      Thank you! I used the "FFT10" code which saved me $75.33 after buying the concealable level iiia+ vest and two level iv plates for the Black Friday 2019 sale. I'm glad I waited until Sunday, too. Your 'police discount' to all went into effect which yield an additional savings to me. If I bought these items just 8 hours earlier, it would've been an additional $172.15.

      Many police vest also have hard plastic insert at outer layer to serve as stab resistance purples but if you really looking for something serious for anti-stab purples I suggest you to just by a suit of chainmail cover your soft armor. It will serve the not only anti-stab but also zombie bite perfectly.
      Yes Im talking about functional chainmail (not for reenactor riveted type) which is made of high-grade titanium alloy with soldering ring!

    Working in a hospital, I personally bought this same best very recently for slash and stab attempts. Being security in Texas, seeing this thing (assuming the recipe hasn't changed, so to speak), it was pretty nice to see this thing eat those handgun shots, and even take a shotgun pretty well!
    I had make issues with their website that prevented me from ordering anything, so I had to call the company for customer support. I got a very positive sounding woman that helped me get what I needed, helped me around my ordering issues, and even gave me a discount for my job. It's pretty light, but stands out more than expected under my uniform. Pretty darn happy with it and the company!

    • @GaveMeGrace1
      @GaveMeGrace1 6 років тому +1

      Impressive! The only thing that make make this test even better would be a clay test (assuming that’s valid and warrants a revisit video?). Another demonstration of a different armor (CTZN) measured the kinetic impact through the body armor in millimeters impressed into clay in a square box. That review claimed the testing maximum was 44 mm I to the clay for human safety. They did not test 10mm, 357, nor 44 Magnum. Thanks, and I’m what you’d call a novice to this.

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  6 років тому +1

      Jason Powell I don't have the ability to make the test valid as I don't have a climate controlled lab and the proper clay. The sample armor I received from safe life defense did come with a copy of the lab results where it was properly tested though in case anyone is interested in backface... It easily passed NIJ backface deformation standards.
      I'm not new to this either and I try to make the reviews this long and detailed so that people can see that the tests are not gamed in any way. (im not saying other companies are doing that, I just know that if I wanted to I could make any vest look great or fail based upon how I performed the test) There is really no way to do that with clay since it is too easy to play with the temperature of the materials. Not to mention doing things like injecting the panels with water or epoxy to skew the results.
      Instead I tested other vests against 1" clear pine boards and I always take the armor apart so that people could see a realistic representation of backface deformation and that nothing funny was done to the vest itself. In those videos people complained that the vests weren't wrapped around a solid object like a gel torso. I can't win no matter what I do.

They’ve really stepped up their game, and more people want armor now than ever - and they want to support American businesses. BUT, soft armor to a newbie is a Hollywood concept. If you made a guide that’s HALF as good as this video over the whole lineup it would be GOLDEN!! That said I think these are probably still the best…Rifle plates are icing that people who are just looking to protect their home don’t REALLY need on their cake, and you can add em later

    Ice picks typically do alot of damage to body armor specifically to alot of types of modern armor due to the fact that is so tapered thats also why daggers from the late medeval/ Early Renaissance such as ballock daggers rondels and baselards all preaty much looked like big tapered spikes because even back then people preaty knew that things like were the best kind of tool for getting through armor.

    Thank you for making this video. It prevented me from dropping $1000 to buy a Five Seven and even more in ammo. They are cool guns but given that even the LEO-only SS190 rounds don't penetrate the armor that easily without multiple shots being fired in the same place, civilian rounds definitely won't. The Five Seven seems like it will only reliably work with penetrating cheap Level II armor that can stop a 9mm but not much else. If someone needs to penetrate armor due to fear of violent attackers wearing IIIA armor, any AR-15 will do. I'll just stick with my 9mm and .357. I would love to see a test done with .454 Casull, .500 S&W, and .50 AE to see if it this armor can handle those calibers.

    On the other hand, up here in Canada, the odds of having to deal with a knife are significantly higher than of having a gun pulled on you. Especially for us poor security types, who are generally unarmed ourselves. This stuff would appear to be just the ticket... handles pretty much every threat you're likely to face, and quite a few that, unless you REALLY draw the short straw, you're not ever very bloody likely to!

      If you get body armor that fits very snug you wont feel the weight. That is how body armor should be worn under your uniform or clothing if you work security, law enforcement, or as part of a security detail. The old PASGT FLAK vests sucked because they were pretty big but had the same level as Level 3A weighed close to 12 pounds. The Interceptor Body Armor I had in Iraq with level 4 rifle plates both front and back to include sides weighs close to 25 pounds. As long as you wear it tight you are good to go.

Again, that is just my understanding of it. Also, nanotubes only reinforce the material, which wouldn't provide stab resistance in a traditional woven vest.

    Excellent video! I hope all soldiers, law enforcement, prison guards, even bank and other security related industries look into these. Finding a light weight cooling system that can be developed would also be an incredible help. ***The heat is a big draw back on most of the vests I've seen or heard about. Those protecting civilians and fighting for our country deserve the best. They will probably perform even better if they are comfortable. Otherwise I am impressed. Getting guns and high grade ammo away from violent and unstable individuals is still a very important issue. Sorry, but intensive training every 4 or 5 years and mental/physical evaluations are needed for the majority of weapons available. Special forces gets intense trading that many soldiers do not get. I do not think all citizens should be banned from weapons (2nd amendment rights), just those who can't handle weapons or are not mentally stable. The same goes for leaders with nuclear codes (you know who I mean). Peace, W
