Great video! I would suggest you snap a quick picture of the instruction guide for the engraving tool with your phone in case misplace it later on.

I recommend ImpressArt. I have them linked in the description below this video for the ornaments. You can search their site for other blank types.

The one for the Maker will not work in the Explore. The only one I have found for the Explore is in this video.

I am not sure how thick they were. Maybe see if it says on the website where you buy the blanks.

Yes that is correct.
hey thanks for the video!i actually got my housing and engraving tip today and i have an image i wanted to engrave on some metal and wanted to know if its the same process using images with letters and or pictures?
Basically! If you are using your Explore, your lines should be cut lines. If you are using a Maker, you will want to change to engrave lines.

Hi! I just tried this and my first pass came out rough feeling, do you think I should have let it go twice to make it smoother? Yours looked more deeper after a first pass than mine did. Suggestions?
Did you go over it with tape? A lot of times it is just debris.
thank you for the video. how small of a font do you think the tool is capable of engraving?
Pretty small however it is harder to locate a small design accurately.
I think the hardest part is figuring out just what size your font needs to be to fit on what you are engraving
I generally go by what size Cricut Design Space says it will end up as and measure my blank.
Can I use this same process for engraving on plexiglass or acrylic sheets? I am assuming the answer will be yes but an curious
I haven't used this tool on acrylic yet but I do plan on doing so in the future.
And... what is the smaller size you recommend to avoid problems?
Totally not sure. I think you could do smaller things you will just have more trial and error with placement.
The company that makes those blanks has blanks in different types of metal. Have you tried anything bedsides aluminum?
I have tried many of them. I have several videos on UA-cam.
I wanted to do this engraving on dog tags with the name of the dog rescue I volunteer for. To keep them from scratches, what would you recommend as a protective shield over the engraving: clear nail polish or even a few coats of lodge podge?
I mean when you purchase one it doesn't have a coating that I know of?
Is there an engraving tool that will fit and old Cricut expressions machine?
I am not sure about the Expression as I have never used that one.
do you have a viedo on engraving on leather with this tool? Or has anyone tried it on leather. I understand the leather has to be 2mm or less. I want to try using leather on the Explore 2 with the tip you used in this video from Amazon. Thanks!
I haven't tried that yet! This was literally my first time trying this.

Yes you can engrave those.

I have not done the spatulas at all so I hesitate to give advice on those!

Yes! I have done those before!
How thin does the metal have to be? Would a 1/4” thick piece work?
The maximum thickness for the Maker is 2.4 mm.
Hi! I love this video!! I would like to engrave a downloaded picture. Is it possible?
Definitely possible. It will only go around the outside of your image or you can make it do a few inside details. In other words, it won't be a fully detailed image.

You can use it in a Maker the same way I show here.

Can u make a round sign with this machine I'm brand new to cruicut
You can cut really thin wood with a Cricut. So you could cut out several sheets and glue them together.
When I select writing fonts, it automatically goes to pen and doesn't give me the option to select basic cut.
You should be able to go back and pick a cut.
I bought a engraving tip but it doesn’t reach all the way down to my metal. It makes the cutting motions but doesn’t cut nor touch my metal, please help
I would say you have the wrong one for your machine or you don't have it installed correctly.
The housing tool I bought wouldn’t work on my explorer air 2. It wasn’t long enough to touch the metal.
Did you have it in the machine correctly? Did you get the tool from Amazon?
Can you engrave acrylic with this same tip?

Hi! I’m trying my first engraving. I put engraving tool in the holder B as you show on your video but when I started to engraving it seems to use the clamp A which is nothing in there. How can I fix it? Thank you
Sounds like you made the engraving draw lines. Try making them cut lines with an Explore.

I tried doing this with acrylic and some one the words weren’t completely engraved and when I tried going for another time it was off.
Might have been your design on a glitch in Design Space. I have had some fonts not engrave correctly.

I have tried it on a version of stainless steel that ImpressArt sells.

Can this engraving tool be used with the Cricut Joy?
No it cannot.
How do you prime a marker?
Just press down the tip until it starts flowing. Similar to a paint pen if you have ever used one of those.
Cut the shapes out in card stock what you line up on the corner that way you can do batches that all look consistent just load the ornaments into the cut outs as a jig
Yes! You can definitely do that. Especially if you are making a bunch.

So I got the engraver and now my cricut won’t cut with the normal knife, do I need to recalibrate or something?
What is it doing that it doesn't cut? Not sure what the machine is doing?
@@AngieHolden it will now only cut on card stock heavy but then doesn’t get the full cut in some spots and then will now cut too deep if it does cut.

Yep the Cricut one is only for the Maker!
hello can you make smaller letters for medallions 18 mm?
You can engrave small things just note that the smaller you go the harder it will be to get the alignment correct.

I dont know if I'm doing some thing wrong because I think this tool absolutely stinks! Mine keeps popping out the slot while its cutting. I have been using the cricut aluminum plates and have cut like 35 times and u can barely see the cut on the plate. I'm so frustrated with it.
You won't be able to CUT with this. It just engraves or scratches the surface. I have had zero issues with this tool.
Doesn't Cricut make an engraving tool? I thought they advertised that it can engrave. You would think they would have the tool? I'm a newbie. I just got my Maker yesterday. 3-3-22
Cricut has one for the Maker but not for the Explore. I have many videos on using it.
Personally I would not be happy with the quality of this engraving. It looks very amateurish. Sorry to say. I would neither sell nor gift these. The 'Hazel' is so jagged.
Depends on what options you have for engraving I guess.
