Hey, I knew he was going to say The Doors. LOL The acid hippie rock was killing them. They had that wholesome feel which could be marketed and cookie cutter but Jim took all their teenagers away LOL.
He had nothing against The Doors and he was once very tight with Jim. He simply had a falling out with Morrison for reasons that are actually explained on the video, reasons which were not artistic ones.
@@Beau-yn8hl Hey, yeah I know that Jim could be a something else at times. He was troubled and I know that seeing that Native American dead on the side of the road messed him up. He was livable until the wine took over which is sad. The thing that makes me sad is all three of them. Janis, Jimmi, and John, all had weird relationships with their hometowns. Janis had the Ricky Nelson experience until she died. Jim and Jimmy both died out of the country. I don't think Jim wanted to be a musician. He wanted to be a writer like Edgar Allen Poe. The sad thing in life is most people never want the thing they end up being great at even though it makes them famous. Janis wanted a man and have a family. Jimmi. Liked being in the military but he got injured from jumping out of helicopters. He never thought of himself as a Hippie and really didn't care for them. Jimmi wanted to be a poet and didn't like being in public. (Hard to imagine huh?) He just wanted to share his poems. They all died alone with the world at their feet.
Hey, they were friends and Dennis got people to listen to his (Charles) music. Charlie didn't do any hands on stuff but got life for being an influencer. He must have had the worst lawyer possible. I get being an accessory but was he even at the crime scene. I know he didn't actively participate in the physical stuff.
@@kookadams85 I meant more in terms of a live band. Im one of the biggest Beach Boys fans but when it comes to both groups performing live the Doors win all day long.
Morrison could be a real jerk. Dennis outshined him as a percussionist, songwriter, producer, actor, and even video director. FYI Dennis directed the 1966 video Sloop John B. which was shot in black and white at Brian's Bel Air home. Here is a follow-up four days later. In 1964/65 when the Beach Boys were at their height as a working band and making bank Ray and Jim were still good college boys trying to figure out what to do next. Let that sink in.
@@JJG86 Got news for you. In 1977 Dennis was the first Beach Boy to release a solo album called Pacific Ocean Blue. It sold a quarter of a million copies and Dennis wrote all the songs albeit with help. Get your facts straight.
Obvious case of jealousy . The beach boys are not in the same league as the doors.Morrison smashed every American icon , including the beach boys, to pieces. Morrison was hated by greats such as Lou Reed , Hendrix,Zappa,Dylan etc.. because he was better at being a rockstar than all of them.
What does "better at being a rock star " mean? By his mid-twenties he was well on his way to becoming a decrepit drunk propelling himself and his band on a one-way trip to Oblivion. Some great music along the way yes, but hardly someone to be jealous of.
@ the beach boy was a Narcissist who was being outshone by a more talented Narcissist…the beach boy would of been intimidated by morrison’s crowd size for one…
Wrong. Starting with Pet Sounds in 1966 the band went in a new direction. The album laid the groundwork for soft rock, baroque rock, experimental rock, and AC. The lyrics were more cerebral. More than just surfing, fast cars, puppy love, and two or three-part harmonies.
This video didnt really say much other than they had a little fight. I wish more was explained.
Hung with family man Charles while despising a truly great American band? DW essential in Beach Boys, kinda messed up inside after the Sixties.

Love Dennis and the Beach Boys but The Doors were the greatest rock band of the 60s.
No way, the Beach Boys are *THE* Greatest EVER!

You couldn’t be more wrong on songwriting.

The Doors sound like circus music while Dean Martin croons out bad poetry.
You're right. The Beach Boys are in a higher league. They lasted much longer too.

The Beach Boys wrote catchy tunes. Everyone likes catchy tunes, those who deny it are just trying to look cool.
