Awesome as always! I'm flying with almost the same Battery capacity ( 3400mAh 4S 10C (2p) home made 6800mAh). It's the best option to cruise instead of punch out the battery packs for LR. Once below 3.5v a high amp draw will slam the voltage down a lot with not so much voltage recovery!

However, if you want extremely smooth cinematic shots then it might not be a bad idea. I'd have thought there would be a lighter one designed for FPV rather than hand held though?
Hey Adam nice flight but nicer intro! Great man cave mate! Honesty too...it must be a universal truth that all RC FPV flyers look like that when rising to the challenge of an early flight! I have been flying on LiIon for 6months or more now, building my own packs and your right they take a bit of adjustment to get used to. The voltage and amperage drop in the bottom third is substantially greater than Lipo's. As you found out 😂 I won't go back to Lipo for long range though the Lions are so much better especially the cost advantage when building your own packs 👍
Cheers mate :D thanks for the great feedback! Yeah the intro had a few cool transitions, not sure if many even noticed the one as I passed in front of the Pepperbox haha. I'm just so used to Lipo's where you have almost full performance still right near the very end.
My heart sank when I read the title - I thought you had lost the plane. Phew. Deffo would be interested in finding out about the ZOHD battery - I tried to order two from a supplier who claimed to be in Italy - they could not supply the zohd version so they ended up making me a zohd equivalent (li-ion)- I have yet to test but it worked out a fiver cheaper and it ended up coming from China anyway... They will be my tester, though weather has either been too hot or too stormy in old blighty to go out - am waiting for that perfect weekend so I can get to a mountain about 20km's away to try . Yikes! Glad you got the plane back though fella - beautiful flight
Cheers Carl :D I'd say just don't make the mistake I did, on your earlier tests just make sure you're fairly close to home for the last quarter of your battery life. Weather has been pretty bad recently, I've done a lot less flying because of it... May was super!
Thank you very much! I did put more effort into the finish on this one :) As James says, the antennas (mostly the Pepperbox) and getting the right location is key. I have a new secret weapon on the way as I want to run along that river as low as possible... 👀😎
Excellent video! When you're out at 10km, your home position is still well above your aircrafts position, right? You're aiming your vRX antenna essentially down to your vTX? I've flown behind decent motts of trees with a standard 800mW vTX +PBox and it's a fair amount of fuzz. Loving your location.
Thank you :) If you pause at 1:31 you'll actually find that the plane is around 1m above the home position, but soon it drops well below. My antenna is facing almost straight out rather than being aimed up or down. Always good to try different angles because you may find aiming it down slightly will produce better results. Thanks for watching
I have a very similar set up to you - I flew on Li-ion 7000 for a while but actually found flying on the Turnigy 10C 4s 8000 packs gives better performance - I get just over an hour's flight-time but no sag towards the end of the flight. Sure it's heavier but the Talon can take it, the plane is a legend!
@@AdamGdoesFPV I think if they did a bigger capacity pack - say around the 10,000-12,000 mah Li-ion - that would work better for the Talon on our set-ups.

Hi, I have no idea if there are any suitable for fixed wings these days. My personal preference right now is a decent action cam with stabilisation like my DJI Osmo Action. It makes fixed wing footage so much more enjoyable to watch. Hope this helps.
Hi, If you are looking to cruise on low amps for long flight times then yes this would be ideal. If you'd like a bit more punch or to fly more aggressively then Lipo's are the way to go. Cheers
what's the c rating on them packs? my build is recommending a 4s 4000 35c lipo. defiantly could get bigger or lighter or both with ion but can't see a c rating on them
Hi mate, i've finally pulled the trigger to build a plane, as i've been in racing drones for the past 6 years almost. I've bought a used Volantex Raptor v2, stock everything - got it cheap af. Im wondering, would 3s 5800mah be sufficient enough for a 2m wing length plane, or would you recommend going to a 4s? Im not planning to be super sporty with it, more like a slow long range cruiser. Thanks :D
Hey, 3S is probably fine to be honest, it’s all about the motor/prop combo that goes with it. I don’t know much about that plane so maybe check with some people that fly them. Good luck and welcome to the world of planes 😃
Hello! I am a beginner to the hobby, and I happen to have a few questions to ask of you. I’ve been doing some research, and I’ve found out that the Crossfire system is quite reliable and long range, and since it’s within my budget, I will probably get it. But, when I saw the TBS Tango 2, I thought it was the perfect controller, though I have yet to purchase anything. I plan to fly on either the ZOHD Dart XL or Talon GT Rebel, and was just wondering, should I buy the Tango 2 or something else?
Hi Vincent. It's hard to make a suggestion because there is so much choice out there and it's just down to personal preference. The TBS gear looks great, and even though I don't use it, I think it's good looking kit that you won't regret buying. You definitely do not need a ground station, most beginners would go with 5.8g for video to start and buy goggles with built in 5.8g receiver. Between the Talon GT and the Dart I'd for sure go with the Talon GT. I think it flies better and doesn't have the issue the Dart has with nose breaking off really easily on not so perfect landings.
@@vincentngo9494 Mini Talon, because it's arguably the best all rounder for FPV and cheap. MFD Crosswind is a great plane too, I have one expected to be delivered next week. Cannot tell you which is better yet
No this is probably the worlds most popular plane, the Mini Talon. It is 1300mm wingspan so bigger than the ZOHD. Full kit list in the video description :)
May i ask what is the parameter you tuned on your talon, mine has almost the same setting but shake a lot, the MFD provides Pitch gain and rate control doesnt like the traditional PID, so dont know how should i do it
From memory I didn’t do any tuning. I used the Mini Talon preset and that worked well for me. If you already did that I’d just check things like CG are correct
Im a really good pilot with a highly fpv capable platform "radjet 800 custom build w 3674 2500kv / 4000mah 4s 100c" but i know nothing about fpv and there are so many options and i have not to much money. I read forums for a couple months before ordering parts for radjet so i want it fast and nice. Any advice for a good cheap setup?
If you think you can't do this in Australia with its massive open spaces, then you can't do it anywhere...Finding somewhere remote should be child's play for you.
There are plenty of rules everywhere, some valid and some a bit silly. I just try to make sure that what I do is safe, in that I don't fly above people or built up areas and don't fly in a way that would risk full size aviation.
So you couldn't fly 1.8km on 6amps? Also what do you mean you could only pull 6 amps? I guess you mean there was only enough juice to be able to pull six amps without the voltage going below 3.0 per cell?
I was a minus altitude and at full throttle i was only pulling 6a. This was never going to be enough to climb home. If i had been at positive altitude I would have made it back. Cheers
No, it’s fine to use most copyrighted music. You’ll get an email explaining that copyrighted media is detected and that you will not get a strike, but the copyright owner will receive income for adverts on your video. In 5 years I came across 1 song that I was not allowed to use. No copyright strike but basically they said the video will not be visible publicly.

Hi, I have no idea if there are any suitable for fixed wings these days. My personal preference right now is a decent action cam with stabilisation like my DJI Osmo Action. It makes fixed wing footage so much more enjoyable to watch. Hope this helps.
👍
Thank you :)
Can i request you to make a video about setup mini talon in ardupilot using f405 wing and qx7 radio?
Hi, unfortunately that's not going to happen as I don't use ardupilot and I don't have a qx7... sorry
@@AdamGdoesFPV how about inav with other tx?
hey adam, would you recommend this battery instead of a 12c 6.6amp lipo for the mini talon?
Hi, If you are looking to cruise on low amps for long flight times then yes this would be ideal. If you'd like a bit more punch or to fly more aggressively then Lipo's are the way to go. Cheers
what's the c rating on them packs? my build is recommending a 4s 4000 35c lipo.
defiantly could get bigger or lighter or both with ion but can't see a c rating on them
Hi, the C rating isn't listed but it does say 10a per cell continuous. Cheers
Banggood stopped shipping ZOHD Lion packs to Germany :( All I got was one 4s1p and two 2s1p...
Yeah that’s a shame 😰 it will be German laws preventing it, same as UK. Banggood still ship them to countries that allow.
Also, as a beginner, do you need a ground station other than your controller?
Adam G does FPV I am also looking into some of the x uav and MFD Crosswind products. Which do you recommend and why?
@@vincentngo9494 Mini Talon, because it's arguably the best all rounder for FPV and cheap. MFD Crosswind is a great plane too, I have one expected to be delivered next week. Cannot tell you which is better yet
Is this a smaller version of the zohd talon evo ?
No this is probably the worlds most popular plane, the Mini Talon. It is 1300mm wingspan so bigger than the ZOHD. Full kit list in the video description :)
No gimbal just the osmo right?
That’s correct. No gimbal just the camera 👍🏻
@@AdamGdoesFPV Thanks, but i fly well on manual just vibrate on stable mode
If it’s oscillating you may need to check your throws. If they are ok then consider reducing the P gain on whatever axis it oscillating in
Im a really good pilot with a highly fpv capable platform "radjet 800 custom build w 3674 2500kv / 4000mah 4s 100c" but i know nothing about fpv and there are so many options and i have not to much money. I read forums for a couple months before ordering parts for radjet so i want it fast and nice. Any advice for a good cheap setup?
On the Radjet I'd go with something like the Ratel camera and a Rush Tank or AKK vtx. It's a small plane so you want to use 5.8 really
Which number was voltage?
i think it was down to 2.5v per cell
I’m just finding out this type of remote control flying. Do the rules in your country allow such flying? I don’t think it’s allowable in Australia.
Cheers
Where do you get licensed music?
Hi John, I get licence free music from the UA-cam library. I mostly used licensed music like in this video, which I just download from UA-cam videos.
Adam G does FPV do you get copy right strikes for using licensed music like this?
No, it’s fine to use most copyrighted music. You’ll get an email explaining that copyrighted media is detected and that you will not get a strike, but the copyright owner will receive income for adverts on your video. In 5 years I came across 1 song that I was not allowed to use. No copyright strike but basically they said the video will not be visible publicly.
Really awesome video! Thanks for sharing. People like you have inspired me to improve my setup. You might like to see my latest videos... mine are a long way off this quality though! Thanks again
Hi Phil, it really pleases me to hear that my videos have provided inspiration 👌🏻 I will take a look at your videos 😊👍🏻
