Yakety Sax! - the instrumental classic by Boots Randolph, forever and ever remembered as the theme from The Benny Hill Show. Who’d have thought it would even be possible to add lyrics to it? Git Skiöld & Leppe Sundewall gives a tongue twisting performance in their Swedish version, entitled Det Fanns En Tid (There Was A Time) from this rare single, released in 1969. The song was written by Boots Randolph & James Rich. Swedish lyrics by Lars Johanson.
Git Skiöld & Leppe Sundewall was not only duet partners, but also married for a couple of years. Leppe was a jazz musician and trumpetist and also during a few years member of the vocal group “Gals & Pals”. Git was a singer who released a couple of solo singles before teaming up with Leppe. Under the name Git Shield she also recorded the raunchy “Sin In Sweden”-EP, released in 1962. She later left the music industry to pursue her career as a ceramicist, represented in Nationalmuseum.
