  • As MDF continues to replace timber for a lot of my work and with the inherent risk of breathing in MDF dust, I decided now was the time to focus on better dust extraction... but with my 1/4" router unable to connect directly to the airlock system I've been investigating suitable adapters.
In this video I review the different airlock adaptors that come in the dust connection woodworking kit (DWV9220), allowing the connection of DeWalt and non-DeWalt tools to my brushless cordless m-class dust extractor.

Glad it helped! 👍🏼 - The internet was lacking any useful info on this kit so had to make a UA-cam video!! 🎥

didn't hear you say the number for the rubber adaptor. DeWalt doesn't show the rubber attachment that you use, but it does have a similar one with a rubber tip - DWV 9120 - I For those of us with vacuums (or hoovers) with a 2" hose, we have to screw DWV9190 to the end of the universal adapter to increase the hose size. Hopefully, the screw off part of the rubber attachment will allow us to screw 9190 to the adaptor - eliminating an extra adaptor.

Yeah, we’re talking about the same rubber adapter (dwv-9120) which I demo’d in the vid. Might be an idea to add their numbers to the description to make it easier for viewers to refer back 👍🏼😉

Nice video, very useful. I have the same router and a few other tools. However, I also have a Dewalt table saw (7492) and I struggle to find an adaptor that fits over the outside of the extraction port (not an Airlock system). Currently its connected to a Festool extractor but am thinking of the Dewalt DWV905M but not sure that will work either. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for the comment 👍🏼 In answer to your question “Is there an adapter” the answer is more than likely… even if it’s not an official adapter people seem to be using plastic printers to print there own and sell them. I thought the 7492 came with an airlock adapter but if not try searching DeWalt 1004695-90 which slides inside the dust port and would allow you to connect to dwv905m. In all honesty I would stick with Festool when it comes to dust extraction as currently I still think they excel over DeWalt extractors. Hopefully DeWalt will up their came with next gen of extractors.

@@burwoodbuild Appreciate the feedback, Festool are good but the Dewalt is more powerful and to stop the copious amount of dust from the table saw, I need all the suction I can get!!

Does the piece you unthreaded fit inside the extractor hose?

Just tried it now… it does screw internally into a DeWalt hose and it’s a nice tight fit! 👍🏼 I’ve seen a DeWalt hose extension so you could easily connect an extra length of hose! 😊 Good thinking!
