Perennial's my most favorite Jinjer song (just a fucking AMAZING song AND video), but it's always fun to see the reaction channels do Who's Gonna Be the One (live) and Teacher, Teacher, especially when they're new to Jinjer. I Speak Astronomy is also a MUST.

the best reaction to Pisces i've ever seen, not only for your beautiful and natural reaction , but also for the ''lyrics interpretation'' part, everybody it's all about ''oh wow, she growls''' , but you also analised the lyrics wich are so deep and important . Tatyana also said that she would like to see people also listen to lyrics and not only to the song , wich makes sense since she works hard to write . Btw, loved your vid. keep it up!

Jinjer is THE State of the Art Metal band in the World today. Seen live last year, seeing again in fall. Seen Over 100 bands live, gave me Goosebumps. They, She.. are UNIQUE.

So glad you guys finally got to Jinjer. Such a good song and great band.
I'm almost positive Tatiana (the lead singer) is a Pisces and she essentially wrote a song about the struggle of having the dualistic mindset she does. I think the portion talking about swimming against the current and searching for a hook to catch on refers to struggling in life and searching for a someone (fishermen) to take you away from that struggle, only to realize they were the thing that would kill you. I like to think of it like a relationship type of song. It is somewhat generalized in the lyrics so I can see it being applicable to many things with a dualistic nature. She's a really talented song writer. Its obvious that she intentionally used parallelism in the song to express the internal struggle of wanting to live but also wanting to die.
See that's the great thing about good art, its open to interpretation. Everyone's version is right! I thought it was about struggling all of one's life, swimming against the tide to find success; and in the end finding it but being unable to enjoy it and thus dying bitter.

One small little issue with the lyrics you got it's not "scale armor blaze" it's "scale armor belies"
As you already noticed the song is about the duality of the Pices sign (Tatiana' own sign)
The chorus is basically saying that the tough exterior she shows to the world is hiding (belies) who she really is.
When she's singing melodically that's representing her true Inner Self, when she goes into the growling that's her Outer Self coming up to protect her Inner Self.
The outro is basically saying that after everything is said and done, even after her Outer Self has done EVERYTHING to protect her Inner Self that it is what her Inner Self TRULY wants, (i.e. to feel ONE sunbeam representing idealistic happiness) that singular pursuit will be what ends her life.
See a fish, unless it jumps will never feel a sunbeam directly unless it is pulled from the water by a hook. Her Inner Self want that sunbeam SO STRONGLY she is willing to suffer ANYTHING to feel it even for a moment. The inevitable logical conclusion of her being pulled from the water is to end up helpless where even her outer self can no longer protect her Inner Self, because her Outer Self's scale armor is unceremoniously discarded (Emeralds are RIPPED away)

Or it could be about being in abusive relationship and despite that showing others their nice, high morality, selfless side that they were brought up to be like as they try an love the other despite them abusing them and betraying. The chorus being their inner self that's in conflict and starting to realize the hate, the regret, the loss of innocence in the oceans of he world.
Pisces symbolizes mother, who is selfless and loves their children without question.

Tatiana ( the vocalist) has Pisces as her Zodiac sign . She wrote this song after her father died and coming out of a depression, it's about her struggle with herself, she has a very self-destructive side and also a side that loves life. the chorus lyrics are usually written as Blaze, but I still believe it's Belies (Scale Armour Belies, Virgin innocence) Beneath her outside (scaled, fish scales) armour is a vulnerable woman. 'Neptune's child shivering inside' is her the 'drowns in the liquid gold, is something I still don't really understand, but "Cherish his life to the underworld refers to her father (symbolically neptune) dying. The last bit I interpret as her often falling for the wrong men, she's searching for love, but they just cut her up with callous hands, 'Under the hands of handsome butchers', the men she finds are handsome but they are not nice men 'Emeralds are ripped away' Her fish scales are being ripped away by this. There is probably more that I am missing, Tatiana is an amazing lyricist but she does use a LOT of symbolism so sometimes the meaning is obscure. Hope this helps
Also Pisces is a great song, but the rest of their oevre is imo better (and more metal). In other songs you can also see how good the rest of the band is Eugene is an amazing bassist. Vlad always kills it on the drums. and Roman (guitar) plays heavy ass riffs .
Yes I agree. Im quite certain the lyric is belies too, as ive read somewhere else. I didnt know about her father passing but i beleive you are spot on in the interpretation of the lyrics.

Thanks for this reaction. I absolutely love Jinjer. The crazy thing is, this song doesn't even show Tatiana's full range. This is one of their least heavy songs, not a fantastic representation of their normal sound. It's the song that has the real "omg" reaction because it's done so well. I'd like to recommend their song Teacher Teacher, I think you'll like it.

Hi, finally a Jinjer introduction! The best song to start with! About the meaning, it's very personal song to the singer (Tatiana), about her dual personality, depression and difficult reltionships with her father (Neptun's child) and men in her life (handsome butchers). That's what I get from it, anyway! Keep rocking, great channel you've started.

By the way: she is describing what is Piscis in horoscope meaning. That is: we are everything, but in flow, constantly changing, evolving, thats why is difficult for us to mantain our word (don't rely on me and I won't decive). We know well the two sides of the coin, cause is what we are. Usually shy (skittish) but strong, we live in our inner world (underworld), cause is difficult for the others to understand us and we feel more confortable with our own thoughts than dealing with others. But in order to know what is life, we must go out and suffer (the sun beam).

The lyrics on Genius are incorrect btw. The correct lyrics are:

Idk why they have "blaze" instead of "belies" (which means to deceive, so the armor hides the virgin innocence inside). I've suggested they change it a few times to no avail lol. Anyway, awesome reaction as always! Next Jinjer song should be I Speak Astronomy or Teacher Teacher.

This band is dam near flawless. Seen them live last year. It's an absolute show of talent. Looking forward to new music by them hopefully soon they are recording new tracks as we speak. Last I read .

I've got the CD too and it is "blaze". However, I agree that "belies" makes more sense. Of course, it might be a mistake in the CD booklet itself, and it's just been copied from there onto the lyric websites.

Most Jinjer fans will agree, that "Pisces" is a great introduction, but it is far from their best. I don't even have it in my top 10.
William Duckett However, many bands have a few songs (sometimes just one) that people who aren’t generally fans of that genre like. It doesn’t follow that just because someone likes Pisces, means they will also like the majority of Jinjer’s other songs. For me, most of their songs are too screamy, whereas I’d imagine, for many long time Jinjer fans, Pisces is not screamy enough. Tatiana has a really nice clean voice, and personally, this balance of clean, melodic voice that you could clearly pick out the excellent musicianship over, counterpointed by the screaming, was a great balance. The filming and colouring of the Live Session video was also excellent, so always happy to re-watch it.

As for my opinion, they literally don't have a bad song. I at least "like" everything they've written.
I think you might want to binge some Jinjer. Tatiana is amazing and the dudes are seriously talented musicians. This has become one of my favorite bands.
