- I've been wanting to try the vinegar and Dawn solution cleaning hack for a really long time. I have old vinyl sheet flooring that just doesn't seem to want to get REALLY clean so I thought I'd see if the vinegar and Dawn solution would work. My dirty kitchen floors have really got to get scrubbed and CLEANED!

Aloha,

This lady has a great personality for advertising . Her facial expressions are very entertaining. She is the kind of neighbor that can make you forget you problems for a while.
Awww thank you 😊
Totally!! I was also enjoying her personality and all her cute quirks!
I have been in the cleaning business for 30 plus years. A very common problem is using to much soap, that just attracts more dirt. Only use as much soap as needed to remove the dirt, and rinse well after.
Thanks for the info!
rinsing is important
Thanks 😊
I just use a steam mop, no cleaner unless there is a particular issue. The guy that professionally cleans tile said same thing as you - minimize use of cleaners and how much water you put on floor because it pushes dirt into grout. I also found a magic eraser works great at least on ceramic or porcelain tile
@@midlife_minimalist I’m in the middle of cleaning my grout and you’re right. From now on I’m going to vacuum first and get any mud etc up wi5h a sponge before mopping. I think the grout sealer also needs to be applied far more often than the bottle says. I bet it doesn’t last more than 9 months.
Wow. So glad I found this. My life needs a total makeover and cleaning and decluttering an old house from the 50s is a sore focal point. My 90ish parents' home has now become mine. One has passed, another in a nursing home. I'm tired, I now work full-time after years of being their caregiver and I have lupus. I have subscribed to your channel after seeing this because it will help me tremendously. Thank you for keeping it real too. So tired of ppl not understanding that life happens and we all have different cards we're dealt. I look forward to going on a journey with your videos to help get me through all the chaos! I love that you're an artist too...I have art stuff all over the place and would love to be organized so I can paint again 🤗🌈.

I’m so glad to welcome you to my channel 💖I know what you mean about life happening. I have not been able to keep up with my house over the last couple months because of life changes. It gets messy/dirty so fast and I’ve been wanting to get back on track for weeks! So glad I was finally able to get some tidying done & post a video today🎉I hope you enjoy the journey 💖

I love your down to earth bubbly personality it's so uplifting.
Having no microwave and doing it on the stove and not knowing the outcome is great. Everything doesn't have to PERFECT. You can improvise.
I moved into this apartment in 2016 and I tried everything, I mean every thing to clean the floor and the grout. Thank you so much for this cleaning floor advice. I used everything you mentioned except I didn't have the Dawn dish soap, so I used a little over a cup of apple cider vinegar and a few squirts of Ajax dish soap. I also accidentally boiled my water in the microwave. I then mixed all the ingredients and sprayed away! while waiting, I watched a show on t.v. and here, it was a half hour that the spray was on my floor! lol Anyway, when I went to clean it, I didn't even have to use a scrub brush! I just used an old tee shirt and it came off so easily. I was so amazed! wow! Thank you again for the suggestion about the vinegar, dish soap. I will use this now for everything!!!
I love this video! It's very easy and you have such a relatable personality
If you use a nylon bristle broom to scrub the floors, then you don't have to get down on your hands and knees.
Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it very much!
I have no idea why it didn’t occur to me to get one of those🤦🏽♀️ It absolutely would have made it easier 🤣I installed new flooring in the kitchen and have (and intend to continue) mopping it regularly so it never gets like dirty like the old floors! In case you didn’t see the floor install video (link below):
ua-cam.com/video/-5uTU3AmnCc/v-deo.html
Just get a good mop!
Thank you for the suggestion, Diana. I'm 82 and cleaning on my hands and knees is not an option! The nylon bristle broom is now on my shopping list! 😊
I just put it into a scrub bucket and use my mop. No need for a microwave! Floor is clean and shiny! Using this method for a long time!
Thanks for the tip!
What kind of mop do you use? I get so disgusted with the dirty mop and hate to put the pads in my washer.
Great hack! Your floors cleaned up real well. I have not seen this method before so thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome! I heard about this mixture and wanted to try it. Works great on the tub too.
Your floor cleaning method interested me but as I live in the UK I had to find an alternative to Dawn, lo and behold it is Fairy who apparently also make Dawn and to the same Specification so off I went to clean my white coloured vinyl that I have struggled with for years, it worked like a miracle after a couple of washes and I am so pleased, thank you.
Nice!
Thank you I’m in U.K. also😅
You are so entertaining to watch and to listen to! Never knew about using Dawn and vinegar - seems like a great hack! Fun and informative video - thank you!!👍😊
You’re welcome 😃💖
Wow! It worked. Your floors look clean! I normally add vinegar to hot water at 50/50 ratio + cleaning solution. Vinegar dries up the floor so fast! I love it.
I definitely could use less of the soap next time!
You are HEAVEN SENT!!! Awesome video and THANK YOU SO MUCH for keeping it short and straight to the point. I LOVE your sense of humor and the cute faces you make also. LOL Another AWESOME thing is YOU DON'T HAVE A MICROWAVE!!! You don't have to worry about radiation a grave danger from microwaves. Food from the Stove and Oven is much better anyways especially Left Overs. God bless your heart.
Thank you! …I haven’t had a microwave in at least 10 years I’d guess. Don’t miss it☺️I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Hope there are others you enjoyed😎
I found “cleaning vinegar” in the grocery store. It has double the amount of acid as the regular vinegar. 👍🏻
I heard of that stuff but haven’t come across it yet here. Definitely could use some when I tackle the oven.
Be careful cleaning with acid , harmful to some surfaces
Actually it’s only 20% stronger than regular, not twice
Dollar store has it
Cleaning vinegar is very good but make sure it's real cleaning vinegar and not just regular vinegar with added soap. Real cleaning vinegar is much more expensive than regular vinegar.
My mom raised me to clean house very thoroughly. She was a nurse. We used to clean our floors scrubbing them by hand with a bar of Fels Naptha, bucket of hot water, scrub brush and rag, and it worked great! Too old to get on my knees to scrub floors now, but I wish I could because I feel that’s the only way they get really clean your floor looked great, thanks for sharing!
Well I can do that! You made it funny and fun. I need this solution to two of my under-cleaned floors, one tile and one vinyl. Subscribed!
It definitely works! I couldn’t believe how easily all the gunk came off. Thank you so much for watching my vid and subscribing :) Wait til you see what it can do in the bathroom!
Finally someone else who doesn't have a microwave!!!!
WOW!!! I am going to try this on my linoleum floors for sure. Your floors look like mine and I just accepted the fact they would always be like that…thank you!!!!
It really worked well on the old vinyl. Heard not good for real tile grout though.
Who knew??? I'm going to try it on my floor! Thank you so much!!!
I was very happy with the results. 😃Works great on the bathtub too - just make sure you rinse really well otherwise it will be slippery.
This is my go to cleaner in my house. However, I use a tbsp of Dawn to a cup of vinegar and then fill the bottle up with water.
I definitely will use a lot less next time. I was just following other people’s tutorials😂
Do you use it for the toilet as well?
This combination works great for showers too! I generally just heat up the vinegar.
I’ve used it in shower too! Definitely works great😃
Yes. I usually only heat the vinegar too. I love this stuff. Great for laundry stains too
How do you heat vinegar ?
@@markme4 I have a large glass measuring cup I put the vinegar in and microwave for about 1.5 min. Be careful and don't let it splash on you as you take it out. I don't bring it to a full boil which is usually 2+ min.
@@Trisha_B_done Thankyou, ill try it
I just love how real you are 💕
Thank you! I appreciate that☺️
I Love this stuff! I use it to wash dishes, pots and pans and bathroom. 😊
Its really great on the tub!
I use this mixture in my bathtub but never thought about mopping my floors with it. I'm going to try it tomorrow. Thank you.
I use it in my tub & it works great!
Wow, that worked really well. That had to feel good to see those results.
It was the only thing that really got that old grime out. I HAD actually tried cleaning it before but nothing would get that deep ground in stuff off.
Heck yeah! Now I have to watch your next video that you mentioned. BTW, when I scrub my floors, I wear knee pads! Totally saves you from the pain!
I hope you enjoyed some of my other videos😃 I recently painted the kitchen (there’s a video for that posted) & below is a link to the video where I re-do the floors w/self stick vinyl tiles. Came out great! Thank you for wstching🥰

WOW!! That is an amazing hack!! You did a great job again👏
It came out so good! I was skeptical but it did great😃
Thank you. I'm in the UK so we don't have Dawn here, so will try what I think might be our nearest alternative. I've got builders this week, so will definitely be trying this after they've finished.
Since this video I’ve been told you can just use a very small amount of the dish soap and it works as well. Also, that it shouldn’t be used on hardwood floors. Just fyi.
That was awesome! It works to clean the bathroom and toilet, too.
Yes it does! I’ve used it to clean my tub. Works better than anything else!
You are absolutely Awesome.. I have a bad back but desperately need to get on my hands and knees to fix what a mop n floor cleaner doesn’t… thanx for doing the grunt work and testing first and you found what looked like magic.. here’s hoping the magic and work in my kitchen too ❤ take care and thanx again
You can get a scrub brush with a long handle. I wish I had thought of that before I did this video, lol
I added this combo to a mop bucket filled half full of hot tap water. The hot water helps to dissolve grease and grim on the floor or other surfaces. Great video. Thank you!
Thank you for the tip! 😃
@@TracyAkamine You're welcome.
Or just use 11.5 strong Kangen water without anything else, no dawn, no vinegar. Use about a quart of 11.5 for your laundry for the rest of your life. No laundry detergent ! Talk about saving money. So many uses.
@@johngeraghty2757 I've never heard of that before. Will check into it. Thanks!
@@johngeraghty2757 this is pure bs
Wow, I have a few places that I'm already planning for. Thank you
My mom uses vinegar/water mixture on the regular which was recommended by her floor installer. Heating is to help with mixing, dissolving the grime. Getting the dissolved grime up no matter the solution is key. A microfiber or something to soak it up does well, a mop that smears it around does not. LA's Totally Awesome all-purpose does a great job as does the concentrate for grime buildup. I often think Dawn comes up with these hacks which work some of the time but not any better than other products. Glad you found a solution.
Finally the YT algorithm sent a video I needed to see!! A Real Person cleaning a Real Floor who doesn't own a microwave!! Are you a long lost relative🤣
Awwww thank you! 🥰 Definitely a real person over here with real dirt & real mess😂 No Pintrest worthiness over here! LOL. I am trying to improve things & do the best with what I’ve got. I recently painted the kitchen (I have a vid of that) & re-did the floors w/vinyl self stick tiles. The link is below if you want to check it out:

I’ve never heated the mixture and it still works well. I use it in the shower.
Thats what i heard too!
😃
I use vineagar and dawn in the shower! I don't heat it up. I put it in a pan and use a white Mr Clean and scrub while I'm showering. It works wonders.
Vinegar & Dawn DEFINITELY work better than the 2 products I used for this video. I need to use that next time. I actually have a video about cleaning my (old) kitchen floors with that. In case you haven’t seen it:
ua-cam.com/video/lRxX_32JCJI/v-deo.html
@@TracyAkamine I’m confused about your reply, I thought you just used vinegar and dawn, yet you said vinegar and dawn works better than what you used in this video, this doesn’t make any sense!
@@harrietsand9715 I'm confused as well
Good tip. I have those things time to tackle the bathroom here my least favorite spot in the house next. I love a good scrubbing.
I used this mix in my bathroom & it was also transformative!
The music was perfect and it came out great!
Awesome! Thank you so much🌟
I think the floor should be rinsed after washing as soap residue can attract more dirt to it.
I did do that. After scrubbing I used plain water to mop until the residue was gone then I wiped dry with towels. No more residue😃
I use vinegar mixed 50/50 with dish soap for really dirty jobs, but then have to rinse well if I use it on a floor. But it’s great for the toilet. Spray and leave overnight; use the brush then flush.
Wow, didn't know about this hack, definitely going to try it 😲
I was skeptical but it worked great! Shoulda worn gloves though, lol.
You did a great job! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching😊
H A!!!! Great job girl. Trying it right now. Thanks!
Hope it worked out for you!
I use a squirt of dawn & 1/4C white vinegar in hot tap water, to do my floors. Works very well.
Oh hey I actually learned a few things! and what a cute dog!
Awesome! Thank you for watching😃 …and, He is a cute dog❤️🌺
Thank you! I appreciate your cleaning video 👍🏻
Your floor looks so good! Great job! I would suggest a rinse after cleaning, but other than that, I think you did a wonderful job.
I guess it wasn’t clear on the video but I did mop it with clean water after the scrub & dried it w/a towel to make sure it wouldn’t be sudsy. A lot of people have commented that I can use a lot less of the Dawn so next time I make the mix I’ll use less😊Thank you for watching!
I guess I must have missed the rinse. I saw you shuffling around as you were drying the floors. I do that too. It sure makes it quicker. No need to wait for your floors to dry, especially since they're wood.
@@TracyAkamine maybe when your spray gets low you can just add more vinegar. The dawn in the spray bottle will go further that way
I use a mixture of a few drops of Dawn, half & half white vinegar and water to clean my floors, as a fruit and vegetable wash and for windows. I vac my floor first, wet a microfiber cloth and wring it out good, then put it over a Swiffer and punch the rag into the holes to hold it on. Then I spray it with the mixture. It's great for just spills too. I feel this is safe for my cat to walk on too. Great video here and great presententation! She doesn't have a microwave.....I don't understand how she can survive!
Awesome! … I don’t miss the microwave at all- but it has been a very long time since I’ve had one😬
Love this video. I totally wing it too when it comes to following directions.
I’m like that with food recipes too🤪
@Tracy Akamine. Your floor came out excellent. You worked hard!! You did a great job!!?👍❤️
Thanks!
Looks good..can't wait to see the door.
The door got fixed!
I cannot wait to try this!! My 70s no-wax vinyl has lost the plastic covering and has at least 30 years of dirt ground in. Stay tuned . . .
A lot of people commented on the negative effects of vinegar but my feeling was, this cheap, sheet vinyl is so old (at least 25 yrs old) and crappy, I wasn’t worried about what a little bit of vinegar would do (it’s barely any). It was the only thing that got out that deep down, ground in dirt. I’ve since put down self-stick vinyl tiles & sweep mop at least weekly, so tough cleaners aren’t needed anymore. It really did work great to get the old stains out though! …If you’d like to see the tile install (did it myself), the link to video is below:

Thank you for this video, it’s simple and straightforward. My linoleum floor is trash and I’ve been dreading trying to find the right way to clean it.
It really worked great! Definitely needed the towels to wipe up the excess before rinsing. Highly suggest doing that😎Hope it works out for you!
Are you sure you can use vinegar on linoleum? I ask because I moved a month ago to a rented house with plastic tiles in the floor and the stains out of the glue that the landlord used is killing me! It looks like a sidewalk full of old chiclets, gross! I use w 40 leave it for 10 seconds and scrub with a towel tile by tile. These is killing my knees and my hips without mention I am running out of towels! Please, HELP SOMEONE!
@@carydelano5484 I actually found a better solution. Krud Kutter in the blue bottle, and a scouring pad. That’s all you need to clean a linoleum floor. The spray doesn’t leave a smell, nor does it make the floor sticky. I’ve tried a few different things, and I noticed these “natural” ways make absolutely no difference.
@@sebring31482 Thank you, the floor of my new rented home is not just dirty at the glimpse but also sticky that the sleepers stuck in the tiles and you end up barefoot. That is why I have to use W-40 and a scraper before the towel scrub. I am going to try the vinegar, soap solution, I never seen something like this floor🥵
I have used dawn , vinegar and hot water for years. I use 1/2 cup vinegar, a couple of drops of dawn and hot water. My floors are great and very shiny. It does not get sudsy at all.
WOW! I might have to try this in my bathroom. I've used several products with minimal success. This surely can't hurt my floors. They're tile.
Be aware though that I’ve heard this is not good on grout. The vinegar is too acidic and can deteriorate it.
Great job on the floors 😊
It really worked!🌺

I have been using dawn and vinegar to clean my kitchen floor. I have a while ceramic tile and I loved it when we bought our house but with a big hairy dog, I’m hating it! To get my grout clean a use a gel toilet bowl cleaner. I get it so clean this way! I nearly spit out my coffee when I saw you drying the floor. I do that very same thing!
LOL. The mixture works great in the bathtub too! 😃
Mr clean poured straight on the vinyl floor cleans it so good! Just have to do a lot of rinsing.
Good to know😃Thank you!

I use this in a mop bucket and I don't measure or heat it. It works great and it's pet friendly.

OMG, you are so cute!!! FYI, I live in an area with the HARDEST water. I learned the only way to get my dishes clean (sometimes I think the hard water rinsing of dishes after use actually makes it worse) I fill my sink with some vinegar and 4x Dawn. It will get the scum and grease off. P.S. I've also been known to run my bath water and add vinegar with some kind of bubble bath (to mask the smell), as this leaves no scum on me or my bathtub.
I should try the vinegar & dawn soak on my dish rack! I have scrubbed it with all sorts of cleaners but that white, hard water stuff just won’t go away. Maybe that will work😃 I’ll do it tonight & make a short vid if the results arr good! Thanks for the idea💖

I do 1 cup of distilled white vinegar on a bucket filled with water and 1 tsp of dawn dish soap and like 15 drops of pine needle essential oil . Is the best cleaning solution for me I don't use anymore strong chemicals in my house and my tile floors are cleaned. Thank you for your recipe
I use this solution all the time. I pour 1 cup of vinegar into a spray bottle, add a Tbspoon of dawn and fill with water. I don't heat it. I use it to spray in my shower and as a spray cleaner for bathroom surfaces. I use it as a deodorizer after p**ping, just flush and spray a bit into the toilet bowl. No more fruity deodorant smells., it really gets rid of stinkiest. When I mop ,I use a cup of my solution in the bucket with hot water and it works really well.

Another good way (and for walls cabinets etc) is a little powdered laundry detergent in hot water. The enzymes really break down grease, gunk etc
Thanks for the tip! I’m obviously not a good housekeeper so thats news to me, lol. I’m working on it though.

Just so you know, for regular cleaning, you only need around a 1/4 c vinegar, a few drops to a teaspoon at most of Dawn, and a pint to a quart of water. Not much of the active ingredients at all. FYI. DO NOT USE VINEGAR ON WOOD FLOORS (or any wood). And actually, if you question it at all, just a little bit of Dawn - LITTLE BIT -- in a quart of water or so and leave out the vinegar altogether. If it will make you feel better, you can use WARM water, but again, not necessary magic. Try to avoid leaving enough SOAP behind to leave your floor sticky to attract more dirt. In her case here (badly dirty), maybe. What I would suggest is to vac/sweep very well, clean as I described above, then if it needs more help - go toward what she did.
