and how is it? Im thinking about start in bass with this bass but the 4 strings version. Do you recommend it? (sorry if my english isn't good but it isn't my first language)
I love my Yamaha basses. My RBX375 is my go to main bass. I have one of these TRBX305s as well and it's not quite as mean as my RBX. The only difference between the 2 is the body woods and the bridge. The RBX has more mass to its bridge and figured that was the was what was lacking on the TRBX. I will try the magnets trick to see what that does. Overall the bass is great. Very versatile and well worth the price. If you've never considered Yamaha basses before you're really missing out. I bet you'd really like the BB series and the signature series basses. The Nathan East signature is out of this world. If you can't afford the newest East signature just look for a used one from the original released series. The thumb rest built into the pups is excellent too. I wish other pups did that. As for the 5 way selector switch I predominately use the solo setting and occasionally switch to the flat. Granted I almost never thump and am a Heavy Metal bassist.
I have this bass and the video doesn't do it justice on the built in eq. You can easily tell the difference in the sounds. I think it sounds great and for the price you can't go wrong. Great playing by the way......slow and easy. Great video

Im very surprised a bassist with as many guitars as yourself hasnt dealt with or knew of Yamaha Electric Bass Guitars. World famous and renown bassist such as Nathan East, Peter Hook, Billy Sheehan, John Patitucci have signature lines with them. if you were to google them im sure they are in the top 5 of electric bass manufacturers. i just began trying to play myself and through research found them to the best bang for the buck. i now own the TRBX174EW Mango, the TRB305 in white, and the TRBX605FM in Satin Natural. you were the first person when i decided i wanted to try bass, that i pulled up on youTube and i enjoy your content. i really need to get with you for a personal Q&A for tutoring.
Pretty cool demo. I use to own this bass. it's a pretty unique bass. the 5-way tone switch was an interesting feature. it gives the bass a variety of tones. right now I plan on purchasing a yamaha trbx505 sometime soon. it's my most wanted bass guitar. yamaha makes really good bass guitars.
Update: I’ve purchased a Yamaha trbx505 last summer and it is a phenomenal bass. The trbx basses are truly unique and they’re great for any genre. Including metal. \m/highly recommend it.
Another update: I’ve purchased a Yamaha trbx305 once again. I’ve purchased it In a factory blue finish and and it sounds absolutely killer. Especially with distortion. 😎🤘🏻🎸 I was thinking if I wanted to buy another one, I would purchase it either in a black finish or candy apple red. Other than that, phenomenal bass.
Most reviews I see of the TRBX active basses opt for very mellow, often muddy, often completely undefined tones that sound utterly indistinct and nearly inhuman. I guess that's what's in these days? Thank you for showing that the trbx can do high attack and high definition tones too.
I just started doing guitar videos and for the first time EVER just used an old bass I had laying around to track a quick riff I wrote to be my new intro music. Bass is all about groove and I had way more fun with it. Looking to buy a 5 string because I track a lot with my 7 string guitar. This is one of the basses I’m looking at in my price range. Great playing and I look forward to learning from you as I delve deeper into bass!
I just bought a damn blue -only color I could, but the bass has an awesome sound .... but did you find distance between the nut and headstock shoulder was a little too close? Your thoughts (great review by the way)
Can I use this particular model (TRBX305) for a high C tuning instead of low B tuning? Can I just rearrange the strings and start playing or do I have to do any modifications relating to the nut and bridge?
I've been waiting for you to try one of these out! FYI, that 5 string goes for $400 new. How would you compare it to the Sire M2 (tone, feel, quality) ? Those are my top two choices for whenever I go for a mid budget bass. I know the Sire Pre-amp is hard to beat, which is why I would go with that first.
Great demo. Is there a DSP in the selector? Yamaha make some decent DSPs - even on their cheap keyboards the DSP with headphones sounds epic. I think my Harley Benton b450FL is somehow modelled on Yamaha. Pickups look identical - doubt they are same but look that part. I too am looking at the Sire M2 maple fingerboard.
Sounds like the switch is a parametric mid eq? Like slap lowers the mids and emphasizes bass and treble while solo emphasizes mids and lowers bass and treble…?
I have this. The switch is a EQ switch. Middle is flat. I know there is slap, pick, solo, flat, and I forget the fifth. I usually play flat or solo. There is arguments about whether it’s a gimmick for beginners or legit for beginners and mid level players. 🤷♂️IDK what to think. It is useful but I see the other arguments also. I would prefer a tone knob and a middle EQ since it has bass and treble boost active EQ.
To me, Yamaha make number 3, of basses in that price range, ibanez 300e - 2, and number 1 is the Marcus miller! Having said that, I'm still going ibanez. I want light weight, and class playability, plus I like the slim body. But the M2 does beat it with that frequency selection option. But that's just me. The Yamaha good though! 😎👏
Hey! I am glad you did this video. I have this bass. It's nice to hear it in more experienced hands.
I bought the TRBX 304 last March and love it. Glad to see you reviewing the 305. Great playing as always Bully! Love the channel.
It looks and sounds awesome!!
Already ordered one and can't wait for it to come!!!

You've convinced me to buy this bass. Just wish I could find one somewhere. Dope video.

Be sure to give us an update on the magnet mod on this bass as well.
the bottom of the pickup would not allow me to add the magnets in... so if you get this bass this method wont work.
@@BullyThaKidd bummer
Would love if you’d show footage of when you’re putting the magnet on the pick yp
One thing right off the bat that will improve output is ditching the tapewound for a "fresh" set of roundwounds.
Yes lol! The obvious answer. Put some stainless strings on there and it will sing.

Their stereo gear is very hard to beat too. Someone at Yamaha cares about quality sound!

You should try the trbx505. It is a hell of a bass.
Love Yamaha bass guitars 😎❤️🤙🏽

Wondering what strings you have on the bass?
I have 2 6 string Yamaha guitars and I am convinced you get more for your money with Yamaha.
Can I use this particular model (TRBX305) for a high C tuning instead of low B tuning? Can I just rearrange the strings and start playing or do I have to do any modifications relating to the nut and bridge?
Looks like it has a mixed set of strings on it? the G string looks different.... 34" scale with 18mm string spacing@ the bridge...

I purchased this bass yesterday after watching your video. You think you can help me tone it
Trbx505 I'm looking at
Hey quick question did you have you volume at 100??? Would a bassist need to bring the volume down to 50% for any reason?
I did and I don't think so. If I did mess with the volume it was so the interface wouldn't clip. And the signal wouldn't distort.
Love that Bass
Sounds great! What are you playing through?
That might be a 30" scale bass. The rear pup sounds good. The neck pup is too much and should be a single row pup which leaves room for slapping.
Hello greetings from Peru, my question is if this bass makes noises when turning up the sound, I am thinking of buying this trbx305
i think the pups are humbuckers so no noise
Which is better. Trbx yamaha or sire m2?
@@francespaulmantujac6778 Sire has the option to control mid frequency and bit heavy. Yamaha is a solid built and light weight

That's not a fair question. If you play multiple genre's choose this one. If u play rock/ metal go Sterling
Looks like it surprised you a few times 👍

Thanks very much
