@@benjamin.kelley Volumes is somehow one of the most underrated bands ever. Idk how Erra popped off but Volumes didn’t. I basically listened to VIA once when I was younger and was like “yup, this is my personality now”.
In a time of great political turmoil and massive world conflicts it sure is nice to sit down and watch a dude just make a vibe and talk you through it. Keep making the vibes dude, it’s a good concept and has solid educational value, whether you mean to educate or not.
Oh my gosh, I was with my kids at bedtime and this vibe almost threw me into full life reflection and appreciation. Looooooovvvveee when there's so much emotion in music, Thanks Nick, you genuinely rock!
Dude, I just started making my own music about a year ago and I've learned so much from watching you put these together. Thank you for being here and doing all of this for us! 🤘🤘
Those pitch shifts in between kinda reminded me of the music of a really underrated and short-lived prog alt metal band called Pulse Ultra, love it! Keep it up dude! Your content is really inspiring.
Love the vibe and the riff! Always great work and your videos are always so amazing and help get the creative juices going. Don't ever stop this series, it's a breath of fresh air!
Damn dude I used to follow you way back on Soundcloud and in your early days - still remember your Legend of Zelda cover of Lost Woods! Banger tune. Crazy to see how you've grown immensely over the years and your production is really great man.
Would love to see some "Part Two/ Part Three" videos where you take some of your favorite Thick Riffs and turn them into a complete song. Maybe even have a vocalist over and get some vocals going.
there is nothing compared to the feeling "i suddenly composed the best piece of music ever". Even when it just last for one or two days. But when it doesn't, it's not worth to expect some likings of anybody.
I miss having an electronic kit! I’ve been doing drums on keyboard for years and I’ve gotten decent at it but there’s always the risk of doing something unplayable.
There’s a song called A Galant Gentleman by We Lost the Sea and they took a very simple chord progression and used it so strongly that now any time I hear anything remotely related to even a little bit of it in like “ITS WE LOST THE SEA 🫵” (Those octave strums set off my we lost the sea radar REALLY hard)
If I could do half of a quarter of what you do on a drum kit, I'd be fuckin stoked. You are good dude, for real. You are good musically, whatever the instrument. Cheers from France 🇨🇵❤️
That's actually so good! Thanks for sharing your process! Would you normally go for a clean cut on the drop before the main riff hits (incl. the background guitars). I felt like that would have made the drop even more dramatic. Thanks again for sharing!
For atmospheric sounds, smother a sound you record with a mic with reverb. Make it 100% wet but slowly move the dry signal up from about 10% until you just barely hear the original sound. I’ll add a bit crusher if I want grit that sounds digital or echo and another timed effect if I want something mellow but set the high cut around 900hz to keep it dark.
Love your content!!! Been a fan since season1! Drummer with a masters in music here, if I can offer something to help, if you put your drum stool up a little higher and sit just a TEENSY bit further back, you should be able to get a lot more leverage behind your double kicks and it should be easier to play as well as help with getting your trigger to detect all of the notes you're playing. Keep crushing it!! I watch your videos to learn for my own projects and you have helped me SO much!!
Hands down this is the best TRT you have done in my amateur opinion. The simplicity speaks volumes here. Also did I hear you are working with Dearest?! That's nuts.
Writing the next Volumes single like it’s 2014.
came here to say the same thing hahahah

The thall ones and the redbull-fueled deathcore one were the best ones, uncontested
@@totalcomputerdependency yes they’re great, and this may not be the “thickest” one but man am i a sucker for ambient stuff lol

Also man this is one of the most inspirational eps I’ve seen in a while. Loving the vibe
All I could hear on the chord progression on the keys before he added the clean guitar was blessed with a curse.
Was sitting making a lead to those riffs in my head.. felt the vibe. Been writing in a similar fashion recently.
The panned scratches is such a sick idea, the little detail that makes the riff for me
The clean stuff combined with the killer groove is immaculate
"Currently tracking some Dearest stuff" oh HELL YEAH
