The Andy Griffith Show is an American situation comedy television series that aired on CBS from October 3, 1960 to April 1, 1968, with a total of 249 half-hour episodes spanning eight seasons--159 in black and white and 90 in color.
The series originated partly from an episode of The Danny Thomas Show. The show starred Andy Griffith as Andy Taylor, the widowed sheriff of Mayberry, North Carolina, a fictional community of 2,000 people. Other major characters include Andy's cousin, the well-meaning and enthusiastic deputy, Barney Fife (Don Knotts); Andy's aunt and housekeeper, Bee Taylor (Frances Bavier); and Andy's young son, Opie (Ron Howard). Eccentric townspeople and, periodically, Andy's girlfriends complete the cast. Regarding the tone of the show, Griffith said that despite a contemporary setting, the show evoked nostalgia, saying in a Today Show interview, "Well, though we never said it, and though it was shot in the '60s, it had a feeling of the '30s. It was, when we were doing it, of a time gone by."
The series never placed lower than seventh in the Nielsen ratings, ending its final season at number one. The only other shows to end their runs at the top of the ratings are I Love Lucy (1957) and Seinfeld (1998). On separate occasions, it has been ranked by TV Guide as the ninth- and thirteenth-best series in American television history. Though neither Griffith nor the show won awards during its eight-season run, co-stars Knotts and Bavier accumulated a combined total of six Emmy Awards. The series spawned its own spin-off-- Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964) and a reunion telemovie, Return to Mayberry (1986).
After the eighth season, when Griffith left the series, it was retitled Mayberry, R.F.D., with Ken Berry and Buddy Foster replacing Griffith and Howard in new roles. In the new format, it ran for 78 episodes, ending in 1971 after three seasons. Reruns of The Andy Griffith Show are often shown on TV Land, MeTV, The CW and SundanceTV. On those channels, the episodes are edited to make room for commercials, but some airings on SundanceTV air the full uncut versions. The complete series is available on DVD and is intermittently available on such streaming video services as Amazon Prime. Mayberry Days, an annual festival celebrating the sitcom, is held each year in Griffith's hometown, Mount Airy, North Carolina.

I've always loved the show.Good family values.Still watch the reruns
its so piecefull there.
The SHOW had good family values... but Andy was screwing the actress portraying teacher Helen Crump while he was married to someone else. They should have nipped that one in the bud!
@@johnroy9654 His personal life is none of my concern or business. Maybe he was a christian when he passed away.I would hope he was.But not my place to judge.God is the only one that can do that....
@@rachelramsey1245 his personal life is not what I was referring to. You mentioned that the show had good family values. That is not quite accurate since he was commiting adultery during the show with a cast member. I loved the first 3 years with Don Knotts. The show got progressively worse after Don left.
peaceful.@@adamt5519
Thank you for showing the closed-captioned video and I enjoyed this very much. 🤟👍
It don’t even matter because growing up I enjoy the show 😃
There was the episode when Barney is trying to recite the Preamble. As he struggles to remember, he messes up his hair, but when the camera turns to him again, his hair is perfectly combed.
I saw that one!
I noticed that also just a few weeks ago while watching. Every time the camera would go back his hair would be straight even though it was messed up. I thought I was just seeing things. 😆 I've seen that episode many times, but that was the first time I noticed it. Glad somebody else seen it I thought I was seeing things. 😃
Yeah, that one is hilarious! That's in Opie's Ill-Gotten Gains.
It's not a blooper, but in the early days of the show you can see a cameo by Lucille Ball in some episodes. Maybe this was done because Desilu was one of the producers and it was shot on their lot. When you see Ellie's drugstore, look at the tv guide displayed near the door and you will see that it has Lucille Ball's picture on the cover.
The scene with the two men without hats and then with hats happened because they shot Opie's scene first because of Ron Howard's school schedule. In that scene you will also notice that Rance Howard, the agent on the right, is wearing a grey suit, but when Opie comes in the man is in a black suit, and it is not Rance Howard. The actor they originally shot with the scene had a stroke and couldn't come back to do the other shot, so Rance Howard stepped in.
nineteen hundred 60s lol what a weird reading
How petty! All of these are insignificant and unworthy of attention! Will always love the show ❤
We're glad to know that you love the show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. If we may ask, which episode did you like the best?
Great video. Here's a blooper. In season 1 episode 2 "the manhunt" Emma Brand lives outside of town. In season 1 episode 4 "Ellie comes to town" Emma lives in town, totally different house.
The Taylor top floor windows are always together except the night that Gomer stays overnight. When Gomer and Andy are talking to each other from the upstairs front windows there is a noticeable gap between the windows. It’s the episode entitled “Gomer the Houseguest “.
I love the Andy Griffith show omg
Good job. Lots of detail and great pinpoint arrows!
I never noticed this stuff. And I grew up watching this show
The courtroom scene the sport coats change colors
My two favorite episodes were when a stranger, with a limp, comes into town and Barney gathers a posse together! And when Gomer catches Barney making an illegal U-Turn. One more: when Barney's afraid to go into an abandoned house cause he believes it's haunted so he brings Gomer along.
Thank you for sharing your favorite episodes. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Citizens arrest episode will always be a classic, and the episode The haunted house, is also one of my favorite episodes.i honestly liked them all up until season 5 ended and Don Knotts was off the show on a regular basis just making guest appearances, imo Don Knotts stole the show!!
And you have one of your own that was a rooster not a chicken
Floyd the barber was in the movie Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
There was an episode where Goober had friend who bragged about how well he was doing as a businessman while living in Mt Pilot. Goober, Andy, and family went to visit. Goober's friend played it up big. When leaving, they stopped at a gas station for a soda. Andy noticed Goober's friend working on a car, not the successful businessman he made himself out to be. The Mistake: This shot was apparently shot at a gas station with real traffic in the background. One of the trucks that passed in the background was a COORS beer truck. Mayberry was on the east coast. The series took place in the 60's. Coor's wasn't sold east of the Mississippi until sometime in 80's/90's. Coors light please.
Good catch my friend i have seen a few also still a good show with good family values
I was the driver- I took a wrong turn on the new then San Amonica freeway - then I ended up in Vegas where me and Velma loo shagged out to the east coast
You can't take Coors east of the Mississippi...that's called bootlegging
Pretty sure it was 70s when Coors was sold in Boston ..😇
Loved the show! Still watch it whenever it’s on.
The Polaroid camera has been replaced by the cell phone camera 😎
What is a "played" shirt?
I would have sworn it was plaid.
There was one episode where Burt Mustin Played a character named Judd. Andy Taylor accidentally called him by his real name which is Bert. I can’t remember what episode it is but he probably was only in a few so it will be easy to track it down
You are not much better. At first you say " Burt ",..which is correct. The you say " Bert " which is incorrect.
@@hermanator74301 could of been just a simple typo dangggg give someone a break for crying out loud!! Ol spellchecker here!!
My favorite show, I watch it everyday!!! I record it also!!! It's such a wonderful show, it has VALUE'S, and loveliness to it!!! It calm's me down, when I get home from work!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ .. 😌😌😌.. 🌹🌹🌹....
Interesting Observations.
The one where Barney and Andy switched places isn't a mistake. It looks like they walked up after the man with the gun took off running in the woods. That's why there in different spots
The script of Barney bragging about knowing the 'Constitution' ... when his hair was messed up, the CAMERA ANGLE from in front of the cells shows his hair was neatly combed. The angles go back an forth, each time his hair was COMBED and messed up.
Ever wonder why you can't watch The Andy Griffith Show on UA-cam? Only 3-5 minute segments.
In the scene in the courthouse where Opie comes in, the men with their hats off, then on, one of those with his hat off is Ron Howard's dad. When the hats are on, if you will look close, it is not longer Ron Howard's dad as one of the men.
this was something wonderful!!!!
One of my favorites is in Divorce Mountain Style. There's a moment right after Andy moves to help Barney get up on the horse where you can see a hand reach out from the lower right corner of the screen to grab the horse's reins. 🙂 But the funniest is probably Barney's changing hair while reciting the Constitution in Opie's Ill-Gotten Gains. 😅
Thanks for watching! We're glad to know that you love our video. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
Love this show
I never noticed. But I wouldn't have cared anyway...
Some of these mistakes were quite obvious. But, there were some that could be explained. The explanation could have been completely different from what we think was a mistake.
But, either way, I grew up watching the show, and I still can enjoy it now via reruns!! 😁
Now I have to watch for this
I still love watching this show on ME TV
Well the narrator called Opie Opee and Opie BLOOPER
Season 4: A Black day for Mayberry, when Opie (Ronny Howard) comes in and the two men (the one closest to Opie who is Ronny (Ron) Howard’s real life father) are wearing gray suits. When they pan to Barney and then back to the two men they are completely different men. The new men have on black suits and one has a suit case and like you said hats. Great Job on catching all of these! I only noticed a couple of the ones you mention! Great job!!
Thanks for watching!
I loved this show
Me too
Barny and Gomer lost in the woods. Started back without the snare and got back to camp with the snare.
In some of the shows Barney messes his hair up, then from another camera angle it’s combed again.
I’m sweating too, Helen
In the episode about Jim the guitar player the actor has hairy arms, but in the close ups of him playing the guitar his arms have almost no hair.
Now, I see these, never did before lol
This video is about Andy Griffith, and he’s Griffith.
No bloopers. Just continuity and production errors. No laughs. Also, "In the nineteen hundred and sixties" ? Ok, maybe one laugh. The Andy Griffith Show was excellent.
probably because an AI voice is reading the script... at 1:20 he says Barney is wearing a simple "played" shirt - as the script reads plaid.
I live it!
Love the show. What ever to the shows called Andy of Mayberry???
I just picked up on something while watching "Andy & Opie....Bachelors" from season 3. As Peg is singing, "Down in The Valley" a Housefly can be seen on her left leg. Peg never flinches which leads me to believe she never felt it.
I can understand some continuity errors or film crew and equipment being seen but I never understood why they let errors happen like Andy’s address was different depending on the episode and cast members characters name would change..
***10 MORE CONTINUITY ERRORS FROM 1 OF MY TOP 3 SHOWS EVER (off the top of my head):
1. In the 2nd episode, Barney is Andy’s cousin, later that very same opening season they were lifelong friends.
2. The actress who first played Hilda May later comes back as the wife in “Barney Fife Realtor,” then comes back in one of the colored episodes.
3. Ruth, who we meet in the opening scene from episode 1 is also in “Those Gossiping Men” (also season 1) as a friend of Aunt Bea’s.
4. Goober is talked about by Gomer as having lived elsewhere, and in Goober’s first appearance in one of the Fun Girls episodes, none of the main characters had met him…then in “A Case of the Punch in the Nose,” we find Goober had lived in Mayberry since he was a child.
5. Emmett is introduced in seasons 7 & 8, and everyone had known him all along.
6. Charlene Darling appears as a totally different character in one of final 5 episodes of the show.
7. The second man to play Ben Weaver in “The Shoplifter” (with the old lady who “clanks”) shows up in “Howard the Comedian” as an extra from out of town who’d seen Howard on TV and asks Andy for his “unlisted number” and asks Goober if he can teach him to drive with his feet.
8. Andy’s thick southern accent disappears by season 3.
9. No one, including Andy, had ever met Howard Sprague. Fast forward to “Howard the Comedian” and Floyd says he’s been cutting his hair since he was a child.
10. A 3rd actor plays Ben Weaver when Goober works in his store briefly during the episode when Flora from the diner appears like she’s going to take Goober’s job at the filling station ⛽️
There are MANY more, but this is a good starter list. I watch the show every time I visit with my mom. She DVR’s it on TVLand and Sundance (which have different scenes). Great video
The scene where the two men are sitting there waiting for Andy, the guy on the right is Ron Howards dad.
WOW! I never noticed any of this stuff.
Great show!
during the dual andy hands them back wrong shot guns....one guy notices
In the Mountain Wedding episode, the shot that they show when Earnest T has the gun, the house is behind them, then Earnest T runs off, then all 3 of them turn around, then the trees are behind them. That’s because they turned around. So, if they turned around, then they are standing in the same place, just turned around. So, you messed up on this, UA-cam video guy.
I noticed that too!
I never noticed it before and I no this show in side out
I never noticed these misteaks...DOH!
People being sweaty in north carolina in the 1960s when people probably didn't have AC commonly doesn't seem like a mistake at all.
Why is it titled bloopers? There are no bloopers? Boo on this video. I saw all these mistakes plus many others while watching the show.
Quite true.
Deodorant hadn't been invented yet and hadn't made its way to North Carolina until somtime in the 2000's
There's an episode where barney is wearing a tin soldier type hat with a chin strap. He gives someone a tour of the jail and when they come back out of the back room the chin strap is off.
Looks like Andy Griffith and Don Knotts really got to know Ronnie Howard and even treated him like their own son respectively when the camera was not rolling.
Ronny not Ronnie.
@@hermanator74301 I took a gamble... I lost!
THESE AREN'T BLOOPERS. BLOOPERS ARE WHEN THE CAST MAKES MISTAKES. THESE ARE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS
To bad they don’t show bloopers, them breaking up on camera such as when Don Knotts is speaking to Howard McNear to nip it
In Mayberry RFD Goober runs around the corner from sheriff's office and sees Emmett and calls him Andy.season 1 episode 26
In the episode where Barney is dressed in black and going to ride a horse to scare off the Darlins you can see someone’s hand reach in the shot and grab the horses reins.
IN THE EPISODE OF ANDY AND THE GENTLEMAN CROOK THERE ARE 3 OR 4 SCENES WHERE BARNEY GOES FROM WEARING A BADGE IN ONE SCENE THEN IN THE NEXT SCENE NOT WEARING ONE!! THIS CHANGE HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN JUST A MATTER OF MINUTES!!!!
Rafe Hollister sings, when Andy gives him a new suit he says " hell that's me" strong language for the time.
Are you sure he didn't say, " why, that's me!"?
Love this show to this day!
I found a blooper tonight, on "Those Gossiping men". Think it was Season 1 ep 15 Aunt B, comes into the courthouse to confront Andy on the men's gossip, as she enters and shuts the door, she didn't make it, and you can see a stage hand, hand carefully closing the door!
I watch a show every morning and night, it keeps me grounded!
Note also , the two gentlemen, waiting in the courthouse that suddenly I’m wearing hats I noticed the coat colour has changed to dark colour
In an episode Opey eats some apples and crawls into the back of a truck with the gate of the truck down but when the truck drives down the road the gate is up
Actually on season 4 A BLACK DAY FOR MAYBERRY the real blooper is not the 2 gentlemen are wearing there hats but it is 2 completely different gentlemen in the chair all together. One of the original men was actually Opies father but could only shoot so many shots a week that is why they used 2 different men all together and he is right they are also wearing there hats but the real blooper is the men are not the same men at all that are sitting down in the courthouse lol
I saw one my once when Barney was wearing his badge when putting someone in jail the when he turned around his badge was gone
A lot of things they didn’t have to worry about because it wasn’t seen that good with black and white.
The episode when Barney makes Otis, Judd and Goober Deputies. Barney throws a tomato at Otis. They used two different shirts on Otis and the tomato stains are very much different from shirt to shirt.
My all time favorite episodes are 3 wishes for opie, and mr.mcbeeve.
I know a few characters played multiple roles, but clara johnson magically changed to clara edwards and howard sprauge was a insurance man named ed just a few episodes before he became a main character
Our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
@@FactsVerse I like these kind of videos tbh. Maybe one about family matters, or the golden girls.
In Dogs Dogs Dogs barney comes in the courthouse and is missing his badge. Look for it!
In "Quiet Sam", how did Barney get to Sam's since Andy took the squad car?
Two words " who cares"😊 ..Still a great show😀
We're glad to know that you love the show. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. If we may ask, which episode did you like the best?
In "Andy & Helen Have Their Day", when Opie came down the stairs and asked "Is paw really getting married?", doesn't he know why he came down the stairs wearing a suit?
What is a “played” shirt?
I think the reason it is they will probably taking a break from filming when they came back to resume the shot had forgotten that he had had changed shirts
Still waiting for bloopers
I see these more as bad sloppy continuity issues than bloopers. I have been looking for real blooper scenes from the actors. I would love to see Andy, Don Knott's and the other actors breaking up during filming scenes. These episodes were shot in film. They must exist somewhere. Looking forward to those.
I found a mistake..not sure the episode but Andy gave Barney a bullet. It had a flat head(wadcutter..used for target shooting.)In the next scene Barney is holding a round headed bullet..standard
.38 round.👮
A pretty substantial continuity error on "Andy Griffith and the Gentleman Crook, toward the last when Aunt Bee was spruced up and left to take Dan his supper, leaving Andy and Opie (Opie was in pajamas and Andy told him to go to bed- cut to next scene where Aunt Bee and Opie (dressed in jeans and shirt) are entering the jail with Dan's supper.
It's PLAID shirt, not PLAYED.
These are Tv show productions anomalies that were never seen for decades. The production company knew this, but they were also aware that viewers at home would never catch them while watching on NTSC 525i TVs. It was only after decades of repeated views, on high resolution screens, and podcasts which highlighted minor errors, that these were apparent.
Lots of different beginnings and endings
I am not sure if I saw correctly but on an episode in Sherriffs Office/ jail it looked like a map of. Idaho behind them and an upside-down map of Nevada. Recently aired on ME-TV.
Interesting, thank you so much for sharing this info. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Everyone loves a gatekeeper. Right?
funny I'm watching the one where barney is trying to gain weight for the civil service cigs in shirt pocket.
Thanks for watching!
Great video and great show but you missed the biggest blooper in Black day for Mayberry When Barney is in the truck, Gomer pours gas in the truck and Barney pants are wet and it’s on the floor The next time they show Barney his pants are dry and the gas is gone
Dont need the naration
"O-pee" not "O.P." That is a mistake here!
Did anyone ever notice whem Gomer put gas in the $ 7 million truck the hole was oval with the cover pushed in, then on the inside no cover an the hole is round?
Thanks for watching!
I think I know what happened here they probably had to do a retake over and over again and they forgot which side they were supposed to be on finally got the shot right
Two scenes are filmed in reverse. In one episode Andy is talking to Opie, who's in bed. Andy's hair is parted on the wrong side, and his shirt is buttoned right over left. Another is when Barney buys the car from Mrs. Lesh. As she's walking away, Andy's hair is parted on the wrong side again. Its so obvious, and looks strange.
I can see how “continuity errors” can happen, considering that a production crew can spend ten to twelve hours filming just one scene that will get maybe only two minutes when finally put onto the screen for the viewing audience. 😒
Mistakes? The biggest one I saw was the one with Barney and gentlemen dan… Opie‘s going to bed, The next scene Opie is in his clothes with Aunt Bee taking “Suppa”to “Gentleman Dan”-Perhaps filming out of sequence perhaps was the reason behind it
No sound
