Hi how do you connect power the HD unit with the quick release 24 pin connector? Is there a stand alone 24 pin connector or must you use a complete second bracket and power cable?
I'm looking for and even simpler "power up" solution where I can just put +12 and Ground on the 93sv unit and create rouths in the house.. ANd not remove the cradle from the boat??
I use the Active Captain app and google earth pro for “scouting and planning” new locations. This video may be of interest ua-cam.com/video/xpHxqlrdpJI/v-deo.html Have a great day!!
@@DoubleTFishing Thanks, I started exploring ActiveCaptain a bit more, I see it's on the Garmin site as well.. Can you create a Route on the computer, connect it to the ActiveCaptain n the phone then to 93sv?? Creating a route on the big screen is a lot easier then a phone??? Thanks
That’s a great question Steve. I’m not sure I can answer. I’m not 100% sure if livescope has a separate disable function? I don’t have a livescope transducer. I does pose an interesting question as to weather the transducer is pinging in the background before the sonar screen is pulled up🤔.
Steve, loved the question so much I called Garmin for clarification. I’ll likely do a quick video later but in short your Transducers are “active” as soon as you turn your unit on. The livescope transducer CAN BE turned off separately from your normal transducer BUT you cannot separate the tradition, clear and side vu sonar. The processor takes in all the data from the transducer and separates it into what you see on the screen. I hope that answered your question.
Can you recommend a battery i buy to do this I want to update my unit at home when I get in … I already ordered the power cable you mentioned in the beginning of the video
Just an inexpensive lawn mower battery size U1 will work just fine, I use a battery out of my ATV, the power will last for hours and again an inexpensive trickle charger to charge it works just fine
I have the 16 pin connector on my UHD73SV, so guess I have to contact Garmin, I like to practice on the unit while seated in the living room instead of watching tv
Why is it not recommended to use a wall adapter to power the unit? I bought an AC/DC adapter that outputs 12V 3A to power my Echomap UHD 73sv off of my Sea-Doo. It came with a little barrel plug adapter that I attached the Garmin power cable to (Sea-Doo makes a cable that plugs into the ski's harness directly). I'm still running through the factory Garmin fuse this way.
Being safe, I really don’t want anyone trying to use a battery charger which regulates current more than voltage and could send voltage fluctuations into the chartplotter damaging internal components. A fuse only protects from overcurrent not overvoltage. Obviously they make power supplies that regulate both current and voltage but you need to be sure, a battery acts as a shock absorber to take In fluctuations to and from the chartplotter. Basically sends “clean” power without ripple current from an AC power source.
I have a question seems no one's answering me or don't know how and you're usually the most responsive channel. How do I clear shortcut keys? I save a shortcut key but now I want to save a different one but it keeps saying can't save shortcut key.
That’s odd? Normally it’s like a car radio shortcut key and all you have to do is go to the combo, sonar or map you want to assign to the key and hold it down until the pop up tells you it has been changed. It will overwrite whatever was previously assigned. With that said you can’t save a shortcut to a menu screen just viewing screens
Your videos are so perfect!! Wish I would have found them 2 months ago.
Tell all your friends 😂 Have a great day!!
Rick,
I always watch for your Garmin knowledge. I have learned a bunch from you.
Thanks for the shout out also. 😊 Gerry
You deserve a bunch of shout outs, love your content and twin trollers!! Have a great day Gerry
Very helpful for the electronics folks, well done Rick!👏
Love the Little Rick on the unit👌
Messed up a little on the green screen, thanks for the support Joe!!
@@DoubleTFishing I thought it was great!

I never tried on the computer?
Explanation of wires/connections AT the battery?
I just connected the wires under the battery terminals
Can you disable multiple transducers individually. ie if you have livescope and a traditional, can you turn one off at a time and just run the other?

With the transducer out of the water and enabled if you put the unit in sleep mode is the transducer still pinging
I’m not 100% sure. I asked Garmin once if the transducer was active as soon as you power up and they said “yes” but I never asked about sleep mode.
What do I need for a 24 pin echomap uhd 72sv. Very confusing
I’m not sure? Your transducer should be a 4 or 8 pin? Are you looking at the pins on the chart plotter or the cradle the chart plotter plugs into?
OK, I see how you do it, thanks so much, I have a power cord already for my ice unit on a 63dv
That should work👍🏼
