An overview of my Spitfire build and FPV conversion followed by some footage of flying in the mountains and fog surfing. It's so much fun to fly with the feeling of being in the cockpit, especially with the head tracker! Apologies for the poor audio quality, I had an issue with mic and background noise.
Build: 0:00

Thank you for watching the FPV build of my Dynam V3 Spitfire - tiny.cc/Dynam-Spitfire-v3 🙌🏻 Full kit list and links are in the video description ✅ Please remember to hit like or dislike before you leave 👍🏻
I remember your 1st post ,,,Adam you have come a long way & in My Opinion ....ONE OF THE BEST ... Flew the sky Hunter after 2 yrs ... what a Joy ...Again ......ALL THANKS TO YOU
Thank you so much. You’ve been a great support throughout and it means a lot thank you 🙏🏻
You sir are the most informative, clever man with R C …….👏
Thank you for the great compliment. There are plenty of other cleverer people out there in RC but I appreciate your comment. Cheers 😊
I get it, it’s like flying a spitfire. Nice.
That's the idea. Well I'm sure it's far from flying the real thing but it's still a fun experience. Cheers
Good idea putting that tape on the LiPo so you can pull it out from the model 👍✈️
It was to stop me being tempted to pull it out by the cable 😅 cheers
This is literally gunna be my next build, looking forward to it 👍
Good luck with it. It’s a fun plane! 🤘🏻
adam fpv is back huraaaaa
Haha thanks for watching
Jeez, that was a lucky save, what if it had been just out of LOS..?
I can't believe you thought those silly magnets would hold that heavy HD camera etc...Anyway, the footage is great. This is like Groundhog Day with Rupes long range Spitfire...🤔🤔😀😀😳🇬🇧
If it had been beyond LOS it would have been a gonner for sure. I don't know why I thought the standard magnet would hold it, maybe I just didn't think about it much. Lesson learnt without a big loss, phew! Yeah it is very similar to Ruperts builds as it's the same frame. I think he made more effort to reinforce it, and my focus was more on making sure no RC parts were on show :D I love his vids on the Spitfire!
@@AdamGdoesFPV Agreed, his footage in those fluffy white clouds are kind of surreal....Just waiting for the weather now...🤔😳😀🇬🇧
Nice fpv Spitfire flight!👍👍
Thanks 😊 👍🏻
First!... i know this will be another good one 😎
😁
Really nice build, you flew from one of the spots I go to fly in that road. I'll need more advice from you about the live video equipment, I think I need that antenna for the video transmitter, and I might have to buy a good receiver antenna as well + using 2.4 Ghz in my radio instead of 800 Mhz to avoid interference. That's the only thing keeping me from flying far from me. I get very bad video.
That spot is one of our main flying sites these days. Nice and quiet with a good bit of space.
So in your video I see you used the Matek antennas, I've never used them and not sure anyone has had good results with them. I'd highly recommend TrueRC or VAS antennas on both ends. I use TrueRC singularity on al my planes, and mostly the side feed so you can bury it in the wing. With a singularity on the Rx (RMRC or Partom rx) you should have a clear picture to at least 5km, and in most cases even further. I never found 2.4 control to work well with 1.3 video. 868 or 433 control work perfectly with 1.3 video. With these it's good to get a little separation on the ground between the tx and your vrx and you should be all good 👌🏻
@@AdamGdoesFPV Thank you so much, I'll get the antennas to fly together soon.
Seriously cool 🇬🇧
Thanks 🙌🏻 😎
Nicely done. Cheers!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great shots
Thanks 😎
Love that build! Just my cup of tee. Nice flying and bravo on the recovery without GPS. Not many guys could do that!
Thanks Stuwe, it’s a fun little plane 😎I’m lucky it was in LOS when the canopy came off or it would have just flown off into the distance without me knowing 😱 it flew like crap with the canopy off as CG was well off and airflow would have been bad too. Cheers 👍🏻
@@AdamGdoesFPV Yeah it happened to me once that a canopy with a cam came off during flight.. scary! Since then super lock on that canopy. looks like we both learned from that experience :) nice flight with that Spitfire!!
Good airframe to cover some distance quick. I may get something similar. ( fx61 and nano talon atm ). Cool video. All the best !!!
It's not the easiest build but if you like the spitfire its worth it. Very fun to fly! Cheers
Good that you landed it safely and recovered the canopy.
Just epic mate!. Wish i lived in a nice location like this
Cheers mate, yeah me too, if it had been further away it’s have just flown off into the distance without me knowing 😳
SUPURB!!!!!
I take it your in the UK. Accent plus ROUGH LANDING N TAKE OFF SIGHTS. Hahaaha every other country Italy Germany USA ect ect ect have decent runways purpose built were still taking off from grass. Not much has changed since ww11.
I'm In the same boat WHEELS OFF BELLY LANDINGS.
You've done a brilliant job... I'm still trying to get a 1000mm or a 800mm
Spit great shots
Brian
London
Thanks Brian 🤘🏻 I’m from the UK but don’t live there anymore, I’m in Ireland which has some very similar looking countryside. Anywhere there are runways for rc planes it’s old school flying clubs that don’t like FPV 🤷🏻♂️ oh well, I’ll stick to the mountains ⛰ 😎
@@AdamGdoesFPV well you done a fantastic job on the spit
Stay well
Brian
Nice Build!
Cheers mate 😃 a bit more work goes into these models that aren't really designed for FPV
Awesome work Adam. Love the above cloud shot 👌🏻
Cheers mate, that cloud was a lot of fun to fly over👌🏻
Wow I have to get a head tracker set up
They really add a lot to the experience of FPV, no matter what model it is.
Nice 👍🏻
Thanks 😊
😆
Great build! Lucky save with the canopy/HDcam. Cool to see FPV in a scale plane!
Cheers mate. Yeah I was happy with that save. It was the first flight for my brand new Osmo Action after smashing the previous one on the Drak 😅 would have been very upsetting to lose it on the first flight 🤣
@@AdamGdoesFPV no risk, no reward right? 😅
Nice video of I can slightly give feedback please slide your cameras over to the left some so we can see straight thru center when your camera pointing forward either way it's totally your call I liked your other mustang videos especially those ones with that top gun music 😂
The camera lens is actually bang on centre, it just doesn’t pivot on the centre so it can give the illusion that it’s off centre once it’s panned slightly. Thanks for watching 😁
That looks cool! I think that an Insta360 Go2 would be a lot more streamlined and make it possible to get the view lower into the cockpit. Also if the windshield plastic can be cut out leaving only the frame parts behind, that that'll create a nice immersive view.
I actually positioned the cameras like this so that I wasn’t so low that it’d be harder to see where I’m going. Yeah I cut the plastic away from all of the canopy apart from the front. Still undecided if I want to remove that too. I have a peanut so I could use that, but im also thinking about converting this to DJI FPV so there may be some changes yet. Cheers 😃
Great video. Next time a bigger spitfire?
Thanks 🙏🏻 as much as I’d love a bigger spitfire with landing gear etc, anything bigger than this is just hard to transport in my car. I’m happy with this one for now
nice... you know you SHOULD have put the vtx in the air intake :D that way you could keep the LG :D
Even with the vtx elsewhere I don’t fly anywhere smooth enough to use landing gear really. There may be one or two locations but then I’d have been limited to them. Cheers
Nice job Adam! On my channel I also have a Dynam Spitfire but am fitting tiny cams to my Eachine Spitfire,P51,T28,Corsair and my first P51 which I converted several months ago into a Spitfire.
Good Luck with your channel, I have Subscribed and looking forward to more FPV in the mountains. As you can see on mine, I get to fly over the White Cliffs of Dover !
Sounds great! Thank your for the sub and welcome to my channel
that looks great flying along I bet. Do you run stabilezed rudder with inav? Or just rc passthrough, just curious.
Yeah I do run stabilised yaw but I’m considering turning it off on my planes as it does weird stuff with the rudder sometimes. Cheers 😁
Guess you have to poke a hole in the fuselage, somewhere behind the wing, but in contact with the FC-room. I have the same and the problem is too much air-pressure inside due to the big inlet in the front without spinner. The flightlevel is always wrong as a result.
Hey, no I didn't have to poke any holes, not really been an issue for me. Cheers
@@AdamGdoesFPV Well, your videofeed shows negative values. Might be the topography as well, but... okay.
Nice set up, Spitfires are always good fliers. I see you traded out the 4 blade for a two blade, looked like the rudder had a lot of right trim with the four blade in the beginning of the flight footage.
I’m thinking it’s the offset of the camera causing the need for that trim.
@@bend7668 Good point. Could be
It will be related to iNav stabilised yaw. Acro mode will try and counter crosswinds. It’s a lot of fun to fly and I need to get it out more 😁
How did you get cg correct with the camera’s? I’ve got a dynam had to add weights in front to avoid tail heavy currently only use 3s is the plane much better 4s? Great video 👍🏻
Just worked out with the layout I chose. Having a heavier 4S battery probably helped though, and it flies pretty well in 4S. Needs the power with all the extra gear on board
@@AdamGdoesFPV ok thank you!
I have an FPV proposal. There is nothing more cool than landing FPV. It heightens the experience because things are happening, and the ground is coming up, and it is total immersive experience. Here is the proposal: FPV landing with PAPI lights that shoots the landing decent approach. PAPI lights would give you the proper glide descent angle. I have not yet seen any youtubers make a PAPI light FPV landing approach video. I just think that would be so neat.
=====
I personally have not flown rc in 20 years, but I am looking at the turbo timber with its flaps and slats and I want to do FPV touch and go.By the way, PAPI lights are not hard to make. It doesn’t even have to be a ‘light’ It can just be visible white and red paint that is half covered (ie the red is covered up at a certain visual angle and the white at another angle). PAPI lights.
=====
So, what do you think? Would you ever consider a PAPI light landing FPV video? Thx.
Hey, thanks for the suggestion but it’s not something I have the time or interest for. Thanks a for watching 😃
Interesting "install"! Cool out-of-canopy view! Isn't it to heavy with all FPV setup and 4S 5000 LiPo?
It's heavier than the recommended AUW but it still flies great. Can fly acrobatic and long range no problem :)
Awesome flight bro, long time sub here, how did you convert regular servo to move almost 360 degrees? what type of resistor did you add?
Cheers for the support 🙌🏻 for the mod you need 2 x 2.2k resistors. I put a link in the description to the pack I purchased which contain a bunch. There are vids online on how to do the mod, only takes 10mins. If you can’t find a vid let me know I’ll find a link
This is so neat. How long do you fight the spit fire with 5000mah?
Thanks :D with my flying style ( i never use cruise throttle, always fly faster) I am usually in the air for 20-25mins
how do you get sound with matek vtx
I never use sound. But if it has a mic you just need to make sure you have an rx that receives sound and speakers/headphones to output the sound
Cual osd compras,?
Hi, this is the iNav OSD using the Matek FC. Full kit list with links in vid description. Thanks :)
How long is the flight time with your setup?
Around 20mins, but I don’t like flying efficiently 😆
So how much does it cost you?
The plane cost around $500 not including the HD camera and Lipo. Also not including any of the gear on the ground like goggles etc. Full parts list in video description so you could work it out 😎
But now you need your friends to buy a Messershmid
Haha yeah I’ve told them this… would make for a good dog fight 😆
