He and Andy played off each other SO well - both comedically and dramatically. The emotions could be very real sometimes, in episodes where Opie had to face decisions on his own.

I am about 2 years older than Ron Howard, so we are contemporaries. I lived in a small farm town in Northern California for some years as a kid in the early 1960s and it was just like Mayberry. It's on every day by me for several hours. It doesn't work for me anymore. But anyone who grew up around that time should be saddened were we are now. I grew up in NJ and had a Mark Twain childhood.
I really like the episodes, that are in black and white best. There are several that I can watch over and over, throughout the year. The spoiled rotten kid with his new bicycle; the time that the ‘guys’ lived alone, while Aunt Bee was away; the female prisoners up in that cabin and Floyd and Barney are their prisoners; the ‘Mr. Scrooge’ old store owner, who keeps trying to be arrested in order to have CHX with the other; when Aunt Bee arrives to take care of Opie (and Andy) and he wants the his newly married sitter to stay; when Opie sneaks in to the elderly ladies potting shed, for extra special flowers - - near the still; and so many others.

That is except for a married Andy sneaking off to a hotel on occasion with Aneta, the woman who was, according to Daniel de Vice in his book Andy and Don, the love of his life. There was a lot more that wasn't Mayberry- wholesome as well, such as the fact that Andy and Don drank quite a bit. We're dealing with fantasy here, but it was good fantasy.
@leo, I’m sure some of that may even be true. Being human means being flawed. The themes back then strived to put forward a positive message, a message of hope. Today, we can’t even define the difference between a man and women. The norm is to call good, bad and bad we accept as good. No, I will take those days any day of the week. At least they tried. We’ve given up.

Wow what a treat. So great to hear Clint compliment his mother. It really isn’t easy to be the one doing the less glamorous, more every day tasks. I’m sure your mom is proud to hear you acknowledge that Clint! 😊
Thank you Clint for doing this, this country needs this more than you know, or maybe you do, i grew up watching you and your brother and believe me it sticks with a person to see value's as a child growing up in the 60's i never thought our world would be going through the mess it is now i subscribed and hit the like button because i know it helps me to deal with whats going on in the world to go back to the time when it was good and i mean people actually had values and morals, thanks my friend.

Barney w/ his one bullet & deputizing Gomer.citizens arrest lol
Heart warming. This is what made America great. Great actors, very decent people, good values, and they still managed to have a great time. They set good examples for American society. This was truly the golden age of America.
And they were stronger without diversity. Can't believe people bought into that b.s.
@@Mikesorrento3344 I totally agree. Aspirational is better than throwing in the towel.

Anything about this great timeless show is a treat to me. Thanks. I want to see them all.
Yes, and it's too bad that most of them have past on.
Simply a great show. Then, now and forever.
Thank you for sharing this I love The Andy Griffith Show I watched you three times a day and if I miss it up out my DVDs then I have Andy Griffin t-shirt I recently tried to start a Andy Griffin fan club here in Evansville Indiana it started the year I was born but I absolutely love it and I never get tired of the reruns
I think I've watched every one of them. I think these type shows help install the values the older generation has today

My favorite show! Thank you, Clint. I'll eat a peanut butter sandwich in your honor.
I'm reading it, too, and I'm so glad I heard the boys talking about it on Rob Lowe's podcast. What a great book. Love those Howard brothers.
Swinging bat and Ron's head! You guys had a lot of fun.
I watched the show as a kid and still watch it.
NOBODY was ever more generous with their peanut butter and jam sandwiches than Leon.
A true cowboy with a big heart, where actions said so much more than words could ever say. ❤
For the record, I fell hard for "Peggy" when she and Andy sang that love song sitting on the porch of the house. 😢
What a beautiful woman..
💘
Too bad she had such a crap personal life.

Yes, she had a hard life..
Loved this show my entire life every day I watch!!
Wow what a treat. So great to hear Clint compliment his mother. It really isn’t easy to be the one doing the less glamorous, more every day tasks. I’m sure your mom is proud to hear you acknowledge that Clint! 😊
Just a wonderful show!
Thank you for doing this Clint. I hope you and your loved ones are well.
I still watch this show and fully enjoy them.
