The production vehicle however looks so much better, especially in this fine green color. Ooof. Trying to convince my wife to take this car.. bus or whatever it is.. :D

I really quite how Hyundai has restrained the design with this vehicle with its Volvo-eque tail end. To my eye, it all looks well considered & proportioned - especially when I think back to some of their earlier, more busy designs.
Very nice. I have just taken delivery of a new Kona EV and it is a big upgrade from the previous model. It shares a lot of styling cues from the new Ioniq 9 and do not see myself moving away from Hyundai. The only improvement I would like to see is integrated recording cameras front and rear. Having to set up a 3rd party dashcam and having to route the wires is a pain and should be mandatory on all new cars. It should lower insurance premiums if all new vehicles had dashcams as standard.

First of all, what are you even imagining using 100W charging in a car for? Then, of course, most importantly, that 100W is shared between all 6 ports. Just like when buying multi port charging blocks, whether 65W or 250W, it's crucial to see how that power is allocated across its entirety.
@JonathanEzor is that... A common scenario? 45W is considered adequate fast charging for a laptop anyway, so I guess 2 laptops and a phone on a road trip but that sounds miserable.
Great review Ricky! I had already watched a review by TFL. It was long and uninteresting. It seemed thrown together. This review was thorough and interesting. Love the car! It’s going to be way out of my price range though.
Its great. But why is the screen curved/tilted? I think it should be flat and straight what if you want to give your passenger or spouse the option of being dj or navigating through the menus. Makes sense to me 🧠
Perhaps to make it a less of a stretch/distraction for the driver to reach the screen. Most of the Hyundai/Kia screens are driver orientated, have been for a few years.
Looks nice from the side and rear, but the fromt being a massive wall both doesn't look good IMHO and is objectively terible for visibility and therefore safety of everyone outside the car. Why the capacitive buttons? If you want to have a touch interface, make it be on the screen, definitely not down at the knee height.
Another review said they are physical buttons not capacitive. And the reason they moved them down from directly below the screen as in the EV9 is because people like to rest thier hands against the bezel and kept accidentally hitting the buttons in that vehicle. So it's something they have improved over the KIA version.
Same platform, but slightly larger. Also, some updated features (e.g. larger battery, 100 watt (shared) USB-C ports) and more physical buttons for key controls. Different display layout too; the HVAC isn't behind the steering wheel.
It looks very Volvo, and that's not a bad thing. I was not expecting to like this car. The Kia EV9 is vast, and has no more seats than my old Renault Grand Scenic had. This car is I assume also huge, but it looks nicer!
Where's the ioniq1, ioniq2 or the 1st gen Ioniq? I'm just not interested in more SUVs entering the market even if it is dynamite in the SUV/upmarket race.
That is so ridiculously big and ugly, it will sell really well in the UK. "Look at me, everbody, look at me! Look at my funny wheel arches, they have dado rails!".
The US version with the black ‘dado rail’ on the spats looks a bit better than the one we’re getting particularly in that green but overall although I appreciate the design philosophy I also think it’s a bit ugly and although it’s super boxy and futuristic, also not being to everybody’s taste, I’d prefer a Kia EV9.

I want an EV that can, when needed, transport all 5 full-sized adults in my family, plus cargo, comfortably, and on road trips as required, plus swallow large purchases on occasion. Essentially, a replacement for my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid PHEV, which my son has taken over for his daily commute. I love my Mach-E but will likely move into the three-row segment as my sole vehicle when my lease runs out in July 2026. The ones that were on the road must have radar detectors, as they went past me when I was doing 70mph like I was in reverse.
Comparing the hyundai with a range rover is like comparing a timex watch with a patek phillippe... Both might do the same job, but you pay a lot more for the beauty and elegance in the materials and fine details. That said the RR has off road functionality the hyundai really won't have.
And they put the charge port on the Passenger Rear side? You can forget using the Supercharger network ... That is an arrogant/ignorant move which is typical Hyundai. I've owned a lot of BEV's and Hybrids and Hyundai has never been a consideration.
It's not a problem on Tesla V4 chargers.
