Watching from Austria, 50km away from the boarder to Germany we call it "Zollstock". But in fact professionals dont use it a lot any more, it is more a DIY thing. And it is used a lot as a Promotional gift at trade fairs for example just because it has a large area to print on and the traditional hardwood variant also has a bit of a sustainable character in contrast to the usual plastic junk...

We use folding rulers in Scandinavia as well, you'll find them in most tool shops here. Empire (the company that makes the levels etc from the U.S.) even make one.
Wow some neat tools, I have to say my favourite was the folding ruler. The Bit holder was close second. I think every one should have the mystery tool bags this would be a good way to promote a new tool. Thanks for the video.

I'm from the UK but I live in Germany - I could not believe the difference in German Baumärkte compared with UK ones when I first moved here. They sell actual tools and fixings you might want to use or need. In the UK I gave up trying to buy tools and fixings from places like B&Q many many years ago. In Hornbach and Sonderpreisbaumarkt you can still buy individual screws and such by weight, it's amazing. Mind you - I much prefer the plumbing options I had in the UK.
That bit holder is awesome. Now I need to get one. Just found your channel, when I was in the US Air Force our tool boxes where shadowed for FOD, foreign object damage, prevention. Made it really easy to identify any missing tools. I remember having to cut and glue the different color foam. Your product would have been a godsend back in the day. As I look through your website I had notice no mention of FOD prevention, which is required for anyone working on jet aircraft. I've watched Jet engines pull moisture out of concrete in a desert, that's how powerful they suck.

Man, amazing content! Thanks for being so happy and positive about our stuff in Germany! I guess we sometimes are too pessimistic and grumby but you've got the right attitude!
Zollstock? We in south Germany say "Meter" 😉 the normal used Meter is in Wood or Plastik. The Wera "Tool Tüte" ist very interesting, ife never Seen this in our OBI. Greatthings from Germany 👍🏻🙂✌🏻
Or you could use the official word
"Gliedermaßstab" ;)
Watching from Austria, 50km away from the boarder to Germany we call it "Zollstock". But in fact professionals dont use it a lot any more, it is more a DIY thing. And it is used a lot as a Promotional gift at trade fairs for example just because it has a large area to print on and the traditional hardwood variant also has a bit of a sustainable character in contrast to the usual plastic junk...
nobody cares about south germany, you are a separatist breakaway region - who constantly pretends to be better than anyone else...
the country says zollstock - because thats the name unchanged from medieval times, you cannot know that because in medieval times southern germany was still northern italy or something haha...
meter. deine mudder....
Aussie here. Spent an Arvo in an OBI when I was in Germany a few years ago. Def the Wera tools was a good buy!
2:57 - Didn't realize that someone had brought lootboxes to tools.
Love these tool videos showing the offerings from different countries.
I have no idea how I landed here, but as a German architecture student, I am intrigued 😂
Can’t believe you don’t use Zollstocks in the UK, I have like 5 at home because in architecture you get them as gifts basically everywhere haha
You can also very easily open up beer bottles with the rulers. Very handy.
I have to admit, that's a really good idea that Tooltute. I could see that being very addictive. It's interesting to see how everyone in the world does things just a little bit different than the rest and how some retailers sell a product that really stands out from the offerings in most stores. Thanks for the entertainment!
Absolutely loved the video! It's fantastic to see how well German tools are received and appreciated worldwide. The craftsmanship and quality truly shine through. Can't wait to see more amazing work like this!
Yea but don’t tell them
@@lesliekillingback4971 Top late. Most of us understand english very well.
But thanks for the positive thoughts, we appreciate that. 😊
I love tools and love the ones you find. Don’t ever stop
Love this channel, lived in Germany for 2 years. Got me hooked on gimmick tools. Oh and Wera collection started!
Keep up the great work!
Being a retired Sparkie I love the Pliers and the Voltage indicator, fantastic idea! although I still have my Dads old Imperial Folding Ruler that I use time to time.
You should try a bifi carazza, they are sliced up pepperoni with a pizza sauce inside bread. It’s really good
Wera is a really quirky tool company - and thanks a lot for that Wera! I’ve gathered quite a collection of Wera tools and some odd bits. Yep, a Wera tool rebel.. I’m housing in Norway, and I’m eager to make a tool tour to Germany, there must essentially be THE country for tools. They are good at import foreign quality tools as well.
We use folding rulers in Scandinavia as well, you'll find them in most tool shops here. Empire (the company that makes the levels etc from the U.S.) even make one.
The bit carrier is a great idea . I went through about 5 the other day & had to keep stopping to dig out bits.
THAT IS PRETTY COOL, SURPRISE BAGS.
Love the little power detector on the pliers. For a chippy, that ‘s a def bonus for quickly checking.
The folding ruler takes me back to rummaging through my Granddad's toolbox all those years ago. keep up the great videos.
Those tooltutes are great they remind me of those surprise toys I bought when I was little
JUST COME ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL THIS IS WHAT I CALL BANGIN IT'S WICKED LOVE SEEING WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES OFFER AND THEY WELL CHEAP TOO...
Interesting seeing different tools from around the world
Wow some neat tools, I have to say my favourite was the folding ruler. The Bit holder was close second. I think every one should have the mystery tool bags this would be a good way to promote a new tool. Thanks for the video.
I hadn’t seen that Wera made a stubby before. So cool! Thanks for sharing!
I’d love to trip around the world, buying tools, sending them home for a second Christmas after each trip. Then to just have a super organised workshop. A fella can only but dream.
These tool shopping in different country videos are ne of my fav style of videos you do . Keep them up !
Love those little mystery bags.
Love these collection videos. I always try and find a tool shop while on holiday with the family!!
I love that little bit holder. what a great innovation!
I used to have a folding rule, but I never thought it was as easy as a tape measure. You had another great haul there. See you at Makers Central.
I’m so liking your format. Only found you at the tools fair and your covering my needs.
I thought I had seen everything until I saw the extending bit holster. Thanks for the tour!
Another great collection of quirky tools. Love the Sill-Willi.
Great idea the wera lucky bags. I usually get the advent calendar
Enjoying these videos. Nice to see tools from the continent.
I love your foreign tool shopping trips and many new tools that we don't see here keep up the good stuff
I love all the quirky tools you find. My favorite is the retractable bit holder.
Love the video. I did not see those mystery bags when I went to the OBI store a couple years ago in Germany. I’m from the states. I really do enjoy seeing what’s offered other countries.
I don’t even do that much DIY, but for some reason find your videos very satisfying!
Tools tools tools, glad I'm not the only one who is obsessed
I love how the light is on and when it detects power it turns off that is a great Idea other wise you have to check it on something with power before you can check the thing your working on.
Love all these quirky tools from different countries. Great video
OBIs LUX Tools are "their inhouse brand" and I love it. My Whole toolbox is Blue. As I moved out, I went to OBI and got almost all tools, I've seen my Dad use over the years. All by LUX. They arent the best of the best quality but for what I need my tools, they are more than perfect! And They are affordable!
it's always fun to learn something new about other countrys way of thinking. here in Italy there's OBI too but there's half the variety of tools I've seen in the video.
Really enjoying watching you find these unique tools, the bit holster looks useful.
Those mystery bags are so cool. Love the videos by the way been binging through so many of them for the past week.
Love seeing the quirky tools in these videos, good content
Wow. You never disappoint. I agree with your ratings. Really like the retractable bit holder. Keep up the hunt for those unique tools.
This format it's the turning point. Really enjoying it😁
Thank you mate, I’m really enjoying making them! 👍
I love this style of video, keeps me wanting stuff that you see and I think is cool
This channel is so fun to watch. Living the dreamlife you are🇧🇻
I would absolutely buy a tool blind bag, what a great gift idea.
Tool hunting at DIY stores-my new favorite series! 🛠🔧
Stay tuned, got plenty more coming up! 👍
This channel is very addictive, I have bought the pre-cut dewalt foam but still not decided what to use it for.
Glad I'm not the only one with a zollstock obsession
I love that bit holder...really need to find somewhere to get one of them!
Love seeing all the quirky tools!
Travel around buying tools! Dream come true!
I just saw this and have to say I love OBI. It is the best hardware store I’ve ever seen. Coincidentally it was started by the grandfather of my brother’s college roommate whose last name is Lux. I have several lux tools and they are fantastic. Wish they had an OBI near me.
