  • Mats Olin - Din Och Min Melodi (A Chacun Sa Chanson)
    Single B-side, Polar POS1055, Sweden, 1968
Swedish cover of Monacos entry to Eurovision Song Contest 1968, "A Chacun Sa Chanson" originally performed by Line & Willy and written by Jean-Claude Oliver and Roland Valade. Swedish lyrics by Britt Lindborg.
Representing Monaco, the duo (who were a couple also off stage) finished in 7th place of 17 countries, where Spain and Massiel won the Grand Prix. The final was held in London.
Mats Olin, had a massive breakthrough at the age of 20, and was the toast of the summer of 1967 with his mega hit “Jag Tror På Sommaren”, spending 12 weeks on Svensktoppen peaking at number 1 and staying 14 weeks on the radio-/sales chart Kvällstoppen peaking at number 2. To this day, “Jag Tror På Sommaren” remains a classic evergreen.
Mats released a couple of singles and albums, none of them matched his first success, but his cover of “Limon Limonero” spent 7 weeks on Svensktoppen in 1969, peaking at number 4. Sadly, tragedy hit hard, and in the mid 70s, still just in his 20s, Mats suffered from several strokes, from which he never fully recovered and had to give up his public career and withdrew from the public life.
In June 2023, Mats Olin passed away at the age of 76. His sister, famous actress Lena Olin, wrote on Instagram “You taught me to be true to who you are by being a super talented, young gay man growing up in Stockholm in the 1960s and 1970s. You taught me all about the fun and danger that comes with fame by being thrown into stardom at the age of 17.”
