Thank you for making this video, I just hit this blade and no video was helping me get it, I haven’t tried yet again since I need my husbands laptop, but I noticed a few things I was missing out on, gonna try again later, thanks a million for making this very helpful video!!!
I am so happy I just found your channel. I just purchased an Explore and had no idea I could engrave with it! I will wait for my one year and engrave away! Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video! I’m a relative newbie to Cricut, and been watching loads of videos on engraving. This is by far the best. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the rest of us. ❤️❤️
Kay, I think you are clever ALL day! 😊 I am so happy I found your channel as I can learn from your style of teaching. It’s simple, straightforward and easy to follow. Thank you!
Your right I dont need to add offset for the embossing. I've final tried the file I set up in cricut design space and it work. I made sure everything lined up. Thanks.
You! My Dear, Are a God Send to my Cricut Explore One! I was beginning to think it was a fossil, like all the machines before it. I really love my machine and was hoping that i could figure out a way to Engrave with it! I even asked questions in a Group that i follow - The answer was NO! I needed to buy a Cricut Maker! I haven't used my Explore one in 2 years! How am I to justify to my hubby that I need a Newer Machine. I really thought that my hopes were Shot! But, then, I found YOU!!!!!!! So, Thank you! Thank You! Thanks You!
even though i have the maker and didn't need to watch this video, but I still watched it because I enjoy learning new ideas and see your creativity! you are super smart Kay and always coming up with brilliant ideas!
Yes, excellent video...I will have to wait for my year to be up and start this method. I will be following you form today as I fine your teaching method easy to understand and your voice is easy to listen to. Thanks!
Thank you so much. It’s time to get my explore out of the box and set up to do engraving on acrylic. I’m a member of the FB group and the engraving shown by members is amazing. They are an inspiration
@@jmholmes83 Engraving metals with cricket maker and cricket engraving with clever someday plus anything that has to do with cricut and design space. I’m also member of several engraving groups. I use a high speed engraver. A dental lab tool that spins at 300000 rpm
This is the example I used and I proceed to cut and it came up with both the foil medium and foil bold but I cancelled because my tip and blanks aren't here as yet.😊
Thank you so much for video. Like so many others i have been looking for videos to help me with how to engrave on my explorer air 2. Not only do you explain in detail but you are patient and take your time making sure each step is explained. I've had no luck with other videos that go to fast and have to constantly stop and rewind and still cant follow. THANK YOU!!!! QUICK QUESTION. where can i find the little black stopper you used for the engraver please?
Good video.. you must be very careful when doing this for a few reasons, 1 it will void your warranty, 2 the acrylic dust and shavings can get into your roller mechanism under the mat and inside the bearings on the cutter motor and roller and really mess up the precision of your machine, if your going to do this I highly recommend you put a small vacuum nozzle by the engraving tool so it will suck up the dust as it creates it, I have been using the cricut explorer air 2 for three years and now use the explorer 3, lol which I must say was not worth the upgrade.. happy cutting all..
Thanks for this video! I am trying to cut a design on a 12x12 plexi glass, 2mm, that will fill the entire glass. Can I get the same results with using just the first couple tips? -- not the jig part for blanks. Thank you!
Sure. everything else applies no matter what placement technique you use. The issue with a 12 x 12 piece that thick, however, is that you will not have room to avoid the rollers or star wheels. Not exactly sure if or how that will work.
Woah! Mesmerized, awestruck... M a fan! So happy to have stumbled upon your channel. This is awesome and so are your other videos. Keep up the good work and keep those tips coming in. P.s. love the detailed steps with simple explainations
Love this tutorial ! I have a question thou, I’m fairly new to cricut, I followed a similar tutorial with minor differences and somehow the engraving tool was not moving . It was like the little box between A & B was the one attempting to engrave Althou nothing was happening. What could it be? Your tutorial was similar again so I don’t know what went wrong
I can't speak to why someone else's tutorial would not work for you. Assuming your engraving tool fits the blade side of the machine, try following my tutorial to the letter.
Amazing! Can you please explain more of what you meant by placing a ruler in to make sure the engraving process went well on the mat? Also can you paint these blanks? Great work!
Tuck the ruler into the compartment door of the maker so it extends out to provide support for the mat. Pix in my FB group. Yes you can paint metal blanks.
You are AMAZING! I’m about to have some fun with my explorer. Have you ever engraved an Apple watch band?? That’s what I want to do. Does the foil bold setting and double take still apply or would that be too much pressure ?
I so appreciate your tips.. I tried doing this and making the template to engrave on a metal round but my machine just sits after I hit the cut button and says PREPARING and doesn't move... any idea what I am doing wrong???
As noted in the video, dial must be on Custom. Not sure why the cricut screen doesn't just say that instead of sticking on Prepare, but it has been that way since the release of the tool.
Is it possible to do this engraving and then foil it? I haven't even opened my explore yet, but that is my ultimate goal... Engrave and foil acrylic pieces and possibly resin (?) pieces???
Still no problems?? I bought the explore but I didn’t think I wanted to engrave acrylic until I saw some cool projects I wanted to try and I barley got it and I’m excited to try but just wanted to ask how it was going???
There are no problems with this process, and many are using it successfully. Design Space is having issues with complex files but that affects Maker engraving as well.
Assuming you followed the steps in the video, this is likely a coincidence. Make sure you check the usual troubleshooting for vinyl not cutting and if you need more help, message me via cleversomeday.com/contact
Well I'm not sure why you backing your tool out , well you said beca8se the tool is longer than the blade housing, and yes it is HOWEVER I do not see your consideration for the blade itself. The blade is elected from its housing just a few millimeters which will be equal to the engraving tool. I also checked this when I got the tool a couple years ago.
I am comparing the distance between the shoulder of each tool/housing to the tip of its corresponding tool/blade, as shown in the image at 1:41 in video.
Excellent tutorial but geeeze……what a hassle. I’m new to Cricut explore, so this seems like a very complicated process to me. I’m used to using a manual die cutting machine and dies, which seem much, much easier than this.

You can get the o-rings in a hardware store. specs are in the video description
Cool vid. Thanks!
Thank you for the great tips!!!
Excellent information, intelligent and concise. Thank you!!
Legend..Thank so much I just got a Cricut Explore Air today, want to do this but worrying about the warranty🤔

Awesome as always!
Can you explain the way you created the rectangle that's filled with right lines? (The one where you angle the straight lines)
I'm do this I been sooo scare i had the tool for a yr now and been worry thank u
FANTASTIC! Thank you so much!
This is so exciting! I’m torn between the two Choma’s tips though, precise and standard. Is there a huge difference?
not a big difference, either will serve you well
Can I do this engraving process with a Cricut Explore One? And where do I get the o-ring like you are using with your blade?
Yes, Explore One works wonderfully. O-rings from any hardware store.
@@cleversomedayCan you tell me the size o-ring you are using? I know there are many sizes.

thanks for your kind comment. Unfortunately it takes a laser to engrave silicone, like an apple watch band.
Great video tutorial, thank you so much! What acrylic and metal thickness do you recommend using with the o-ring on the Chomas engraving tool?
with the tool lifted as recommended, you can use materials up to 2.4mm thick, same as on Maker.
@CleverSomeday Thank you!
THANK YOU!!! you just made my day!!!
Is 2mm a good thickness for a keychain? I love that I could engrave at home now.
Yes, 2mm is perfect for Cricut engraving.
I love this. I found you threw Instagram. Thank you
That was fantastic

Is it possible to do this engraving and then foil it? I haven't even opened my explore yet, but that is my ultimate goal... Engrave and foil acrylic pieces and possibly resin (?) pieces???
You can use the foil quill on acrylic and foil it, but I don't think you can use the Cricut foil transfer on acrylic.
I purchased the precision tool not realizing there was 2,options. What’s the best font for dog tags etc to make them a bit more prominent?
That tip will be fine. I have lots of info on fonts, etc here cleversomeday.com/cricutengrave

Great hack!
how to I get the lettering to fill in?
Thank you 😊 🥰
Which point would you recommend for engraving dog tags?
I prefer the regular point for everything, but I'm sure the precision tip would be fine for that, also.
What thickness are you using I engraved once with mine but it really thin
The acrylics from Craft Chameleon are under 2mm thick (you want the ones marked CSD) aff link bit.ly/3dTiJsn
Awesomeness
I didn't know about the warranty thing...so I guess I can do this now? haha
Genius, thnx so much❤️❤️
if you use vinyl permeant upside u dont need tape
This must be a fairly old video as Cricut has an engraving tip that has been available for over 2 years.
The Cricut brand tool is only for the Maker and Maker 3. This video is for the Cricut Explore series machines.
I can’t wait for my warranty to be over, lol. I don’t say that everyday lol
where can I get this O ring?
Any hardware store should have them.
