They pointed out that Menonites can use electronics, but more fundamental sects can't.

@@gigglemeistah He said cool Beavis! ahah hah!
Not sure how true it is, but from what I've heard, it's less about electricity and technology itself, and more about not interrupting their way of life? Like using computer to do calculations is perfectly fine since it doesn't change things in any fundamental way (also, apparently they're pretty big on solar power and such, so... )
Amish and Mennonites are actually not the same .... they all belong to the Anabaptists; however, most of the Anabaptist groups would get quite insulted if anyone said that they were branches of each other.
Some different groups are the Old order Amish, New order Amish, Mennonites, German Baptists, Beachy, Beachy Amish(yes there is a difference), Schwartzendruber Amish, Charity(or so they used to be called... they changed their name), and many others.
Mennonites are the ones I am the most familiar with. Everything depends on the location of the church because rules vary by congregation. Rules can be as strict as "Dresses must be hemmed at 9 inches from the floor" (Yes that is a real rule ...... I don't know why), and "Men are not allowed to wear shirts with print of any kind". Some rules make no sense and are only accepted because they were passed down from previous generations.
All Anabaptist groups can tell each other apart by observing the slight differences in the way the women dress. Colors and designs of coverings and dress patterns vary by which group the members belong to. Even the slightest difference in detail would identify someone as a part of a different group.
Fun fact im ex amish i come from the old order amish

The magazine of a woman showing her leg killed me
So, most of my living relatives are Amish. A couple years ago I was visited by 3 of my cousins during rumspringa. I showed this video to them and they thought it was the funniest thing they have ever seen. They made me buy them a "How am I driving" bumper sticker the next day and when they went home they stuck it on my great uncles buggy. I got a letter from them a few months later. Great uncle John thought that was the funniest thing. Don't think for a second that the Amish don't have a sense of humor. Admire the amish for faithfully sticking to their beliefs. Very few of us do. Had lots of fun that week. Love you, Jacob, Isaiah and John.
I love this story. I wish you and your family well.
That’s funny as shit dude, you got a family with a sense of humour.
Ahah! Pretty funny family you got there :)
I grew up in Ohio around a bunch of Amish and I've seen buggies with neon lights inside and out and even a few that had systems installed.
Sticking to your beliefs which contradict facts is a bad thing and nothing to be proud of. That said, I don't think people who do that are necessarily bad
I’ve played this for Amish people several times. They love it. Only one disliked it, but he openly stated it was due to the “lost my mind” bit.
I feel kinda sad some people can feel "losing your mind" to be an offensive expression. Man puritanism is a hell of a thing
@Salafi-Jihadi Palestinian
Where I live is mostly farmland, small town. Down the road we have several Amish families and they come over sometimes to bring us pies and other foods in exchange for stuff like sugar and stuff we just buy from the store. I told them that a comedian made a song about them and most were open-minded about it. We’re friends I’d say. I give them rides to the store (would take hours on their buggy), they give us homemade goods and food. They pray for my parents (cancer) and my dad blows their driveway in the winter. Good relationship.
Years ago I showed them this to get their opinion on it. Simple really. Most laughed, acknowledging their own hard work and we talked about sacrifices they make for the sake of their religion. A lot of Amish people are no different than you and I, they just don’t want to use technology and their faith demands a “Spartan” (barebones) lifestyle. No frills, no fluff. Most don’t even use rubber on their wooden wheels or plows, they deem it unnecessary lol

need to petition him to play for a rumspringa break
Who you kidding ...you broke @$$
that is not possible, music, even the kind using traditional instrument that existed in the 17th century are forbidden by the amish, or in any other way do anything that can even remotely be considered to be "fun"
you mean you would pay your parents good money to see this Iive, IoI
He should have won an oscar for his reverse singing and walking. Snubbed imo
Nah Rhett and link should have because they made a whole song in reverse
Yes, that must have been so tough!
@Sir Maus The final scene where he "jumps up" from the hay was actually recorded backwards. If you look closely you'll notice it.
i would like but since it is on 666 likes i shall leave a comment saying you have my appreciation
Yes he definitely should have
I'm amazed how Coolio was able to rework this into Gangstas Paradise. The man was truly talented.
Coolio took Stevie Wonders hit song, Past Time Paradise, and changed the words.
@@zoeym4868 no, he did not. Amish Paradise was covered by both Coolio an Stevie Wonder.

Is no one gonna talk about how he's milking the cow's milk into a bowl of Corn Flakes and that he's feeding the chickens pizza 💀
LMAO A DAY AGO
YAY
Normal amish stuff
Why ?
Chickens love pizza.
Today I learned.
I worked at a bowling alley a few years ago and every weekend we would have “rock n bowl”-lights off, music, strobe lights, that kind of thing. We would always have groups of Amish people come in and play a few games and so many of them would request this song. They all loved it.
amish paradise indeed
Wow, literraly plot of King Pin tho right?
Good for u
Are you sure they were not Mennonite because there is a big difference when it comes to there choices of life style
How did they hear it?
I’ve listened to this song so much that the original feels like a parody

Did you miss the part where Al is walking and singing backwards??
I can't believe I never noticed that before
lmao i've seen this hundreds of times since it was uploaded and somehow never noticed this. I thank you greatly for this incredible realization.
No he dont
What about milking the cow into a bowl of corn flakes?
To think that Coolio actually got offended at this.
When Weird Al parodies your song, that means you've arrived.
...Coolio won a Grammy for that song, so I think you have it backwards.
@@kambokampo I absolutely don't have it backwards.
People win Grammys and are never heard from again. If Weird Al deems your song worthy of parodying, then you become legendary.
Coolio was peeved until the royalty checks started rolling in...now he’s cool with it.
Geddit? Cool-io with it...
It goes like this: Al never parodies a song w/o permission--he doesn't really need it, but he does it 'cause he's that cool (that's why he's never done a Prince song, for example, because Prince always said "No"). Al honestly thought his people talked to Coolio's people, because Al's people came to him and said Coolio's people said it was OK. Coolio didn't even know about the song until it came out, and he was a bit peeved. When Al heard, he apologized profusely, and got Coolio's blessing.
Odd, since it's Stevie Wonder's song. (Pastime Paradise)

If we shunned technology, we wouldn't have the Sonic movie.
I'm starting to see the appeal of being Amish.
Nah it'd just be a stage production instead

The scene in reverse is so sick. Love how he tried to lip sync it all in reverse so when played in reverse it was close to a perfect lip sync.
What scene?

i just noticed how cool that looks
This is HUGE! i still can't believe its possible.. mad man
He actually sang that In reverse
this is a fucking masterpiece
3 hours ago dang
I don't think they can get offended by this because they can't find out about this.
_See also: North Koreans._
ooo but they can go agaisnt there beliefs
I'll never forget going to the skating rink as a kid, and requesting this song, and every time I did, everyone had to make super sure that there were no Amish there that day.
Allegedly, lol
Wait until they do tho
The thought that Amish people will never know this song exists is kinda weird
they get a week or two in their youth to see the world for what it really is, some may have found it by now.
I live in Amish country. I play this periodically driving down the road just in case
It’s 11 years old gangsters paradise has 3years
But how did he record it if they don’t use any electric

And the smile of success which he had to do before walking backwards singing in reverse.
He's just that talented!
They probably had it played in reverse on set, so the synchronization is not that extraordinary.
