Crying listening to Trent too. I grew up and older loving The Cure and fall in love with NIN a few years after! Trent's speach get my heart full and give me goosebumps! ♥️
That was as lucid, thoughtful, and complimentary a speech that I have ever heard. I didn't realize that Trent Reznor had all these qualities, "in spades," as he does...
Most money I have ever spent on a concert ticket was for The Cure. Front row center! Robert Smith stared right thru me at times! Loved seeing all of his Gretsch guitars. Best money I ever spent.
@@matiasmoulin2126 it’s called a teleprompter ...about ten feet out from where he’s standing there is a screen with it scrolling through so he can read of it or reference if needed .......he did personally wrote what he’s saying
I've watched this at least three times, and I still tear up at this speech. You can hear the adoration in Trent's words. He understands what all Cure fans do.
The Cure has been almost criminally underappreciated for a very long time. But if I’m honest, I selfishly gotta say I don’t mind it. I say that because they pulled off being one of the greatest bands in the history rock… but somehow never stopped feeling like a niche band to us fans. How many bands could we say that about? I love these guys.
And you should be proud!! The cure is a well respected group and has brought life to the music industry. Robert is such a wholesome man and no person will ever replicate his style. Greetings from Canada
You guys just have the BEST bands ever. I'm an American and all my favorite bands have been British! The Cure and Depeche Mode are unique and have paved the way for others.
Couldn't have got a better person to induct The Cure. Trent is such an interesting man and speaks so intelligently and eloquently. I love Trent and The Cure both
Trent is so right. I love The Cure my favorite band. I use to dress like him and try to get my hair just like him. I play punk but we cover “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Just Like Heaven “ .
Beautifully articulate introduction by Trent Reznor does justice to a great band. A massive part of my teenage years and early adulthood, the Cure are without doubt a band of my life.....
Oh how I cried listening to Trent explain what this band did for him in his youth. So, so many of us that came of age during that time feel the same exact way. I remember thinking that I’d discovered the most amazing band in the world and I didn’t want to tell anybody, fearing that popularity would change things. I love them just as much today. ❤❤❤
I discovered the cure in my.mid twenties. I sometimes believe it saved my life. I no longer listen often as it can be depressing. But at the time it helped me emerge from my depression. Forever grateful
It's so moving for Cure fans that I must have watched this video more than 10 times. It's so great that we are offered to see Robert's reaction to some parts. Trenzor's speech has always looked so perfect to me... until I've come to realize that I miss a special praise for Simon Gallup.
Omgosh where have I been that I didn't know The Cure was inducted. They were my inner montage for life and still make an appearance when I deeply feel and express. Belated congrats from a lonely college freshman that visually and audibly didn't know what to do with but they liked her enough to in its to parties and hang out.
Trent Reznor made a wonderful speech. Hadn't really heard much from The Cure except what I heard on VH1. But a few years ago I found The Cure Greatest Hits and the extension of that 'Galore' in a CD bin. And I've been binging on their music since. Brilliant band, trendsetting band and they're absolutely deserving of this recognition. 💯💯
I remember listening to the 1989 album 'disintegration' was how i imagined the soundtrack and soundscape of how the disaffecting youth growing up in the public and what robert smith's lyrics meant to me and I also remember when growing up how anna lawrenson and her sister ruth were very into the band and how it spoke to me leaving school. I also wish I could have gone to the gig at the old wembley stadium which I think would have a tremendous atmosphere and a gig you would never forget.
When I would hear a new song from THE CURE I would always feel like it was written just me like it was wrote for my life story oh how I connect and love THE CURE my favorite band of all time.
There have been so many bland, unengaging and even stupid induction speeches at R&RHoF over the years. This one by Trent Reznor was the opposite. He is so obviously a real fan who is excited and proud that one of his early heroes are acknowledged this way in his home country. Intelligent, heartfelt thoughtful and genuine. I wish they would always do what they can to find people like him to honour inductees.
this is because he feels this like a revenge of the weirdos, outclassed, freakies who were bullied for years all over the world in those years. He's part of this group, so it's personal to him and you can tell it.
Love this amazing speech from one of my music heroes from my formative years about another. Trent describes the feeling perfectly, when one is exposed to life-changing, mind-blowing music that knows your soul.
That was a endearing, highly complimentary speech ever. Pointing out it was a bit too long to recognize The Cure. I think many were getting pissed at the groups getting the recognition while others which were pivotal in the music world were ignored. I mean this band personified the beauty and transformation which was the 80s.
what a beautiful way to describe Roberts voice, i saw them at Trafalgar square at a CND rally, i think, i was able to see the square surrounded iconic art, all dark except The Cure , in the middle glowing , surrounded by a cauldron of people in the dark. i was way at back, but could see this glorious sight ,,,,in tthe evening and I thought that I will never ever forget that wonderous scene,, thankyou Cure and Thankyou Robert xxxxxx
I live in a black neighborhood. Work out in my garage regularly. Last night was working out. Garage door opened and was blasting the pornography cd(playlist) the whole time. Something about those dark bass lines and dark subject matter just get me in a zone. My neighbors are like wtf are you listening too. Ever since middle school I've loved the cure. Almost 50 now and still do. Especially any of their productions before and including kiss me. Although the real dark stuff from the early mid 80s is their best work. Hands down. I also love Modern English After The Snow and the cult Dreamtine. Both fantastic albums. So glad I grew up in north county San Diego and was exposed to all that music. Most my family sticks to urban music. I like it too.. to a point. But find myself getting lost in those early mid 80s cure albums.
Weird that the first album that Trent heard was Head On The Door. That's The Cure's 6th album. He's 57 after all. The Cure had reached their peak by then.
I am crying listening to Trent describing how he and the fans feel about The Cure. He couldn’t have said this any better.
I watched the whole thing because of your comment.
Crying listening to Trent too. I grew up and older loving The Cure and fall in love with NIN a few years after! Trent's speach get my heart full and give me goosebumps! ♥️
Me too. Just a perfect induction.
❤️❤️❤️
omg glad I'm not the only one crying!
Trent was the perfect individual to induct The Cure. NIN is legendary and he is really a true fan of The Cure.
This is the kind of speech where you immediately want to go listen to The Cure. Really well done.
Tent also needs to be inducted. Not only awesome music but Oscan winning Soundtracks!
I didnt even wait til the end. Halfway through, I went and listened to "Head on the Door" and then came back and finished the speech.
"Anchored by the most exquisite of instruments...Robert Smith's voice". Amen Trent. Amen. 💗
That was as lucid, thoughtful, and complimentary a speech that I have ever heard. I didn't realize that Trent Reznor had all these qualities, "in spades," as he does...
Trent Reznor looks GREAT! He's 55 years old in this clip. Could easily pass for 40.
Could honestly pass for 35
Trent Reznor knows how us The Cure fans feel about The Cure. No one could have said it better.
The Cure changed my life.
Most money I have ever spent on a concert ticket was for The Cure. Front row center! Robert Smith stared right thru me at times! Loved seeing all of his Gretsch guitars. Best money I ever spent.
What a remarkable and perfect speech.
Geez, Trent Reznor hardly put a word wrong, he either rehearsed this speech over and over or he's just extremely good at public speaking!
I suspect that he reads it - not that I doupt his capability, he's a good speaker - but it sounds almost too fluent. And he's using lyric sheets live.
@@matiasmoulin2126 it’s called a teleprompter ...about ten feet out from where he’s standing there is a screen with it scrolling through so he can read of it or reference if needed .......he did personally wrote what he’s saying
Good speech, but it is on the teleprompter in front of him next to the camera. That is why you can se him looking that way
You can see he's reading...
Karaoke speech-making. 🤓
It's crazy that The Cure & NIN are inducted a year apart.
I've watched this at least three times, and I still tear up at this speech. You can hear the adoration in Trent's words. He understands what all Cure fans do.
what a speech. WOW. Trent, awesome job. The Cure are arguably the most underrated band of the past few decades.
To know The Cure is to admire The Cure. To not know The Cure is to underrate them.
Only a genious like Trent could pull such a perfect speech for this one of a kind, perfect band
Such a great speech. Whoever helped Trent write it should have a job for life.
Love trent reznor
Prajwal don 😻
"a 100% robert smith type of person who live a 100% authentic robert smith life" well said Trent.
I’m British, and proud to say that The Cure are OUR national treasure 🇬🇧
And you should be proud!!
The cure is a well respected group and has brought life to the music industry. Robert is such a wholesome man and no person will ever replicate his style.
Greetings from Canada
The smiths are better
I am french, but I can confirm that your country brought a lot of treasure in 20th century music history.
@Zamo the smiths arnt even in the same stratosphere as the cure. Not even close.
You guys just have the BEST bands ever. I'm an American and all my favorite bands have been British! The Cure and Depeche Mode are unique and have paved the way for others.

Dinosaur Jr. has a great version of Just Like Heaven
Beautifully articulate introduction by Trent Reznor does justice to a great band. A massive part of my teenage years and early adulthood, the Cure are without doubt a band of my life.....
He completely nails it! To this day, I Still have so many reminiscing feelings hearing The Cure!
Robert is so shy, but he dealt with it with such class and humor.
I've always loved the cure,it's pure music...
I discovered the cure in my.mid twenties. I sometimes believe it saved my life. I no longer listen often as it can be depressing. But at the time it helped me emerge from my depression. Forever grateful

He just couldn't have been more spot on. A brilliant induction speech.
What a wonderful speech for such an epic band.
This tribute and the Cure's induction makes me HAPPY
Omgosh where have I been that I didn't know The Cure was inducted. They were my inner montage for life and still make an appearance when I deeply feel and express. Belated congrats from a lonely college freshman that visually and audibly didn't know what to do with but they liked her enough to in its to parties and hang out.
Makes me happy I stayed true to myself and the cure was always there with me.
I am admiring those lovely british ladies family of the Cure...mothers of the gifts

And now Reznor will be inducted

THE CURE my favorite band of all time.
Beautiful, brilliant cure..
Wow that was a pure tribute to their talent, couldn’t have been said better 🙏❤️
Great band. Always lived their quirky looks and fantastic songs. I hope they go on forever and ever...!!!

Finally, my youth acknowledged
That speech was just like heaven. Love.
What a speech!
Love this amazing speech from one of my music heroes from my formative years about another. Trent describes the feeling perfectly, when one is exposed to life-changing, mind-blowing music that knows your soul.
I cried during this live broadcasting. It was so surreal.
Best speech Ever 👍❤️👍
I cry everytime I watch this. He is spot on. What a God sent to share existence with your soulmate band.
I agree Trent, it's amazing how people write this.

Right?
Weird that the first album that Trent heard was Head On The Door. That's The Cure's 6th album.
He's 57 after all.
The Cure had reached their peak by then.
Seventeen seconds, Faith, Pornography, astonishing sequence.
