@@dawnfmEnthusiastI’ve loved Romans character on this series but this episode was the first I’ve felt like he’s spiraling downhill out of control. I liked see him succeed now I think bad days are ahead the last two episodes
I loved the way Shiv’s dial tone when she faked the call is a great way of communicating her emotional and strategic status. She’s scrambled and at a dead end.
Can we all just take a moment and appreciate this? I mean, how often does a show of this caliber come along, and how often is the final season this goddamn good? They usually fall off in quality towards the end. Not Succession - it's better than ever
Keen observation on the phone usage, agreed. Let's all recall how all three Roy kids grew up with nothing but cell/mobile phones. It's all they know. Tom holding three was exhausting just to look at.
Two times when phones are mentioned as weapons in this episode. When Tom compares Cyd to a king cobra with an Iphone and when Kendall defends Shiv after Tom calls her unhinged. Ken yells at Tom to watch it and points his phone at him, almost like a gun.
Why is the review saying Shiv CHOSE not to call Nate? Is nobody paying attention?? She called him to try to ask and you can clearly hear an operator on the line saying “the number you have dialed is not in service” meaning Nate had already blocker her. At this point is when she decided to “fake” a conversation with him, but she did ATTEMPT to call him. He just had her blocked by then.
I guess most of us have just not been on the receiving end of our calls being blocked so didn’t recognize that this is what you would hear in this case. But thanks for pointing out this very important information lost on most of us.
I freaking love this show. It’s brilliant. But I said out loud to my husband while watching this episode that I can’t wait for this show to be over because I hate these people so fucking much. Wicked writing. Bravo, writers.
A keen observation!!With cell phones being so ubiquitous I didn’t even realized they were used as a tool here to define the multiple duplicitous acts going on simultaneously - but the stress load caused by them was palatable.
Greg is the clear winner of this horse race. Royco is a news organization and Greg Roy* has the inside scoop. S1E1 foreshadowed all of this. Greg is doing the bidding of Ewan to avoid becoming the world’s tallest dwarf. The wasabi and LeCroix were not accidents.
Why are all reviews saying that Shiv didn’t try to call Nate? She did call Nate and you can clearly hear an operator on the line saying “the number you dialed is not connected”. She did call Nate but he had already blocked her at that point.
Interesting observations & well done, as usual. But, if you stop & think about it, these characters are always on their phones, making & receiving calls & texts that impact the storyline. Too many to list here. You could make a long video that focuses on this. Keep up the good work!
This is the first time we see Shiv ‘drop the ball’ and Roman in ‘charge’. As much as I love Shiv, the fake call was stupid. Kendall used her betrayal (he could have admired it as he has betrayed her, others!) to justify his evil decision. He either didn’t have the guts to stop Roman or he just wants his crown, family be damned. Roman: truly hope he fails dramatically! That guy is worse than his dad. And yet again, all the men turn misogynistic when the one woman dares to be defiant. F**k them!
And was there that all important call from Jimenez to Mencken to concede defeat? My understanding of US electoral conventions is until that happens, the winning candidate cannot make any public statement of victory.
Concession is more of a custom, not legally required. It mainly serves to facilitate a peaceful transition, and we know there'll be protests in the next episodes
I always find it interesting that no one on any show I've watched uses a phone case. I know it's all fiction but no one wants to protect their $1200 device???? But replacing a cracked iPhone is literally pocket change for the Roys. I'm sure they've spent more for lunch😂
Bro I love your videos. But this take is a bit of a stretch. Next you'll be like how succesions shows balance of power by how some characters are shown walking and some are shown standing still

A creative take! Loved Roman a lot in this ep.

What made Kendall turn to Greg to find out the scoop on Shiv when normally they dismiss him and don’t take him seriously at all.
Can’t wait to see “How Succession uses Wasabi”
Ha ha brilliant! And the follow up. "Whats the significance of hint of lemon in Succession" 😂
There's actually a lot of subtle undertones and key takeaways from the decision to use Wasabi...... Only kidding lol
Lemon water treatment
😂
It’s like…medical

Great point!

Yea season 2 and season 4 are definitely peak succession😭
What a great observation! Roman has no more moral compass… he is grieving plus he is on the outs with his mentor Gerri.
they are ALL going to meltdown
Supposedly, the only organism that will survive a nuclear war is the cockroach. Greg is a cockroach.

Exhausting! Which really shows how much those assistants of Logan’s really had it down.
Great insight. Phones, social media, etc has taken over for sure. This show is a master class in writing & acting. Let’s hope they stick the landing.
Wasabi gate by Greg
No time for Wasabi Gate! He needs to keep on Gregging for Tom! Lol😂

Really well observed, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video!

Shiv as well when Kendall was suspicious of her, she was toying with the phone behind the glass looking nervy

I’m so curious too on how it’s going to end…I honestly see nobody winning because it’s just how the show goes
meltdowns everywhere--shit show
Agreed. I hope kendall wins by walking away from the business and gets to know his kids.
I’m curious but will Shiv play that card…the whole waiter and Kendall…is she that angry…so many scenarios
@@kimberquirkyI don’t see him giving it up. He will have to have it taken from him. I’m also curious if he’s been using drugs as well.
LOVE THIS CHANNEL !!!!!!!!!

"World tallest dwarf" lol. English isn't my first language so its the first time I've heard this phrase, but yeah. Love it. Totally fit
@@Will_7x :-) It’s a Succession quote from Tom.
Tom was juggling those phones
He was - looks too stressful!
Great video... 👍
Thanks a lot!
📱 Are used as shields in this Ep more than any other
Totally!

I think the confusion is that she faked talking with him when it failed not faked calling.
very good observations.
Thanks a lot!
No apostrophe in phones

Very true! They most definitely always are. In this episode it just felt so prominent! Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
@BrainPilot I'm a big fan of your work. Got hooked when you covered my favorite show, Better Call Saul. Look forward to more Succession.

@@gregweiler Agreed, in British constitutional law we use the term convention for a custom, so it's what I meant.
Phoniest episode ever!
Good pun

Maybe watch it again.
