I had to come to this video because my dad was watching SNL reruns when this masterpiece rippled outside his bedroom door to where I was sitting and I couldn't help but to sing along word for word 😂 me and my brother would play this video religiously when we were younger. This song will never get old even after 13 years later
I had this on my facebook memories, me and smy sister blasted this over and again, memories are the most beautiful things
I've (obviously) never met him, but Michael Bolton seems like a legitimately nice guy to be around. The amount of parodies of his own persona he has taken part of really says something about someone of his standing.
I also love how you can tell Michael's having a good time with this.
It is well known that playing along is the greatest way to subvert parody and turning it into your own profit, politicians do it all the time.
Have you seen when he sang songs for the Honest Trailers Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory video?
If not enjoy... ua-cam.com/video/7GblgBFT1-s/v-deo.html
@@Areanyusernamesleft Thank you for that link, I had no idea!
@@slandshark, you are quite welcome. I also like how he obliquely references this video at the end. :)
It's crazy how active this comment section is even after ten years. Just shows how iconic this song is.
sometimes my brain goes "okayyyy im reloadedddd" for no reason at all
Some of us are inexorably drawn back to the good part.
Crazy how people who like music make YT comments on music videos.
Kind of an exaggeration, isn't that. I mean, give the video credit for hitting 221,277,497 views. Really downplaying it, if you ask me.

9 years later the "KEIRA KNIGHTLEY!" still gets me
Has it been 9 years already? WHAT THE FUCK
Damn still can't believe it.
Damn
Wher is Keira Knightley ?
And she still gets it... If you know what I mean
the old lonelyisland hits started appearing in my feed again, what a great time to be back here
I've always thought of him as being kind of cheesy, but one indisputable fact is Michael Bolton has a preternaturally great voice. It's otherworldly. The fact that he also has a sense of humor about himself is a delightful bonus.
Yeah. He elevated himself out of the adult contemporary morass and onto a higher musical plane with this one.
"Kind of" cheesy?!?
@@personacrossjones2284 okay, sure, very cheesy, but I can't deny that he has a sense of humor about himself and a voice to die for, the man has skills. And it's not like he's John Tesh level cheesy.
The guy was in a metal band, he is a legend!!!
I agree. He's both talented and pretty funny.
10 years later and I had an itching to hear the line "the Jester of Tortuga"
I also came back to the song for the exact same reason, it just sticks in the brain!
why?

Michael Bolton deserves a Grammy for this.

Could legit get an Emmy, a Tony, and a Grammy for this one song.

Who's still loving this banger in 2024?
Nobody says banger in 2024
@@hiredgoon83Sheamus does 😂😂
Yep - saw the Pete Davidson Lip Sync performance and discovered it. I never knew what a good sense of humor Michael Bolton has . . .
I listen at least once a day 😂
Since I Liked it in the past and have watched it several times, UA-cam recommends it to me regularly.
"Now back to the good part" Truest words said in music ever.
When you wanna do the story but the sidequest just too good 🤣
I can't tell if you came from Death, Hope and Civilization or not. Your comment just fits too well.
Lol this
This resonates
Bravo 😅😂
This cemented Michael Bolton as one of the greatest artists of all time because he showed he had a great sense of humour. Artists become so much more human and endearing when they poke fun at themselves or go outside the "norm" of what you expect from them.
Watch him in his clip from the "Larry Sanders Show" where Garry Shandling calls Bolton a fucking asshole 😂😂😂
He probably laughed his ass off at the pitch
Please explain the joke for us.
Nah when he starts dropping other movie references that's a genuine top tier moment in musical history.
"THIS IS THE TALE, OF CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW" Always gets me😂😂
It's fucking epic. 🤣

I just think it's funny that he says he wrote them a big sexy 'hook', and it's about pirates
Well played.
wow!
Didnt noticed lol ty
The song is off the hook!!
That was genious!
The “take it home” sung by one of the boys right near the end always gets me. Like one of them switched over and is team Bolton on how the song should go.
All these years of listening, and I've never heard that before! Nice!

Michael Bolton will never reach these heights in his career ever again.
Tru dat m8
Micheal Bolton already had great success back in the day and now he is just cruising off of previous success, this is only a treat for the young crowd. Non of the new singers could sound like him.
Bolton has 8 top ten albums, 9 #1 songs, is a grammy winner, and worth $60 million last I checked. He had already reached the top of the mountain.
jeez guys chill.. does anyone here know the word sarcasm?

I never in my life thought i would hear anyone let alone Michael Bolton sing so passionately the famous Scarface movie line talking about his wife when he said "her womb is polluted". Like i could have lived and died a thousand lifetimes and never thought i'd hear that. My life is now complete.
"You complete me" - Joker, The Dark Knight.
Whoever wrote the phrase “the jester of tortuga” should get a bonus.
The way Bolton delivered it, he also deserves a bonus
“Pauper of the surf 🌊” is pretty great too. 😂
What does it mean?
@@Orangeflava A jester is a paid fool in a king or queen’s court. It’s similar to the joker you see in a deck of cards. So “ the jester of Tortuga” is just a fancy way of saying “the funny guy from Tortuga”, but the phrasing is really great.
