- In this video I show how to install a KFI winch mounting plate and Badlands 5000n ZXR winch with backlit switch. Hopefully this video will save ya'll some grief and time.

The apex comes with a very good looking sturdy winch rocker switch. I ordered one too, then realized it had it. Thanks for the video.
I didn't feel comfortable with the factory bolt length with the new winch mount so I got 10mm 1.25 just a little longer and made the install easier.
Thanks for taking the time to do this, it helped immensely .
I'm not a frequent commentor on YT videos, but I have to say that this was a very good video although the best part was checking out that really nice woodshop!
Thanks for taking the time to comment and the nice compliment on my shop.
I'm sure you know this, but your Pioneer uses electronics to shift instead of just a belt. adding a winch without a door battery will put a heavy strain on the factory battery and with low enough voltage, could tear up the transmission. That's the main reason so many people install the second battery!
How do you wire the spare battery? Where do you mount it?
Thanks for the helpful video! On my 2022 1000 the bumper mounts different, easier BUT! The bottom of the plastic grille cover over the radiator needed to be loosened, pushed forward and blocked to allow for access to get those top bolts started by hand. Additionally, the Honda bolt holes for the diff mount were off and the KFI bolt holes may have been off as well. Used a straight grinder with a carbide burr bit to match things up.
Excellent video!! Made installation a breeze!
Great Video you made the install look so easy. Also nice looking shop in the background!!!
Thank you!
Phenomenal video. Super helpful and made the install go easy
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it..
That was great information and thank you
Very well done, Thanks!
Nice video keep them coming
Excellent video!!
Thanks for the compliments...
As far as the bolts and wrench size- try a 12 point socket or wrench- but, the 9/16 deal works fine too.
🏆🏆🏆👍🙏
Thank you for sharing
Watch the duty cycle. I have these on my trailers, but longer pulls will burn up the motor.
I don't use a winch all that often. I'll definitely keep an eye on things when I do. Thanks for the tip.

Great job! Please keep the Pioneer videos coming as you continue to mod. The tailgate plates look awesome and are on my list of future Pioneer purchases. 👍🇺🇸
@@coltjester thanks for the compliments and I'll keep on keeping on. Have a blessed Sunday!
Stumbled across this video! Huge help! Side note, do you have any issues with your 1000 feeling hot. Literally burning your butt? The dash reads fine but looking for a better way to let the heat escape. Took off the access plates and it helped but that’s incorrect. Looking for better options. Any ideas?
COPS tune will work wonders for you on that issue.
I like the idea of taking both keyed 12V and the switch lights from the headlight switch - 1 stop shopping! Quick question though... does your winch switch light up when high beams are on? I am not sure how the light switch works - whether the brown stays hot on both high and low beams or if it switches 12v to another wire for high beams?
Thanks for watching and the comments! To answer your question yes it does stay lit up in high beam.
Do you have a link for the winch plate from KFI?
Question: The heavy RED cable with circuit breaker and the Solenoid you mounted to the firewall .... do they both come with the winch itself or are those separate purchases?
They come with the winch.
Nice install and video but those wire nuts won't last long and are a big fire risk
My 2018 P 1000-5 has that ground wire
I have a 700.....think install about the same, question if you know. Plan on installing a plow.....do you know if angle of winch and/or winch bracket will obstruct the operation of plow push tube or the lifting and dropping of plow. Thanks
I don't know much about the 700. I have heard that the transmission on those doesn't have low range. Might give you issues when trying to plow snow.
do you have a link for the mount?
Can you tell me what order the small wires ontop of the silanoid? Or send me a pic I think I wired mine wrong if I press the winch out switch it kills the engine/battery.
I will send you a pic.
@@tradinghouseoutdoors3114 thanks so much it will be a huge help!
Send me an email address and I can send you a pic of the solenoid.

Yes, with no trouble!
@@tradinghouseoutdoors3114 Awesome thank you

Maybe this? Very good video btw! I’ll be purchasing one for my p-1000
Where did you get the mounting bracket?
I believe it’s a KFI. I’m using the same one.

Hey man tell me how to wire the black-red-blue harness that came with the new Badland 5000 to that switch you used. I can’t figure it out
I'll send a picture of my switch wiring when I get home.
If you were to mount the contactor with the large lugs going UP and look at it, the female spaded connectors on the wiring harness go like this: Black on the left, blue on the right and red to a switched positive 12VDC. The middle spade on the contactor should already have a small wire going up to the negative post on the contactor.
9/16 & 14 are the same
Do you link to the one piece plate
Aftermarket past like super atv or everything Polaris is popular bracket kit and works well just put mine on
