Thanks for watching! Plenty of details on the setup of each plane in this video can be found in the video description. Please leave a reaction before you head off! Cheers :)
What i like about you is you show the good and the bad.
Yeah there's a lot of people that only show the good, leads them to believe it always goes right... but nobody goes through this hobby without bad moments. Hopefully people can learn from mine :)
Hello Adam, every fall hurts a lot. I've redid it myself more than once. Keep doing what you do because you do it very well. I wish you all the best.
All part of the hobby hey 😅 thanks for the feedback I appreciate it 👍🏻
Great video and some good recoveries saved a long hike!!
Thanks Alan! I'm quite pleased there were no long hikes involved haha
Thanks for sharing this. I'm blown away by how well that Drak survived.
Yeah it refuses to die that one, no matter how badly I crash it 😅 I'm sure it will be back again next year. Will be one of my winter restoration projects
That gives a whole new dimension to the term "lawn dart". Thanks for sharing! :)
Haha I've still never seen anything like it! Thanks for watching
Thanks, Adam. It is great to hear post-crash forensics, especially if no one was hurt. When I was learning to fly RC (with a cheap foam glider), I almost always kept flying until I crashed and couldn't fly. (No motor to run the batteries down.) Sometimes even after crashing, once I got wise and brought 5-minute epoxy with me! I eventually started calling it the Frankenglider, it was so grotesque looking and had been brought back from the dead so many times :)
Haha I think we’ve all been there. I have a set of essential field tools in my bag and one is a battery powered hot glue gun with xt60. It’s been used quite a few times to allow a plane to go back in the air again. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
Good to hear from you again. Looking forward to more! :D
Cheers mate 😁 I hope to get more flying done this year so more videos should follow. Just hoping there won’t be another crash video 🤪
Bleeding hell. FairPlay 😮😮😮
Cheers mate. Hopefully no more go like this though 😅
Fair play for sharing and the autopsy, good man. I haven't touched RC in near 2years, but hopefully I will when the house is finished...
Thanks :) Good luck with the house!
This is great Adam, I love learning from others mistakes and understanding their errors. Regarding the controlled flight into terrain, crash #4, I had a similar one happen to me. I noticed a similar thing in your hud and mine - our artificial horizons were a bit high, which I think helps us misjudge where the plane will track. Hard to test that, but it's my theory. Thanks again for sharing your lessons.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it and learned something 😃 I actually enjoy flying without the AHI at all sometimes now, I'm not sure it ever really influenced my low level flying but hard to tell now. Cheers
I like the foam ritewing uses for the drak it's really good but man I greatly dislike having to repair the elevons. Really like this format btw fun to watch
Hey 👋🏻 yes the Drak foam is great stuff, it seems to survive any crash, where a normal plane would have been confetti. I’ve not had the elevon damaged before but I think if they were bad I’d just replace with new balsa elevons. Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Despite the crashes i really enjoyed this footage and the way you narrated it thanks Adam.
Really sorry about the Drak, but amazing the way it nose dived and stayed together at such a high speed.
Looking forward to your next maiden flights with some new wings.☺
Thanks for the great feedback :)
The Drak may live again, we'll see, but I'm not in any rush to repair it right now. Hopefully there will be successful maiden videos coming soon 😅 cheers
Nice flying m8 :) . About the Drak ... be carefull with those electronics before you are using them in other project . The problem was your FC or esc or motor . The servo has nothing to do with your crash. In the moment you lost control your Amps jumped from 35 to 120 in a second . The bec for the servos can't do that and that's not reported anyway.
Thanks Adam, always look forward to your videos. I hope you get more flying done this year.
I hope so too. Glad the vids provide some entertainment 😃👍🏻 cheers
Very enjoyable video to watch. I am still amazed that the Zcon went through that small tree with so little damage.
You and me both! Thanks for watching
Keep it in the air not in your shoulder nice video Adam 👍🏻
And its not even a Parrot 😄
Thank you... we all learn from you sharing this.. !!
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you found it helpful 😁
Holy shit these things are resillient. Have just added some silicone tubing keepers to the graugans control links thanks to this advice. Thank you for sharing!
Hard to believe it just kept flying after hitting the ground and the drak really did bury itself well!
Yeah you don’t want that thing going into the ground after all the work it takes to build it! Annoying that one very simple thing can cause this.
Yeah the Zcon has had a few close calls now, not looking as clean as it used to 😅 however I’m building another one at the moment with twin motors 😎👌🏻
@@AdamGdoesFPV at this point I'm starting to think about redundancy systems, eeek lol
You've made very interesting video! Subscribed !
Thank you 😊 welcome to my channel 🙌🏻
Some good crashes over there jeez!
Nice too see that a master also fails so now and then 😎 👍
Haha we all crash now and then, just part of it. Cheers
@@AdamGdoesFPV absolutely haha! Have fun mate!
Great video! I learned a lot! Subbed 👍🏽
Thanks 🙏🏻 and welcome to the channel 😎
@Adam G does FPV Is there a vinyl you recommend for the type of foam the drak is made from? Just got a nano, already lusting after a mini 🤣
@@chinny0803 haha nice 👌🏻 I just use standard automotive vinyl. The key is to laminate the plane first and then the vinyl sticks extremely well. Wouldn’t be great direct on foam. Cheers
Wow amazing how you managed to get those 2 high speed crashes back home. Maybe PLA (LW?) or a stronger 3d printing material is better than foam - it's better if something breaks than if it distorts, and foam probably distorts way easier than PLA would break I think. Then again, maybe they wouldn't make it home so I don't know...
For me foam is way better than any 3D printed plane. One small knock and they brake as they’re brittle. Have to try and separate sections without damaging them to replace broken part with fresh print. Foam can be fixed and reshaped in minutes or even just in the field with a portable hot glue gun (been done many times 😅)
Crikey Adam... expensive 🫣...nice place you fly at though👍🍻
Yeah those Lipos :/ But yeah It's a nice area to fly
@@AdamGdoesFPV 👍🍻
Nice recoveries on a couple of those. I always consider it a win if I can fly it back and land the wing. Going out to find a downed plane is not fun. Thanks for the vid!
Yeah for sure! That first Zcon one through the tree would have been a right pain to get to! Cheers mate
Interesting video from the top of the mountain...lol .. We've all done it at some time or other....Those graphene batteries just aren't worth it IMO...They don't perform like they hype them up either...So, are you saying the clevis failed in the Drac vertical crash?...Nice analysis too, often times these crashes are a mystery....🤔😳😳😏😏😀🇬🇧
Yeah the clevis on the Drak, I can't see any other reasonable explanation for what happened. The Graphene Lipos i purchased as they came highly recommended by Rupert, and he's the mad scientist that knows all about high speed setups. cheers
@@AdamGdoesFPV Weird, those metal clevis are probably the safest out there. So stiff it's difficult to drop over the horn. Even without silicon fuel tube keepers I'd say they are bomb proof...You didn't glue threaded rods into tubular carbon did you?...🤔🤔😳😳🇬🇧
Heh pure Drake, surprised it managed to go so deep into the ground and still survive at 230km/h impact
It was mad, was like sword in the stone 🤣🤣 Drak seems to survive anything, as it definitely can be fixed!
Are you using ArduPilot or iNav ?
Just iNav :)
Great video as per usual. Im surprised you rely on a bec for flight controls, ive seen to many go in because of a bec falure, i fly anything over 4s on a seperate Life battery, light and small and powerfull with hv digital servos, it worked well. Im not brave enough to go sbus, again single point failure rather than individual cable for each channel....maybe one day.
To be honest I've had something like 30+ FPV planes with an assortment of different electronics and I've never had a BEC die on me. I've had ESCs die which is why I have a stand alone bec just in case and thats saved me once or twice. As for the SBUS cable, I think it's the safest way as its one point of failure whereas a single cable for each channel multiplies points of failure. Likelihood is if one of them fails you're going to have trouble. If SBUS does fail (which again i've never had fail, nor heard of anyone have this fail), it's just going to go into RTH and circle above home until it eventually starts to lose altitude due to lack of battery.
@Adam G does FPV I get your point and yes stand alone bec, I think depends on what your flying, some of the lads run 2 sbus with diagonal surfaces, if one goes you might get it back on the other same with individual wiring lose one you still got the others (provided failure is neutral I guess) I've see many escs fail and take out the bec tho, but never heard of sbus failure. Each to there own preference.
When you said crashes i wasnt expecting you to kamikaze yourself right off the start 😭😭😭
Haha yeah that was a funny one though 😅
Only thing I'll remember from this video, if you crash fast enough, you won't crash. (Unless it was perpendicular to the ground)
hahahaha sounds about right 😆 thanks for watching
A coupe these were not crashes, more like touch and goes, as kept on flying.
OK, maybe bash and goes.
Great analyses and review. Like for format. Thanks for sharing Adam.
Looks like the worst damage was to your wallet, in needing to buy replacement batteries.
Perhaps worth wrapping batteries in a layer of compression foam?
I know what you mean but it's not easy to make a video title of "some crashes and some ha;f crash touch and go's" haha. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah the only damage I was annoyed about was the batteries as they were expensive and brand new... plus I did some tough work stripping them down and resoldering the XT90 on really short
It's been a year. Where's the new crashing video😁
😅 I don't remember having any crashes since actually... However, the crazy news is that the Drak is ready for re-maiden!
@@AdamGdoesFPV Can't wait for it!
hi, i tried settiup up my 1.3ghz system on 5802d monitor but i see blue screen only( anyone can help fix this (?
Sounds like you've not connected output from rx to the input on the monitor correclty
Air Crash Investigation ....NO Human Casualties ....That's what it's all about ...! !00% Survival rate Adam ...Well done ..shit Happens ...
Haha true! I would never fly this Drak near people, for reasons like this flight 😅 honestly out of all of these crashes and close calls the only thing that really annoyed me was wrecking my new Funjet batteries 🙄 cheers mate 🙌🏻
😬😬😬😬😬😬😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝👋👋👋
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
