Dame Edna absolutely knew what she was getting into when she invited Robin Williams onto her show. Amazing dynamic in this video. Robin storms in and completely takes over. Edna has no choice but to let him roam free and wear himself out a bit. When his energy starts to decline a little, she rips his mustache off but it doesn't take him down enough. She has to call him out on his "stupid Italian accent" and over the top energy. The last two blows almost took him down too much so she comforts him and builds him up again at the same time as involving the other guests and rounding off the show with a musical finale. Brilliant!

The "Don't let her sing again" is a very "IN" joke especially for a pre-internet time. Ringo knew what he meant but not many others would have until the videos appeared on UA-cam isolating Linda's vocals on Hey Jude live performance.
His energy on stage was incredible. When you consider he'd do a matinee and then an evening performance, it's hard to believe anybody could achieve that level for two long shows a day.

I was really impressed with the way Humphries handled Robin Williams, because both of their styles of humor demanded that they be in total control of the moment, especially Williams. He (or rather her, ha!) graciously gave Williams the stage at the same time never letting anyone forget who was in control. That was the one thing about Williams that I totally disliked. His absolute need to totally take over the stage from everyone else. Ruining the timing and confidence of other comics. He demanded that everyone become his audience.
