i think both of the commenters have viewed my post as negative. Nothing could be further.... it is the highest compliment i can give. Simplicity is beauty and being creative within such a strict circumstance is the height of artistry...
It's that Imaginary Boy inside of him ... his outside has gotten older, but he's still the same kid he always was. They all are in their own ways. It's beautiful.
It's like he came out of the womb with that amazing voice, fully-formed. Going back as far as the 70s if you listen to his voice even in live recordings, his voice was just there *BAM* --as if he never even had to practice.
I remember in an interview (maybe in the late 80s) they asked Robert Plant (Led Zep) if he thought any other band was doing something as cool as Led Zeppelin did with music. He said yes, The Cure.
I remember back.1988 n i was 12 im into heavy metal n gangstas rap then I discovered bands like The Cure,The Smith n Depeche Mode definitely changed my life!!
@@mrmike743 It's a pop song with a great groove. You don't have to be a Cure fanatic to enjoy it. She wouldn't be dancing to it to be nice. She'd be sitting in her chair.
@@geoffchappell2184 idk if everyone else around you is standing and grooving and your sitting your gonna most likely stand too. The look on her face was that she's heard the song before but in passing. I doubt she's a cure fan. Would you believe that cardi b is a pet shop boys fan?
Michael Mccollum I would. Especially with the internet, boundaries on what people listen to are going away. Pop artists specifically tend to be open to whatever.
I would like to think that but she was most likely being nice. She was being put in the hall that night too (although I have no idea how one of my favorite bands Depeche mode is not in but Janet is)
@@mrmike743 She wasn't being nice? Without being offensive, I'm afraid to tell you you are incorrect, she was showing her love. Janet & Michael were what you called "Clock artists. They would clock every single little detail of anyone who had that something special, the Cure did & do, especially Robert. How do I know this? I was in & around the industry in the late 90's, & have a friend who knows Robert personally. I've heard some early cuts of the Cure's material that was sent by Robert to him, lots of unreleased stuff. I will give you a little nugget. In the video Michael & Janet did "Scream" Janet based her look on Robert, I was told first hand.
One of my favorite all time bands for the last 30 years. What I love about this is how they come out with a flawless performance at something Robert didn't really care about! Just showing no matter what, the Cure will bring their A game.
In those years I only listened to metal.. I had a few Girlfriends who loved the cure... this music stands the test of time better that most of what I was into.
The mos beautiful compositions by Robert Smith are for you Mary Poole, how Lucky you are...without a doubt a true love that transcends history and time.❤❤❤❤❤😍😍😍😍😍😍🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
this is a song that gives such positive vibes which go through the hearts to the head I love this arrangement I love because it shows us the truth no one is beautiful everyone puts on a mask but there are people at whom you want to take off the mask that he would see you as you are
Without a doubt.. Lyrically one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
he changes six words between all three verses. amazing songwriting.
@@jasonmgomez He didn't write ,,the best", but ,,the most beautiful". Feel the difference?

@lucy bond seriously, what part?
its a pretty straightforward statement, i thought?
@lucy bond no worries, lucy. I was truly confused.. thanks for discussing with me.
How does his voice remain so timeless?! Blind side by side with a recording of this thirty years ago would not know the difference.
It's that Imaginary Boy inside of him ... his outside has gotten older, but he's still the same kid he always was. They all are in their own ways. It's beautiful.
His voice remains unchanged.. Stunning voice
And he got a better musician while.

I've never seen Janet so authentically touched by music. She is a real fan, then again how can you not be?
Hahaha, what? She merely shook her head, in a slight manner even.
Being a Janet fan, the thumbnail brought me here. The song kept me here
who is JANET?
his voice still same even a decades.
I remember in an interview (maybe in the late 80s) they asked Robert Plant (Led Zep) if he thought any other band was doing something as cool as Led Zeppelin did with music. He said yes, The Cure.
The Cure's 'golden era' guitarist Porl Thompson toured with Plant too
Robert Smith grew up liking Cream, Zeppelin, Hendrix.
This song was a wedding gift to his wife Mary Poole, who is in the audience. :):):):):):)
One of the greatest love songs ever written.
Best band of all time...
thats going a little too far
One of maybe but you also have The Beatles, The Smiths, Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones etc etc
What?? Lol
I wouldn't say the best band of all time though. Probably one of the best.
I believe so.
...still the same voice. Never old Robert Smith. Whenever I´m alone with you I feel like I´m at home again...
I remember back.1988 n i was 12 im into heavy metal n gangstas rap then I discovered bands like The Cure,The Smith n Depeche Mode definitely changed my life!!
Seeing Janet Jackson nodding to the sound of The Cure is the highlight of this video.
And Susannah Hoffs from the Bangles just before Janet
Sorry Janet was there for her own award,I seriously doubt she's a cure fan. Most likely she's being nice.

Amazing, profound, dark, sublime, exquisite voice and music: The Cure
1:34 Such an awesome moment when you know your music touches people from all genres of music. I’m sure MJ dug them too!
I would like to think that but she was most likely being nice. She was being put in the hall that night too (although I have no idea how one of my favorite bands Depeche mode is not in but Janet is)
Funny, Janet's song was placed N1 in USA charts and 2nd was The Cure's Lovesong , but i think Cure deserved first spot

Even Janet Jackson was like: 🥰
Effin crazy how he sounds the same as 30 years ago
Now that's how you hold a bass guitar!

I'll echo bolondrona's comment: amazing, profound, dark, sublime, exquisite, TIMELESS :)
I will always be grateful. Once upon a time The Cure saved me from myself.
I think they saved quite a few of us.
So glad I managed to see them live for the first time in 2019 in Glasgow!
In those years I only listened to metal.. I had a few Girlfriends who loved the cure... this music stands the test of time better that most of what I was into.
Simon is just so perfect.
still sounds fresh from the day this song came out on the record bars....the cure 4ever
Robert Smith's dedication to his craft is very obvious here
Masterpiece!!! Amazing...

One of the world's greatest songs ever! Genius!
I will always love them!!!!
That guitarist in the white pants reminds me of one of the kids from People Under the Stairs that was under the stairs
Just stunning. I will always be humbled that I grew up with such great music!
Best band of.alltime
simply can't stop watching this !
you know you're the shit when Janet Jackson is on her feet grooving! This is their best song.
This is an Anthem and his voice is untouched, impressive!

Simply outstanding. Thats it.
The most perfect song to dance to at your wedding 💙
Can't love this song more!! True world CLASSIC!
If only for a few moments I can escape reality and go back.
Band sets a great atmosphere, for Robert's great voice to complete this masterpiece.

greatest song ever written................................
This has been the music fulfilling my dark days, in secrecy, silently 🖤
Great band !
One of the best songs of one of my favourites bands those 40 last years.
Cosa que adoro de ellos SIEMPRE VARIAN COSAS DEL TEMA REVER, ECOS DE VOZ.... ETC que grandiosos son
Robert Smith’s voice is the instrument that makes them The Cure
How has his voice gotten better?
They are the best ❤❤❤❤❤

Whoever the woman is at the 50 second mark taking pictures is beautiful.
I think it's Robert Smith sister. She was also married to Porl Thompson, ex the cure guitar player.
You a literal 0 if you can't appreciate this🤣20212
Wkwkkkk
more heart in this version..311 live.. sounds flat. sry. js
Robert has turned into an old woman
I thought the same...
Don't tell
That woman can still sing though!! Idiot...
Hahah I thought the same
Roseanne can sing!!!
Wonder if Simon has any back Issues. Dude has been playing the bass like that for decades.
