps have been just under freezing. I've used the stove a few times in the tent and the pair has worked really well!
Pretty neat stove! Great job putting it together Dan! Happy Hunting! Great video 👍
Thanks Jun!!! Appreciate your support as always!!!
That damper looked tricky getting in 😉. Solid looking stove. Looking forward to seeing it being used in the tent. Great video Dan👊
Hey Chris, it was straightforward once I figured out how the pin locked into the damper. Hard to film down the pipe while installing it. The tent and stove should be a good combo. I'm looking forward to putting it to work.
Great video, very inspiring! Thanks for sharing good work! I wish you a wonderful day!💗💐
Thanks for dropping in and saying hello. If you liked the video, please do me a favour and subscribe to help me with my goals and to keep in touch.
Nice looking stove good quality and came with stuff that some call accessories.
Absolutely! It was nice to not have to add stove pipes and things. The warming racks are neat too. This unit has an optional side mounted hot water tank. I don't think it interests me since the water boiling would add alot of steam and humidity in the tent but it's a cool option to have.
@@DCOutdoors right. I never thought about the humidity aspect dang just put a pot on and heat water as needed. Good stuff thanks 👍
Pretty sweet stove there, can't wait to see it in action!
I can't wait! Hoping for some overnighters in it in a few weeks. It should keep camp cozy!
@@DCOutdoors good call, you'll need it. It's been chilly overnight!
Nice review. I just inherited that same stove when my dad passed away, but haven't fired it up yet. Hoping to this winter.
It gets really good reviews. I hope it performs well. Did your dad use his often?
looks like great quality, nice and heavy parts
It is very heavy but you're right - good quality! Solid steel takes a while for the stove to feel hot to the touch but then it does a good job radiating heat even when the fire burns down. I had it so hot on the last trip though that the stove was glowing red, so I had to throttle down the air flow to slow the burn.
Nice looking stove and great review. Can't wait to see you put it to the test over the winter time. Nice job!!!
As lame as it sounds I'm finding myself day dreaming of using it. It's going to make hunting camp much more comfortable.
wow that looks very nice and useful, take care
Thank you! It does a wonderful job heating the tent! I've been quite happy with it so far.
wow that looks very nice, great video, i can not afford such things so i make what i need, i made a great wood burning oven out of a barrel a few years ago
That's a great idea. I've seen people make them out of old barrels, propane tanks or even ammo cans. If I had the tools, I might have gone that route but for the cost of tools plus time I'm ok with saving for this.
The main thing with it is to wait and not pay regular price. They always drop to this sale price a couple times per year.
Thanks for watching Dan and have a good weekend!
Fantastic review. I'd buy one if I hunted. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Bonnie, it should make hunting camp more cozy! Can't wait to put it to use.
Looks like a nice stove. Thanks for the video brother
Thank you Mark! I'm super pumped. Been saving and waiting for it to come on sale for months. So far I'm happy with it but the true test while come when I need it to keep me warm on those -20'c to -30'c nights.
Great unboxing and review video Dan. That stove is awesome and it's going to keep you warm for sure and it will be very practical for food.
I'm anxious to see it in action on your hunting trip! 👍
Thanks Henri, I keep daydreaming of laying on the cot and watching the fire flicker in the stove. Can't wait!
nice looking stove, i love wood burning stoves, good luck with it bro!👍👍
Thank you!!! Super pumped to fire it up in the tent. It's going to make fall and winter camping super cozy!!!
Great looking stove dude thanks for sharing this
Thanks Bryan. Should be toasty roasty in there this fall during hunting camp. Can't wait to fire it up in the tent.
Looks like you will have a sweet set up 👍
Tha k's for watching George. Hoping this video helps someone who is looking at the stove to make a decision. Do far I'm happy but time will be the real test.
One of the few things I haven’t gotten into yet is hot tent camping. It looks like such a good time. Thanks for the unboxing. I definitely want something like this. Well done!
Thank you so much! Last year I spent a ton of time using my ice fishing tent as a fall/winter tenting option for hunting season. I heated it with a little buddy propane heater. I wanted something bigger and more comfortable. This stove definitely helps and the Alaknak tent I got is like a mini cabin. It makes hunting camp much more comfortable! Thanks for watching and leaving a note. If you get a chance, try hot tent camping. No bugs in winter/fall!
great looking design i think i will build one like that, take care
The only major flaw I have so far is that only two of the legs have holes drilled through them where the little wingnut can screw right through the place where the legs sit. This means that two of the legs screw on tightly and the others can be flimsy. I think they intended it that way so you can adjust the other two legs (since there isn't a hole for the wingnut to go through) you can adjust the length on uneven ground. However, when you carry it, the legs slip off which can be a pain to set the thing back down - since it weighs like 70 lbs.
This one was realy great. Love it.
Angel😇
Thanks Angel. I have a fun time putting together product reviews and unboxing videos. I hope the video helps someone make a decision about getting the stove.
That stove is cool. I’d like one just for the backyard. Great video!
Thanks buddy! I used mine on a few winter camping trips ( I have a few videos if you're interested), it's working awesome. I see you have a channel too - heading over to check you out? I hope you consider subscribing here. How'd you hear about me by the way?
@@DCOutdoors yes sir. Already subbed you. John @Salt Pepper and Fire gave you a mention.
Oh sweet! Thanks for taking him up on his suggestion. Love his channel!
Hi Dan. That is a pretty cool stove. Looks like it will for sure take the chill out, in a hot tent. Little heavy to carry very far. But small enough to haul in your truck pretty easy. Great video, bud!!
Hey Tracy, yes this is a TANK! Not something that you'd be able to carry far. I think I can drag it on my sled if I need to set camp away from the truck. This thing is heavy just to lug up and set in the tailgate! When I tested it out it retained heat for a while so I think the solid steel helps that out - I hope it performs well here in hunting camp. I booked a week of vacation in October and another week in November so I'll definitely be putting this thing to the test.
Great job buddy with the review
Thank you John! Appreciate you watching and leaving a note. Have an awesome weekend.
Definitely a solid stove Dan. A lot of these style stoves don’t come with a flat top so that’s a huge advantage for all the cooking you will be doing on there. Excellent review Brother!
Absolutely! It has a lot of cooking space and I think the warming racks will be handy. You can add on a water heater tank too as an option. I didn't get it as I think the humidity wouldn't be great in the tent but a cool option too!
Wow great work great sharing 💛🤝
Thank you. I think you're new here so if you liked the video please consider subscribing so we can keep in touch.
That's killer man. Definitely interested in how well this works. I've got one made from a 55 gallon drum in my basement and it'll put off some heat. I'm sure you'd be just fine.
Well idk about -20 wow
It can definitely get cold near the end of the November. We'll see!!!
When I tested it , the stove seemed to retain heat for a few hours after. I had to leave it easily 4-5 hours before I could pick it up to move it out of the yard and put it in the garage. I hope that the heat retention helps for those overnights so I don't have to stoke the fire as much. Can't wait to get it fired up in the tent. I have a week vacation in October and a second week in November for deer hunting so I can't wait to get it all set up.
Those are fantastic stoves, definitely on my list to get Big Like 39 Full Support🔔🔔

Good review.

Thanks Kritika! It's fun making the unboxing and review videos. I hope that the video helps people make a decision on whether or not they should buy it. So far I like it, time will be the real test.
Those are fantastic stoves, definitely on my list to get
I hope it performs as good as I think it will. I'll keep you posted!!

Looks like a nice stove that will serve you well. Looking forward to seeing the set up and use when the weather turns.
Thanks ! Maybe it's odd to say but I'm looking forward to some cold temperatures to see how it does. I'll definitely keep you posted!
@@DCOutdoors I know what you mean, I just picked up a 0 degree sleeping bag I want to give a try.
I may have to pick one up
I was comparing it to some of the titanium ones but this is priced alot better but unfortunately it's super heavy. I'm likely using this near the truck anyways so don't mind the added weight in lieu of saving money and having something durable.
Very good video thank so much nice video
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it. It might be one of the first times I've seen you around so thanks for leaving a note. Hope to see you back around the channel.
What a great stove (had to build mine) that is a very good investment Dan thanks for the review CYU
I was on the fence of a few options including building one. Couldn't go wrong here. Felt the price and quality were reasonable. Hoping it provides years of use.
@@DCOutdoors Ubet I started with a 10X12 woods tent and a wood heater we used it for hunting and fishing. it eventually evolved to the one I use today. such great times you well have videos to watch Perfect Dan CYU
Thanks for sharing brother God bless you
Thank you for the ongoing support. Have a good week.

nice looking unit
Thanks my friend. Can't wait to fire it up inside the hot tent. Should make for cozy nights during the hunting season.
@@DCOutdoors yea will be toasty warm for sure
Very nice stove
Thank you!!! I hope it performs great in the field. If it does it should be a cozy addition to camp.
This stove is 260 U.S. on amazon and has 5 months interest free financing for prime members I guess. I'm gonna get it.
Awesome! That sounds like a good deal. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
Freaking sweet Dan
Haha thanks Mike. It should give off enough heat to warm up a low sodium ration. 😅
Looks like a decent stove. Camp Chef makes some good quality camping equipment. You should stay toasty warm in the tent this fall Dan.
I'm hoping it last well. I think the thick steel should retain a lot of heat. It took hours to cool down to the touch so I could move it after the fire went out. Hopefully this is a more comfortable option as opposed to living in an ice tent with a Mr Buddy heater.
Have you been out for Grouse yet?
That's nice
Thank you!!!
Hi new subscriber here 👍 , good video my friend and a nice bit of kit to , hope all is good with you ATB Rob 👍💯💯
Thanks for dropping in and becoming a friend. I am absolutely looking forward to firing up this stove in my tent. Should make for a cozy fall/winter camping season.
awesome stove!! 😆👍
Thanks ! And big thanks to watching the Live premiere!!! You're the best!
@@DCOutdoors 😁 You da best DC!! 🏆
Just open mine to cure the holes in the unit for the kegs were not drilled luckily it didn't get my toes when the legs fell off and none of my pipes fits all warped
Hey Candace, two of my legs aren't drilled through either. I think it's intentional so you can adjust the length of the legs for uneven ground. It is annoying to carry as the legs can sometimes slide off. My pipes were tight. I found that lining up the stove pipe seams definitely help. Remember the pipe that's the narrowest has the damper. They all stack up from there with the next longest going on and so far. I tapped my pipes together lightly with a piece of firewood to get each with about an inch or two overlap. Try those tips and let me know if it helps.
Just think of all the coffee I could brew on top of that thing!
LOL I'm thinking the same thing! Not sure if I'm going to go with the old school Cowboy Perc, or my little espresso stove pot - or instant coffee. Either way I dream of getting that morning fire going and making coffee in there. Cheers Buddy!
the flat top would be nice for cooking
Absolutely, when I used it on the last trip I didn't cook in the tent since bears/cougars are still out and about and I don't like cooking inside the tent. However, if I use it later in the winter, I might give it a try! The side warmers were helpful to warm up and dry boots. I did use it to boil a bit of water and heat up coffee a couple mornings which was nice and convenient.
Nice
Thanks Dave, I gave consideration to the ones you recommended to me a while back but opted for this one since it was cheaper. Although heavier , I hope that makes it durable and long lasting.
Awsome stove. Still sucses bro👍👍
Thank you! It's a pretty heavy-duty piece of gear. I hope that it last a long time for me and I'm really hoping that the solid steel design will retain a ton of heat to keep me warm all night. I've booked off a week of vacation in October and a second week of vacation in November so I'll be doing a lot of fall camping and putting the tent and stove to the test.
Again, thanks for watching and see you on the next one!
Will keep you toasty and handy stove for winter and summer eh?
Absolutely!!! I'll get good use of it. Will probably camp up to two weeks this fall while hunting so I'll put it through its paces.
$329! 73 lbs! Are those Canadian pounds? It also looks like it’s going to take up some floor space. Maybe you can find a fireplace mat to put underneath. It looks very capable of heating up your tent. The free fire starter was nice. Looking forward to seeing your after action report.
Hey Mark, 73lbs or 33 kilograms. It's a heavy beast. I bought a couple welders blankets. One will go under the stove and one likely behind to keep the walls and floor safe. I think it should do well enough in a 10 foot x 10 foot tent.
@@DCOutdoors 👍 I didn’t even think about welding blankets.
She burns🔥🔥🔥👍
She definitely does!!!
@@DCOutdoors might get one of those for ice fishing season
@@albertapikewalleye6833 I'm thinking of using it in the ice tent too. I may even see if I can cut a hole and use it on the garage.
@@DCOutdoors prolly cook some good meals on that thing too i bet👍
Hope so. Or definitely some water warming to cook MREs haha.
Boy I like it but 73 lbs. 😰 I think I gotta get my strength built back up a bit more or figure a way to put wheels on it 🤔
Really nice looking stove
It's very, very heavy and super bulky. I hope that means that it's made well and will last a lifetime. I might build some carrying bag or system for it so it's easier to deal with.
@@DCOutdoors you know I went to a warehouse sale or some kind of sale back in the day and they had these really nice heavy duty plastic containers that transported some kinda camera gear or some sort of thing and in every size imaginable. All were used but sold incredibly cheap ! And in perspective of this comment thread some had wheels that made them easily transportable.
Man I bet one of those would work great if it could be found
Hey Folks!
Super pumped to have this stove as an add to my winter camping kit. I'll be using this along side my Cabela's Ultimate Alaknak 10x10 tent. If you haven't checked out the unboxing and initial tent set up video, you can watch it below.
