Capo tip from a fellow guitarist, when you put the capo on, you can just tug the strings behind the capo to sharpen the notes, and tug on them in front of the capo to flatten them, saves you from having to retune whilst using a capo, saves me a ton of time playing live
@@nickbroomhallmusic It won't eliminate all of the tuning issues since a fretted note is still off by a few cents, but at least it won't add any extra and is perfect if you need to throw one on in the middle of a song.
wouldve been cool to hear if the 0s were alternating between the double 0s, and single drawn out-ish 0s i dunno i just imagined it in my head and thought it would sound cool
Every goddamn Thursday I feel divergent emotions, and I still couldn’t figure out if I love you or if I hate you or if I should adopt a Golden Retriever to reach out to these tones and punches of this channels’ riffs. And I’m pretty confident that it’s all about the dog. And the whatever drink in that sort of soda can LOL Remarkable job man. Remarkable job. 🔥
Hey nick, just wanna say I sit down and watch ur vids and you inspire me to sit down and write my own stuff even if I just end up ripping you off 🤪 jokes aside keep doing what ur doing and don’t stop you have so many creative ideas and tones, but one day one of us will give a run for your money 🫶🏻
Wow, I really like this one. Actually I am interested when the world will run out of music ideas, like is there an end of it and we just start repeating the same stuff? I often struggle to find the right rhytm when I have a new idea, maybe it is just a noob thing I don't know, I try to force 4/4 all the time maybe that is the problem.
I think the same general musical ideas can be repeated but with modern technology. As long as technology keeps progressing (which it will), music will never sound exactly the same as it did before. Same goes for any art form, really.
I think it was on a recent DickeyDines hot takes vid where a guy said metalcore is all just the doomsday riff. And I resented it. And then I thought about it. Great vid as always.
This is a boring request I know but can you go through your base settings in logic in a future video? Maybe just looking at the more important ones like a djentle introduction… Found your channel and have binged through them, love the content!! 🔥
Nick! I had a question about your ATS Logic Writing template which I purchased and was trying to figure out a few things. Is there a good email I can reach you at?
Nick, I know it takes alot of practice and time, but how did you go about being a one man band? lol Did you learn the piano at an early age and it just all clicks once you understand music theory? I'm so overwhelmed with just learning guitar and basic stuff on logic. I've considered taking some Joey Sturgis courses or something like that.
Is there any chance that you could do a TRT without quantizing any of the tracks? Every track has to be a live take? I just think it'd be interesting and cool. Kind of goes against what you do as a producer. I just think it'd be a fun "one off" video.
wolfmother mentioned RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH JOKER AND THE THIEF HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAAAAAAAD FOR YEARS also that first riff sounds more like Erra to my ears, so youve ripped off architects, periphery and erra LOL
Every week, same smile when the TRT comes up :)))
nothing like good ol’ Testosterone Replacement Therapy
no tolerance for low T
Fuck it, blast grams
"ThAtS JuSt DoOmSdAy!"😂 I completely agree with you. Half my riffs are just trying to sound like Spiritbox via periphery.
Most of my riffs as of recent are like if Spiritbox was late 2000s so I don't blame ya 😂
it’s crazy how much i’ve learnt about logic and music in general from these videos although they’re not “tutorials”. You rock!!
Very true, he's made me so much more inspired and productive in general when it comes to writing shit.
Agreed
my favorite thing about thursdays 🔥
same :)
The wolfmother part had me rolling
Don't forget the Match Made in Heaven riff too, love that one 🤘
Thursdays is awesome since TRT started, thanks to Nick with a Pick (and lately with a stick) 😬
And later with his di- oh…
Thick riffff!!!!!!
Slowly becoming my new fav weekly segment ..its awesome watching talent cook makes me wanna get in the kitchen
*Opens UA-cam hoping for a new thick riff thursday video*
*first video that shows up*
Oddly satisfying
Dude I love your content so much, I think I enjoy your creativity as much as your personality! Keep doing this!
Thank you so much 🥹
Bro i love this so much, every thursday is a gem❤
This riff is just like Thick Riff Thursday Ep. 43!
dammit, deleting the video

Exactly - or get one with adjustable tension :)
that was actually so sick omg
This might be my favorite episode in quite awhile, and they're all golden
thursdays are the best day of the week let’s gooooo
Honestly that extra (or missing) half note that changes the backbeat and results in an extra bar after the second repitition is soo sick!
So stoked to watch these each week!
The "*accidentally" in the thumbnail makes this so relatable 😅
Right on bro this RIPS! 🤘😎
OMG, this rips! Awesome, Nick! ♥
lol dead on on the "very born of osiris-y" on that harmonic
You can get a capo with adjustable tension, so that it doesn't throw off tuning. I have one from D'Addario which works like magic.
Awesome recommendation, I'll check that out

Remarkable job man. Remarkable job. 🔥
You should make a video on how you record your music
what you were talking about in the beginning i think is called music synthesis, really interesting how we can come up with a song in that way
Good lord brother, I absolutely love your content! Keep it up man!
You are a fuching machine 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘it’s great !
HELL YES TO THE HARMONY!!

Great vid as always.
If this doesn’t have 2,935,688,632,799 views when I come back to watch this again tomorrow, I’m going to be extremely upset
did not realize i have been watching thick riff thursdays for 40 weeks now, dont worry i went back and watched 1-3 to catch up ;D
I can't believe I've been making them for 43 weeks 🤯
This sounds like that one song by architects
Sick riff indeed.. love the vids bro. I've been starting to use this style of workflow more often. Thanks for the entertainment
My weekly dopamine hit is here
Ufff... this sounds so early days of djent and I'm here for it
Awesome riff, thanks for video
mad talent
Welcome to Prog World, where 9 beats is just a regular riff, bro!
Been watching for over 10 years. Crazy to think about. Love your stuff dude, keep it up
Woah 10 years!! That's crazy, thanks so much for the support!!
I was just listening to both bands and I see this drop, spooky.
Sick riff!
Love your work
Would love to see you do this for older volumes RIP Diego!
That Toneee 🤧
Bro this is the best part of my week. I’m switching to logic because of you 😅 keep it coming brother! And please toss out a tutorial for Logic Pro!!!
What daw are you using currently

justice for doggo
Thick Riff Thursday Ep 44 - Remy's Revenge
@@nickbroomhallmusic tbh that would be a sick emo deathcore (?) band name
Instead of tuning with the tuners when using a capo, pull onthe strings to adjust so that when you take the capo off you're still in tune
Great stuff as always man (is the dog okay tho)
How do you find those harmonies??!? Nasty
Crazy how good that sounded ! What about a quick mixing mastering video to show us why everything sounds good right out of the pick ?
Thanks so much!! Stay tuned for some Tutorial Tuesday episodes!
love it dude!

TRTs coming in clutch.
thiiiiccc!!!!

@@nickbroomhallmusic just kidding, that's sick riff
put this one on the album!!
I’m really anxious for more Acoustic Guitars on TRT 🥲
Doing an extra McChug for the Thursday boys 🎸
I'm surprised he doesn't feel it in 5. That was immediatly how I felt the groove.
🐐
It's not "just Doomsday"... It's like a brand new Doomsday.
wow this is just Doomsday! 😁😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘🤘
Ive been having the opposite trouble with my capos they've been too WEAK!
this guitar sings on that open low string
sooo sick you just got a new subscriber, but the end result was 38 seconds how do you take that 38 second song and make it a 3-5 minute song??????
forgot how much i love wolfmother
Same tbh
is the harmony the same notes in a higher octave or is it all different notes and still also higher

WHERE'S THE CONTINUATION OF THE ONE FROM LAST WEEK
In the Archives
Its gonna be so sad when i finish all of you TRT videos and then have to wait a whole week for a new one 😢
2:47 on repeat for the giggles - but mannn this turned out amazing.

What is tha Lilu by willimaya song? :D didn't get the name
You mean Leeloo by Veil of Maya? 😅
Thats it :D thanks
This is first Elitist EP actually!😂
What drum kit is that?
What is this "Mastering Chain" he speaks of at the end of every video?
Probably just some bus compression and a limiter
HE RAN THE DOG OVER
I GAVE HIM A TREAT, HE'S OK
Wii Ball - It sounds even more epic in Russian :DDD
6:41 lmaooo
I'm just jealous every Thursday now
This sounds just like doonsdie by the architects

Doomsday in 5/8 type beat.
I just wrote a riff ripping off your riff, I’ll record it and share it with you when I get the time 😅
I should start a series called Rip Off Nicks Riffs Friday, RONRF 🤔
