Well I think I also remember there being something about aboriginals on the island formosa, before the immigration of the Chinese and yeah I did here Taiwan was historically a district under japanese rule buh China's two adamant about annexing....Good thing there's about 8 billion dollar aid going to the indo pacific cause ❤

    I went through five channels of gen Z podcasts and they were a complete waste of time, they insist on putting themselves in front of the camera and most of them endlessly review food and don’t mention anything about the history and culture related to the places that they recommended.
    Thanks for the most comprehensive coverage of things to do in Taiwan and for your in depth summations..as someone that has also travelled around the world I have subbed and will be following you going forward.

    Really enjoy your videos, really to the point and so informative without fluff . One suggestion is to group suggestions together by locations, meaning at this place you could also visit the following spots in the area. Another example is if I am going to this night market what could I do in the same area during the day. Great work!

    Taiwan was a Portuguese colony and after that it was a part of Japan empire.
    It wasn't Netherlands colony.

      Portugal never colonised Taiwan it was Netherlands and Spain, and Netherlands was first country to colonised Taiwan

    Please pronounce Ximen as seamen, and Raohe as rao her. Yes it's weird for he to be her but thats chinese romanisation

      It’s actually “shi-mun” and “rao-huh” when pronounced. I’m not sure where you got those pronunciations from.

      @@mythrin I'm Singaporean chinese and English isn't the best language for phonetics, your interpretation sounds like it's not mandarin
      There is no h sound in 西 even if you wanna force 门 as mun. You do give a good example of how a westerner would pronounce the words though

      @@ExDarkx3 Yeah I know, I was thinking in terms of helping OP pronounce the words better as an English speaker. But learning pinyin romanization rules would be the best. But with “Ximen” the first consonant is actually closer to a “sh” than “s”, at least in my Taiwanese Mandarin dialect anyway.

    for Xi-men the Xi you can pronounce it as C and not how you pronounce it. people will understand you better. as xi in chinese means west and the pronunciation sound similar as how we pronounce C. for 'Rao he' the he is pronounce similar to her
