    As an Australian, I'm just pleased that people from other countries think we have our own culture, rather than being a copy/paste of the UK - or America!

      I don’t know anyone who considers Australian culture a copy of UK or US. Everyone I know views Australia as exotic with unique wild animals and an interesting accent.

    • @Larry-jh8gf

      Who thinks that? I've never heard that before.
      I do know many Americans can't tell the difference between and Australian and UK accent though.

      @@Larry-jh8gf Obviously we have different experiences. This is life.
      It's something I have come across repeatedly while living in Asia for 4 years, and Europe for the last 10 years. It surprises me every time. it's not that they think Australia isn't its own country, just that there is basically no difference between the cultures.
      I also never said it was logical, but then, some of our own preconceived ideas about other countries may also be illogical too...

    The issue with alcohol isn't whether people drink; but why they drink? This is what differentiates countries like Russia from other cultures such as Australia, England, Germanny, Canada, USA, etc.

    In other news. I'd like to thank the snow plow workers in the Chicago suburbs for keeping the streets relatively clean from all this snow we got today. I was able to get to work and back home. I'm sipping on vodka to stay on topic, kinda.

    Making sure the dinner bill gets paid 50/50 has become a mandatory "shit test" that a Man MUST do to filter out malevolence. If a Man is paying the entire dinner bill on the first and second date then he's stupid, he's objectively an idiot based upon the current culture of dating. ALL smart Men will make sure those first 2 dates are split 50/50 for many reasons.
    Firstly it shows a smart Man that the Woman actually does like him because she's spending her own money to spend time with him. Secondly and most important is that it's insurance against being used as a "Free food date". Many evil Women will string a Man along that she's not attracted to, wasting his time, getting his hopes up, and draining his wallet, all so that she can get a free meal out of him. To avoid being used in this way smart Men will ensure that the first 2 dates are split 50/50 to filter out those Women.
    From the third date onwards, good Men will pay the entire dinner bill most often (Not every time!) to ensure that the Woman doesn't take the generosity for granted, a Man should require the bill to be split every 3-4 dates after that point.

    Australians/New Zealand pretty much the same. They speak their mind if they don't agree with anything. They love to party hard and enjoy life's offers. Men and woman are pretty much equal in decision making especially in relationships. It's a culture shock for Russians visiting Australia. You really need to visit to really understand our culture down under.

    The type of traditional family life described is something that existed in Canada back in the 50's. My mother is 85 and she has always worked. She had secretarial training and worked before she married and after she married. This wasn't necessarily true for all women of her generation; however, it is definitely true today! In fact, no woman should be so dependent on a man that she can just stay at home. Marriage or a common-law relationship don't necessarily last forever; in fact, in todays world, less than half do and in Russia, a man's lifespan isn't great!! Consequently, whether you are a man or a woman, you need to look out for yourself and not having a job is possibly not good for your financial health. Depending entirely on your marriage for your financial health is a bad idea!

      Someone's gotta be there for the babies, get the packages in, make the meals, do the wash and be on hand when the others need help. All our lives were better when someone was home to do this. I don't care who, but we need somebody.

    • @lucforand8527
      @lucforand8527 8 місяців тому +1

      @@evegreenification Really!! Rich people do this by hiring staff to do these jobs; thus rich women get to do whatever they want while poor women don't deserve the same. This is such a selfish opinion, certainly it can be good for the one receiving all these services; but what about the woman whose only worth would seem to be to provide these services. Welcome back to the dark ages where woman didn't need to know how to read, just how to take care of their home, husband and children.

    • @evegreenification
      @evegreenification 8 місяців тому

      Way to assume it's gotta be the woman who stays home, and way to assume that creating a well organized and well run home is not a valuable thing to do. Thanks heaps for being a patriarchal person who pretends to be an ally.@@lucforand8527

    If you watch "Sunday to far away" that's Australia that was, good hearted,hardworking hard drinking, pack a day habit, "knock about's" fight at a drop of a hat, give you the shirt of their back but they are now dead because of the influx of different cultures and the influence they've had, today it is a different country.

    Interesting discussion. If Australian males work so many hours, where do they find time for their heavy drinking sessions!
    Found the speaking the truth bit very interesting considering the russian government and media have no need of the truth! Suspect Russians are cool to strangers as there may be a trust issue - might be a gov spy! Shocking story about your stepfather and the poor salaries, keeping people in poverty. Dari and Harry: Great interaction, great interview. It was so wonderful to hear you both speak about your individual countries: Learning something new about some of the differences as well as the similarities. Let's just say that, the US is a melting pot of all of thee above! Dari, well done again. Interesting that so many other R vloggers say that it is just a US myth that we think all Russians do is sit around and drink Vodka! I think you just clarified that for us! 😁😁. Russian's speaking the Truth? I will believe that up until the topic changes to "Politics" (Of course, that is here and everywhere else too)! 😃😃 I was curious, when you decide on your Country destination, If not Russia, will mom and step-dad be eager to come stay/move in with you?
