So funny that spiders (and other dangerous animals) are the first and sometimes only thought for Russians when asked about Australia. As an Australian who lives in a bushy suburb and enjoys camping and outdoors, I have never been bitten by a venomous snake or spider 😊 Thanks for the interesting video Daniil.
I'm Australian and I was worried this might go horribly wrong but was happily surprised with the answers. Please feel free to visit us, there are more than enough spiders to go around 🤣
I really want to move to Australia, but the only thing that keeps me going is that I heard there are a lot of poisonous snakes, spiders, insects in Australia, is that true?
Retta I've lived in Adelaide South Australia for 40 years and in that time I've only seen maybe half a dozen snakes mostly in the countryside. Some are deadly but if you stand still they will go away. Living in the country you will see more snakes. Places in the tropics like Brisbane you will probably see more.
I'm so sorry about the current 'situation'. I've met a few people of Russian background (either from Russia or ethnically Russian from countries like Kazakhstan) and really enjoyed spending time with them. I just wish so many people didn't get their ideas about other people from what the idiot box (TV/internet) tells them. People are complex, no matter where they hail from.
Im quite impressed that they knew bits and pieces about us. 🇦🇺 The guy talking about not climbing Ulura (the huge rock) and people being cursed for stealing a piece of it and mailing it back is apparently true. The Alice Springs mail centre gets hundreds of bits of rock returned with apology letters each year. We do have some deadly snakes and spiders yet I live in suburban Melbourne and only see huntsman, whitetails, red backs and golden orbs semi regularly. The orbs are my favourite as their webs are spectacular.🕸️🕷️
I'm Australian, Russians don't seem to have the same negative attitude they have for Americans. Australia & Russia countries do share some commonalities - large land mass with vast uninhabited space of nothing but minerals & resources. I caught a nasty spider in my home yesterday but they are not as big of a problem as people think. Kangaroos are tuff buggers.
Beautiful country, absolutely huge, very varied climate, terrain, and nature - from tropical rainforests to deserts and snow-capped mountains. I visited QLD and NSW many years ago and will be there again this summer. It would take months to see everything Australia has to offer.
distance have nothing to do were you live only your care how you want to live is important and knowledge were you life how earth look and what going on around Russia have good math physic in school but talk about culture different country is very low level they don't want that people will know this people in power want selves that why we see them in ukrain because of this
As an Aussie living in Russia, it's true that many Russian people don't know us that well except those Aussie icons. The most common answers I got from them were kangaroos, Sydney and too far from them. When I told my late Russian father-in-law the story about Matildas and Anzac Day which fascinated him before his sudden passing.
Why would you want to live in a country that invades it's neighbours, that butchers their people, rapes their women , ,urders there kids and wipes out whole towns?
As an Australian I am proud of the responses as well, The amount of Americans who think Sydney is the capital we live in Europe and we don't speak English is shocking 😅 Had one American online in a game actually say to me where did I learn to speak Amercian 😅🤦🏻 Now we need a reverse video to see what Australians know about our Russian comrades Vodka. 😅 You hear the word vodka we all think Russia. Don't fuck with the Russian bears apparently. Im born in Australia & i would like to say that after watching this video i realise that Russians are very intelligent and respectful people . Well educated
This is going down as one of my favourites. But I guess I know more about Russia than they know about us. We have another big city, Melbourne (the world's most liveable city for seven years in a row, from 2011 to 2017), which is now larger than Sydney. We have a huge amount of dangerous spiders, snakes, jellyfish and the blue ringed octopus. It is the most dangerous and beautiful place in the world to live and has freedom and stable government. Some of the answers were very interesting . Thank Danil. I really enjoy your videos.
I think everyone needs to calm down about how dangerous Oz is. Spiders, you never see them and even if you do they just sit there. Snakes, ours are venomous but not that dangerous. They have small rear fangs with external venom not the big front fangs like hypodermic needles that they have in Africa, Asia and the Americas. Blue ringed octopus - hardly dangerous at all. My kids handle them at the beach and photograph them. Apart from crocodiles we have very safe animals. Other places have much worse. But like anywhere, the most dangerous thing by far is humans and we are lucky to have a relatively free society with a functioning police force and social security mechanisms. Sure it's not perfect but relative to the rest of the world we are very very fortunate. So.....Australia is not dangerous at all compared to most places. The worst animal is a green ant ruining a picnic biting you on the arse.
Don't forget crocodiles! I think one of them actually ate an American tourist some years ago. I don't believe any tourists have actually dies from any of our other terrors, although I may be wrong.
@@newbris It's dangerous because it's not the animals you'd expect to be dangerous. People in the rest of the world are simply not used to the dangers Australia posesses. Even for Aussie it can come with a surprise.
Well done Russians, that gave me a few smiles as an Aussie ! Pretty decent too on the responses 😁🤘🇦🇺 Spiders and roos are our mates ...mostly lol Cheers !
I am Australian with Russian ancestors. I have a soft spot for Russians. I hope more Russians could come and live here. I also hope to one day be welcome to see Russia and its peoples. I hate the discrimination Russians are receiving here in Australia we can't even fly Russian flags .....since the war. God bless you and its cool to see your answers. They should do a reverse and see what Australians know about Russia.
Times are far easier than the past. Ethnic Russians around the world are not being deported or sent to concentration camps. Russian nationals still receive various student and work visas in most countries. Many countries accept Russian tourists too. The Soviets forced relocation of ethnic Germans, ethnic Koreans, and Crimean Tatars to Siberia/Central Asia. But no country is taking that approach with Russians. In fact, Russians can fly to and come back from Russia. The only hassle is that direct flights are cancelled with most countries.
@@yo2trader539 I was just thinking that myself At least we are not in a point of history still where in ww2 Most Japanese Americans were impissioned off the bat the moment the war broke out As for the war itself I won't get political I can point fingers at everyone Israel palatine Ukraine Russia 😅, but wars have always been ugly with the Gray areas. No doute you'll get the odd bit of hate but for the most part Australians are altho racist as we are are humble people who love everyone, We have up the road from mine this lovely old lady who moved from Russia 10 years ago and she is a proud Russian woman who as everyone is entitled to do. Since then I installed a camera at the front for her for security and once a week I pop over and grab some of her awesome fucking cookies and she tells me a little bit about Russia and honestly once everything settles down over there I am booking a trip to St Petersburgs 🤤
I saw a few mentions of the Sydney Opera House, but for some reason nobody commented in it's recent blue and yellow color scheme. I am truly disappointed that someone said Australia never had wars. It's a shame that many, not only Russians, don't realize that Aussies were very involved in both world wars, and WWII was an existential threat to them.
Not to mention the wars between NSW and Victoria! What they mean is being attacked/occupied or a civil war. Australia took willingly part in WWI and WWII, it didn't 'have' to. They know absolutely nothing about the Japanese air bombings of Darwin. I agree that many are not aware enough of the rol of Australians in both WW's. People here in Europe are quite surprised that Australia is involved with Ukraine for instance. They just never expected that.
@@telebubba5527 Here's why I think it's the case. At least here in the US, history books make note of "British" participation in the Pacific, and lump all the colonies- even ones that were mostly self-governing like AUS, Canada, NZ, etc - under that one banner. There's a similar omission of Filipinos, they tend to get lumped in with "Americans." Re: Ukraine, Australia is a lot more important than many people may realize or expect. In 2019, the Aussies broke ground on two 155mm shell factories. They started production in September. That, and Ukraine seems to really like their Bushmasters. They keep asking for more!
@@telebubba5527 yes, Australia has made an outstanding (proportionally) contribution in many occasions (we've always sent significantly to Europe), however we have a very complex record on war, including our own 'frontier' wars, all the way to our transition from a British pawn to our own decision, then to an American one, and then our own again maybe Britain just has a history of treating us poorly
as I know Australia is a beautiful country (stunning nature and especially beaches) with wonderful, funny and very kind people. Australian English sounds amazing (to me it's the best of the English accents). I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much many Russians know about Australia. It is definitely more than most Americans would know. Its great that so many of these people know about Sydney. Knowing that it is not the Capital is surprising too. Of course kangaroos, spiders and other creepy crawlies get a mention. It seems that the Russian education system is quite good, at leastbwhen it comes to Geography. Well done. ☮️❤️🦘🇦🇺 from Sydney.
I didn't know we had interesting mountains. However, our tallest mountain is named Mount Kosciuszko. It was named after a general who tried to defend his country against the Russians (and Prussians). Also the Ugg brand internationally is American not Australian. The Deckers company stole our word, trademarked it, pretended to be Australian and put local Australian ugg makers out of business.
As a Aussie we are more than kangaroos, spiders and Sydney. We have awesome beaches all around Australia in each state, we have beautiful scenery in all different states. We are friendly people, we love to party , we have big open spaces to travel and camp. We have great sporting events, our seasons are beautiful , our wildflower seasons are amazing in Western Australia, people travel from overseas to see them. Great answers. I loved that the guy knew about the prohibition on climbing Uluru, even down to people returning rocks taken from there. The video may have triggered the odd Melbournian. It's ok that some that were questioned acknowledged they knew little about Australia. Australia has never had the cultural projection of other, bigger and older nations. Also most Australian's wouldnt know that much about Russia beyond a few points, factoids, and cities. Russia has a small diaspora in Australia, there are a few Russian Orthodox churches. Beyond such things, neither country has a lot to do with each other due to geographical reality.
Love it! So funny how often spiders are mentioned. In 50 years I haven't been bitten once. The biggest spider (huntsman) rarely bites. I've seen plenty of people pick them up and take them outside without getting bitten. Even if it does bite, it doesn't make you sick, it just hurts a bit (from what I've heard). All the other spiders can be, in almost all cases, avoided indoors by keeping your place clean. I've heard people from other countries talk about all our scary spiders too, but it seems overstated to me. Reminds me a conversation I had with a mate at work who grew up in Ghana. I said I was to scared to go to Africa because of all the lions. He said, What? I saw a lion for the first time when I visited a zoo in Australia! Hahaha!
Oooh, I love Australia! This is the most unique continent on our planet. My uncle lives there. I have read a lot about the history and nature of Australia, and I dream of going there. In Russia and Ukraine, many people are afraid of Australia because of huge spiders and snakes, and they have mostly seen Sydney. You know, we have in Russia/Ukraine talks a lot about Australia, as it is unique. We have been told about the unique nature since school, and many programs that are filmed about Australia speak very positively about this country. Many of us are very interested in Australia.. And yes, the main attraction of Australia for me is the Great Barrier Reef, I'm surprised that not many people are interested in it... My dream is to go to Melbourne and Brisbane, including. For me, Australians are nice, cool people who like to hang out and are always at ease. I like Australian cities, they are very beautiful, I would like to live there, feel their interesting atmosphere. Yes, as an allergic person, I'm afraid of the nature of Australia, but we have in the south of Russia/Ukraine also has all sorts of creepy creatures, so it's not a problem. The fact that so many knew Sydney was not the Capital and someone even knew that Canberra is the Capital, … 👏 👏 👏. Income levels in Australia are higher than in Japan. The Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne in January is well known. It may not be well known, but Wayne Gardner used to race motorbikes for Moriwaki in Japan. Mick Doohan was an absolute champion in the 500cc class of the road racing world championship, winning the title five years in a row. Gardner also won the title once - both were with Rothmans Honda. Beautiful beaches, World Heritage Sites such as Ayers Rock, Great Barrier Reef and Tasmania and cute native animals such as kangaroos, koalas as well as wallabies, wallaroos and quokkas Charming cities such as the Gold Coast and Perth, seafood, Aussie beef-based cuisine and activities such as scuba diving, Aboriginal culture Australia is a country that can be enjoyed by the whole family. I love Australia.🇦🇺 At the World Cup in Qatar, both countries' national teams made it to the final tournament.🫶
I lived in Tokyo for 7 years, and while it’s true our income levels are higher, so is the cost of almost everything else. My monthly rent in Tokyo was cheaper than my weekly rent in Sydney, and my Tokyo apartment was in a much better location and condition. For a long time I felt like I had more money to spend on enjoyment in Japan than Australia once all my bills were paid.
@S Hey, so you mind sharing your source for this? I tried looking it up, but couldn’t really find a reputable source. I looked up one that shared similar data to what you’ve posted, but when I read how they calculated this, all they used was net income data and did not take into consideration cost of living factors. Not saying this isn’t accurate, but it’s interesting as it is quite surprising to me, so I would like to know more, so long as it’s from a source that also factors in cost of living.
Yay you are talking about us! Please tell everyone that we don't really have that many dangerous spiders and we don't have kangaroos hopping around everywhere. 😆

So yeah, the stereotypes do apply, quite often. Oh, and a pet possum who sleeps in the dirty clothes basket, as well as the diamond python who lives in the roof.

@seanlander9321 wow that is pretty good. I live in a rural area about 90kms from Melbourne and as we are near the beach we maybe see 1 kangaroo a year across our land and mainly water birds. Spiders are friendly, furry, cute, my 12 y.o. daughter had a pet red back for 3 years (Terrence), we had a bird eating spider the size of a dinner plate in our yard (no exaggeration), her web was ~5m and VERY strong.
Of all the spiders, to choose a redback, lmao. Not only very poisonous, but also, not a hair on them! Agree that most spiders are truly friendly and considerate though. It's so sweet to see them really thinking about how best not to offend the humans that they share the world with, even politely freezing until they think it's safe to discretely move away without drawing attention. Also, other than Sydney funnelwebs, they're unbelievably good at not moving into seemingly perfect habitats like boots and gloves (and it's not the funnelwebs' fault that Sydney has a housing crisis).

Melbourne resident. Thanks for the light hearted video. And yes the spiders and snakes that we have are bastards. And as for kangaroos, they're big bastards that can tear your face off and, tear out your insides. The never-ending gag to the rest of the world that Australia is that country where all the fauna and flora can kill you. 😂 P.S: Billabong is wonderful. So is Rip Curl.
As an Australian I always had an impression that even though Russia as a state dislikes most western countries they probably for some reason have respect for Australians because of our hardiness, adaptability, and good measure for life. When it comes to the landscape and climate of both Russia and Australia our two countries are almost polar opposites. Besides the war going on at the moment, Australian's have always had great respect for Russians as they are tough independent people.
Russians love western civilization. Throughout their literature and pop culture there are endless testaments to this. They freely use Einstein as an exemplar of genius and in the incredible film 'Stalker' a character who could just say the word "naturally" in Russian instead uses the German "naturlich". Russians have long been very refined and worldly people with a lot of anthropological interest in others.
Very good. I run a vineyard here in Australia and see kangaroos and big spiders every day. The occasional koala and echidna to. But we don't have bears and wolfs that will hunt you down and chew you up for food like you guys do. I can easily get away from a deadly redback spider. I don't think I could out run a bear that wants to eat me. Lot's of good Russians here to. ❤
The good news is that bears try to avoid us people as much as we do. Most Russians have never seen a bear outside of a zoo. I have only seen them twice from apart. But having summer on Christmas might hurt, I afraid. And winter without snow😂
@@ayrat7410 If you're so inclined, Christmas is the time for water sports. And we have snow in a couple of places in winter - enough for a bit of skiing. G'day. Spiders are great at hiding so you have to go looking in woodpiles or under refuse to find them so they don't usually bother anyone. Kangaroos like hanging out on golf courses so they're interesting obstacles and occasionally they'll hop up and down streets. Marsupials are important when it comes to our wildlife. We have more mountains than Urulu, we even have skiing. There are plenty of deserts but we have tropical jungles, temperate, Mediterranean climates, miles of empty beaches and open spaces so you can travel for days without seeing another person up North. Canberra is the capital because Sydney and Melbourne fought over it then both lost (trick questions get remembered). Melbourne is usually voted as the best city in the world to live in but other Australian cities aren't far behind. Tasmania is the place to go to escape climate change extremes such as flooding and bushfires. Australia is either the largest island or the smallest continent, take your pick. Sports are big here whether it's cricket, AFL, basketball, soccer, or rugby. Emus can take several bullets and keep going but they're not usually on the menu like kangaroos. The emu and kangaroo cannot move backwards so they're on our coat of arms for that reason. ACDC started out as a Perth pub band and the highway to hell is Canning Hwy (true). Australia has had some of the best rock bands in the world up until they started going straight to television with all those stupid insta-fame competitions. It's a great place to live with all the freedoms that far outweigh a few sharks, snakes and spiders.

If a russian lists more negatives about any western progressive country - tell-tail sign he supports Medveputin😝

@@telebubba5527 Here's why I think it's the case.
Do they have an ability to turn you into a spiderman?
Russians are well informed
Highly educated.
All the best from Sydney
If you'd ask us if we know some Russian brands the answer would be: Kalashnikov, Mig, T34, T55, T90 and so on. Oh, and Iskander and Tochka. Russian is famous for these brands.
Lada would have been my first thought
@@Dick070579 Good. Lada is actually FIAT. Russian brand but not Russian invention
Surprising that no one mentioned the elusive, mischievous, but highly lethal.......dropbears.
thanks for this i’ve always wondered what Russians think about australia since were so politically close with the US
I think it's a nice place, a bit overpriced but ok. We don't travel to Australia much, because after that will never gonna financially recover. Politics? Have no idea, I only seen some destroyed Australian armored vehicles... what do you call them... Bushmaster, yeah right. With a kangaroo symbol on the side. I'm like, yeeeah okay whatever. On UA-cam I'm subscribed to the channel called " Russia Guy" about Australians living in Siberia. Quite curious content.
Very clever I loved hearing this 😊
As an Aussie, I feel like we're so different culturally and politically that we might as well be living on different planets. Our prime minister recently attended the gay and lesbian mardi gras and walked in the pride march, which just about sums it up.

Yes ,
a great attempt and knew much more than many other countries I think as I understand Russian Education is very good 👍 well done .
P.S: Billabong is wonderful. So is Rip Curl.
We know about Melbourne >>Sidney. These were wrong people. I ashamed of my Russian compatriots 😢

Your channel does a lot of good because it shows Russian people as normal like everywhere else. Propaganda tries to make people look like monsters.
Yeah. We also have flesh and bones, can you imagine that?
the dude saying, our head of state is the king was BANG ON... he knows a truth many ozzy forget.. we are not free
"our hardiness" when whinging is the national sport
Russians love western civilization. Throughout their literature and pop culture there are endless testaments to this. They freely use Einstein as an exemplar of genius and in the incredible film 'Stalker' a character who could just say the word "naturally" in Russian instead uses the German "naturlich". Russians have long been very refined and worldly people with a lot of anthropological interest in others.
Lol while watching this in the western part of Sydney I can look over to the park where the kangaroos are feeding. So yup, nailed it.
After all, the further south you go, the closer you get to the South Pole. It's best to think of Australia as a continent rather than a big island, with all the variation that brings. For instance, while there is plenty of dry country, there are rainforests too.
@@ayrat7410 some people do Chr5istmas in July, just to experience a cold "Christmas". I grew up in Europe so I've had both. They are different, but one is not better than the other. Where ever you are at Christmas, you always miss the other!
they are. ♥ but same still think that this country is bad tray to change AU talkig about russian leader he is good man
I am really impressed how knowledgeable they are on Australia 👍
Its thanks to utubers that I realised there was so much more to Russia then snow and wars lol...so its fair they arent aware of the beauty Australia is 😊
Sadly I'm aware 😭 Kind of jealous.
Russia could be a wealthy country if not for the kleptocratic authoritarian regime that is not just robbing them blind but sending their youth into senseless wars.
@@ilaser4064 wow your message only just now appeared .....thats spinnie
Thanks, it was interesting to read. Australia is an incredibly beautiful country with lovely cities and kind people. I'd like to visit there one day.
Hey, that was a pretty good summary!
I would love to live in Australia. It has the expanse of the US with far far smaller population, developed democracy and economy, all the nature, and most importantly civil rights. All the freedoms you want minus the gun nuts!
I’m summer Northern suburbs of Sydney at night… funnel web male spiders on the prowl. Check your gumboots and shoes!!!
There is also a myth not a myth.. that kangaroos like to fight
Well done everyone and hello from Sydney
Wow as an Australian im very impressed with general knowledge of Australia, much better than generic ones from other countries, dont worry about spiders, worry about snakes, don't consider Sydney, come to Melbourne.
Yeah skip over Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane and it's coasts (Sunnie and Goldie) is so much better (oops i let the secret out)
Melbourne? I rather live in Moscow under Puntin.
@@carlmorton657 Well I don't like Melbourne but given a choice between Melbourne and Moscow, i'd take Melbourne without hesitation, Moscow even without Putin seems horrible to me but with Putler in control, no way, you can have that all to yourself
Oh yes, we wake up every morning to jump with the kangaroos.
After a cuddly night with a koala. 🐨 😚
@@telebubba5527 I have a talking koala called Kevin.
Farther downunder here in Aotearoa New Zealand we have a multicultural society somewhat similar to Australia's (Oz) but here we have no snakes, no big spiders and a lot of birdlife. The Oz flag is similar to ours but theirs has six white stars and ours has four red stars representing the Southern Cross or Crux constellation and our Kiwi flag is a little older than theirs.
Here in Auckland, we have many Russian immigrants and I commonly hear Russian being spoken when I catch the bus. I have a lovely Russian family who live on my floor and another Russian lady who lives two floors down from me. I live in the suburb of Albany and ten minutes walk away from my apartment there is a Russian supermarket called Gastronomy which I love to visit to hear the Russian tongue being spoken (it is always full of you noisy, vivacious Russians) and to see and try all of the Russian delicacies they import including real _poupées russes_ , painted russian dolls, and myriad Russian sweets, salamis and other _délices_ from your Motherland. 🙏🏽👍🏽💙

The Austria/Australia sign is so funny. No prizes for guessing who that's for.
I’d blow their minds to tell them Kangaroos nibble on the lawn across from my house and Emus roam the paddocks nearby. Sydney will have a bigger ego after this video
Australians did declare a "war" against emus (birds) and they lost (gave up). That is the funniest fact about this country and I hope we will see a movie adaptation of that. Greetings from Germany
And Japan, who threatened invasion. And N.Vietnam, amongst the many other wars they've taken part in. Most recently 4 VCs in Afghanistan, IIRC.
Nope, that was a newspaper beat up after testing Vickers machine guns on flocks of emus. The only time Australia has declared war is against Japan.
@@seanlander9321 Your forgetting the wars between NSW and Victoria....
@@telebubba5527 Are yes, silly me. Which side were the Vandemonians on?
@@seanlander9321 Vanndemonians were former convict on Van Diemansland who were able to make it to Victoria, where most of them just melded into the population.
