It was nice to hear that Andy was supportive of Don when his contract ended and he went off to make movies. And that Andy directed the first one no less. They were friends to the end.
Clint and Ron are real people, I've always been a fan of both of them. My mom worked at the nursing home called sunny shores in St Petersburg Fla in the early eighties. Cocoon was filmed there and MGM needed extras .Mom got a small extra job out of it. I have pictures with Ron with my mom and step-dad. He was still young back then.
I met Clint when my family and I lived in the small town of Piru, California which is a popular Hollywood backlot for filming for movies and television located about 50 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Clint Howard and Judge Reinhold were at the Piru Mansion filming a movie named PING and we were watching on the sidelines. They were between scenes and on a break and Clint and Judge were on a hold golf cart coming up the driveway and they stopped and asked us make sure to stay off the driveway because they were expecting a delivery truck and didn't want to see anyone get run over. We assured them that we would and they thanked us and returned to the movie set. A few minutes later the director called dinner break and Clint and Judge both approached us again and invited us to have dinner with them and the crew. We thanked them and politely passed on their offer because we had just eaten before we got there. They were both very friendly, talkative and approachable and my two kids that were with me still talk about meeting them too. If either of you see this we would like to say thank you again for your hospitality that day.

I was filling in for a still photographer on a union show for a day a few years back and Clint was playing a judge. He was very kind to everyone on the set and he was very cooperative with me allowing me to get the photos I needed to get. It make a day go better when an actor is nice to work with.

The location is so peaceful and serene, in the middle of a very urban area. Was there a few years ago. Hope they keep the park as undeveloped for years to come.
60 years after it was made, the show is still on rotation across the country. If there was ever a marker for success in the entertainment biz, its longevity. 150 channels and more often than not, I end up watching the channel that's broadcasting the Andy Griffith Show. For child stars they really kept it together through the years. So glad for them. I think a big part of it was early 60s culture which for the most part didn't have a lot of mind destroying drug temptations. Of course they could have messed their lives up later but didn't.
Good parents.
The others of the day were silly comedies, but the A.G. show was as much drama as it was funny.
Ironically the road on which Opie and Andy walked is also the same road that "Combat" was filmed.
Interesting, Combat with Vic Morrow were a favorite of mine growing up.
Yeah, a lot of stuff is filmed there, but can you explain what the irony is in that?
@@Techridr Seems obvious enough. Peaceful small town father and son strolling down a quiet path to spend time sitting on the bank of a lake fishing vs gory, violent, bloody scenes of war and destruction...
No irony. It just had what a producer envisioned.
Cute when Leon would offer Barney a bite of his PB&J sandwich.
Clint has always been my favorite howard brother.
I honestly loved Clint as Johnny Bark on Arrested Development the interaction between him and Portia de Rossi's Lindsay character was hilarious.
This is one of my favorite parks here in LA. Everytime I'm there, I start automatically whistling the theme song. :)
It’s interesting to me that a production company is using that spot. It must be a terrific location. Just started following your channel. I enjoyed watching the AG show and will still watch it if it’s on. Have a great day.
