Great comparison of the these drones. The Mini 2 still has a lot going for it, especially the lower price point. You can't go wrong with either one really. Thanks for sharing Jeven.

My story started about 3 weeks ago. We are planning our coming up vacation and I saw the UA-cam ad for one of those cheap camera drones. I don’t know anyone personally who has a drone nor had I ever flown a drone. So I started doing research into what drone I should buy. Gradually my cost began to go from $100 to $300. After giving myself a top budget of $600 I decided to buy the DJI Mini 2 fly more package. After having it for the last 2 weeks I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m totally hooked. Even though I can see the Mini 3 Pro is a better drone, I don’t regret at all my decision. I had no idea how much I would actually love this thing at the time of my purchase. I now know I will probably get the Mini 3 pro next summer and I’ll be able to appreciate the difference between it and my Mini 2.
From a lot of videos I’ve watched on the mini 3, the major factor is the transmission strength of the new RC controller. What is your final take on the signal strength of the RC controller?
Easy decision for me. Ordered the mini 3 pro. Didn't have a drone before. But I love editing pictures that I take with my Sony Alpha 77. And all the advantages that increase picture quality come in handy for that. Thanks for the informative video.
The mini 2 is the better value and will satisfy 90% of all users. Plus it works perfect. Even if you want to get the mini 3 pro I’d recommend waiting until next spring to allow DJI fix all the glitches. PS. Never preorder or be the first to buy a new drone. Wait 3 to 6 months to let the manufacturer fix all the glitches. I have the mini 2 and plan to buy the mini 3 pro next spring.
For me, it's all about diminishing returns. I can get 90% of Mini3 with a Mini2 for half the price of a Mini3. Neither has side obstacle-avoidance so not an issue for me as most videos require side avoidance. Active tracking can be done with Litchi/Maven/Dronetrack etc. I'm sticking with Mini2 for now.
Stuff like tracking is way better with sensors and front and back are the most useful ones although side ones would be nice aswell. Tracking is better and easier than via third party apps. Camera is a big step up (10bit, vertical, Cinelike, lowlight). So sure for many, a Mini 2 will be enough. But I wouldnt say you get 10% with the Mini 3
The new v3 is massively superior, no doubt about that, BUT, I'm very happy with my little 2 as is, and I don't take any crazy chances for crash, and the video quality is nice too, so as much as I appreciate all the features and quality of the v3, I'll stick with my v2! Also, I have 4 batteries, antennas, chargers and what not for the Mini 2, and I'm not willing to sell them all cheap just to come up with half of the price I would need for the Mini 3 upgrade. But I love the V3 for sure, wish I could afford it as a second unit! :)
Good information - I finally upgraded from my Mini 1 to a Mini 2 a couple months ago. I’ll stick with the Mini 2 until the remote ID law is implemented in 2023. Not sure how that will affect existing Drone Equipment.
I just got my first "real" drone - the Mini 2 Combo pkg. Price was the real driver in my decision. I also picked up the Litchi iOS app (about $25) and am loving the automated way point missions that can be planned on either the web or on the phone. Litchi (or other 3rd party flying apps) won't be available for the Mini 3 Pro until DJI makes the business decision to release the SDK. I have a lot of manual flying skill yet to develop. I hope to take a big motorcycle camping trip this fall - and will love being able to video the country I ride through..... Being able to use Way Point MIssions is a BIG deal to me.....
Sound advise Jeven. For a beginner that looking to add the occasional aerial footage to my regular ground level videos I think the mini 2 is really good enough, but the higher spec camera of the 3 is hard to ignore.
Thank you Jeven. Truly a very honest and thorough review! Because of you, I'm going to upgrade to the Mini3. I especially love the added sensor, the 48mp camera, the 10 bit color grading, (yay less color grading), and the added battery life is huge!
love your explanations and tutorials of DJI Mini 3 Pro. I also saw a footage you took of my home country Belize. Keep up the positive work. Learning a lot my friend.
Air 2S has been my choice but guess one should "upgrade" to the latest technology. Air 2 must be a bargain at current prices. Jeven your focused reviews stand out from the crowd. Thanks for the detail in this one.
I have just purchased the mini 2 to level up and enhance my travel vlogs. I’m going to Jamaica next year do you have any advice for travelling long haul with a drone.
the color comparison in the beginning of the video has helped me decide right away to stay with the Mini 2 because who has the time to edit video color after each recording? most of us just want to record and upload it with very minimal editing.
I’m looking at buying the mini 2 but I have a spark that has active tracking and all that plus obstacle avoidance so I’m wondering why dji would get rid of features if the mini replaced the spark.
Thanks for the great comparison. I've been thinking about these exact two drones. Got a DJI Phantom when it first came out (more than ten years ago) and built a couple of quad copters. Since then I've shelved the hobby. It's time to play some more. Side note. If you'd been on a different rock in one of your last clips you could have gotten a pic of Whitney in there.

If you are going to use your footage from a State Park in your UA-cam video and it's monetized, you must have your part 107. Also, in a state park, you will have to have a permit from the park that takes weeks to obtain and you have to tell them in advance where, the date, and time. They make it almost impossible to obtain with the permit price. If you are not at a park you still need the part 107 to put on the internet for profit such as a realtor filming properties. The work around is if technically it never leaves the ground. If you were to take a thin fishing line and attach it to the bottom of the drone from a drop wire configuration, that means that the drone is attached to ground.
Great video! Im gonna use the Mini 2 for some time, and then see if I need the upgrade to the Mini 3. Love your content buddy, keep it up. Love from Norway
As of June 1st 2022, there are A LOT of mini 3 owners where their connection to the remote cuts out around 1500 ft and return to home is enabled. This sounds like a problem that needs to be addressed by DJI very quickly.
I thought this was just me. I had the same thing happen on my first flight. Cut out and lost connection at a low altitude only about 50 feet and performed RTH quickly. Scary I never had any issues with my Mini 2. Now I’m sad I sold it for the mini 3 pro.
@@fredstead5652 the latest update from DJI appears to have fixed my earlier issues. Thank goodness. The built in screen is nice but one thing to note is you still have a hard time seeing it in sunlight and I have not found a shade hood for it yet. Keeping that in mind it is very nice to not worry about my phone. The obstacle avoidance works great but it is not on the side and I’ve crashed already on the side. User error as I was not used to the speed of the drone sideways. Seems much faster then the mini 2 when going sideways.
I have the mini three pro but there is a mini two available for a 300 on marketplace. Needed to decide if it would be worth picking up for higher risk situations

hello sir.. yesterday my drone fell in a wet area... the condition of the drone is good.. but there is sand in the gimbal.. near the phone screen it says the gimbal is stuck... can I use WD-40 oil for the gimbal. Mr. has another suggestion...
Sweet comparison. That was extremely helpful. I'm a first-time drone user (never flown one) but I have a vision of where I'm going. The 3 will definitely get me there with a much greater degree of success.
DUDE!! Love this video. I have the Mini 2 and reallllllly like it. Im very intrigued by the 3 Pro buuut the cost difference is substantial. I appreciate you taking the time to provide a detailed comparison!
Features aren't the issue - it's the price difference. I would LOVE a 3, but can barely justify the Mini 2, even finding refurbs - or Costco prices. My greatest hope is that DJI will update the RC controller to work with the Mini 2 as well (low probablility, but hope springs eternal...)
I have never sceen no one explaine functions better than you. You should make operation videos for other drones. Be great to have you show how to get best out of cheaper drones
In my opinion for the price difference you may as well get the Air 2S instead of the mini 3 unless you want the under 249 gram limit. You can almost buy 2 full complete Mini 2's for 1 mini 3 pro. Sure it's better but not for twice the price.
Although new technology is awesome, I love my M2. I feel that at times we get caught up in the hype, however, when you look at what you are capable of doing with the tools you own you realize why spend more money. So what you don't have as many sensors and higher quality of the video. Just fly safer and when it comes to quality if you shoot the scene or take that picture with the settings you have.I feel that many professionals can't tell the difference let alone a novice like myself.
Just ordered a mini 3 pro with the freewell ND filters. My first drone, and my first real attempt at photography/videography outside of having a gopro hero 7 black. Always wanted to get into this as a hobby, and possible do some side hustle work with real estate aerial photography.
Just got my first drone, mini 3 pro with rc controller. can't believe the shots capable with this.. even in scotland with really high winds down by the sea. this thing just laughed at it and stayed solid. super impressive.
i just got a new job for photography and he wants me to fly drones for weddings. I have the mini 2 as of now and i’m looking to upgrade should i get the mini 3 or save up for something better like the mavic.
I have the mini 2 and use the rainbow app with mine that allows you to use follow me mode hyperlapse etc although I don't have the sensors on the drone as long as you use the sense in your head and fly in places that has no obsticals and keep an eye on the drone whilst flying there is no reason to crash majority of drone crashes are caused by pilot errors and not falts of the drone it's self
I have the original Mini. I do want to upgrade for raw shooting but not sure if I should go with the mini 2 or make the bigger leap and go with the 3 for the extra features. I do like the idea of active tracking and flat video profile too
its a budget thing i guess.. do you find the mini 3 worth it and is the money not a problem... go for the 3. i just bought the mini 2 because it costs half of the 3 and does what i need in a drone.
5:30 Active track has nothing to do with the sensors. DJI’s previous drones without these sensors had active tracking. Its just that DJI has locked it so that they can differntiate and force you to buy the expensive one.
That mini 3 looking real sweet, even if it’s next to the mavic air line! Love hearing your insights on these drones, I’m confident about potentially investing in the mini 3! 💯✔️🔥
Hi i Need help with this question…. How many 47minutes battery DJI provided if i buy the DJI mini 3 pro FMC plus? 2 x 47minutes with 1 x 34 minutes battery?
You have great videos but what you are leaving out is what android or smartphones are compatible with the drones. I almost purchased one but at the last minute found out that my phone is not compatible with the DJI drones. This is an issue that the company should rectify. Buying a high dollar phone to own a DJI drone is not in my budget
As somebody who loves night photography, I'd love to hear comments about the stability of the 3 pro vs 2. I got about 2-3 sec exposure time out of the mini 2 on very calm days before even 2-3 safety shots didn't help getting a sharp one. I would hope the mini 3 can at least match that.
Seems like the dji mini2 would best suit me but can someone tell me if it has the rth function button please. And am I also right in thinking because it is under 250grm I can just go and fly without any licence or insurance ?? I have read up on a few rules for small. Thanks in advance
I got the all in one RC which looked cool on the website but I struggle to see it in bright light. It really needs a sunshade but with the sticks over the screen it will be difficult to adapt one to fit. Also, when using my iPhone with the Mini 2 controller I really appreciated having all the stills appear in my iPhone photos which does not happen when using the all-in-one.
Jeven, I just bought a DJI mini 3 pro and have been watching your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your knkowledge. I do have a question about audio. In one of your other videos you are demonstrating Quickshots. You have music playing. Then you have your voice on there as well. Is your narration added real time or do you add it post processing?
bought a mini 2 instead of mini 3 pro. i think the price difference is pretty signficant.. if im paying over a grand for a mini i might as well get a air2s. Also the mini 3 pro have a lot of signal range issue, even after the latest updates. This is heavily discussed in many of the forums and mini subreddit. Buy at your own risk, but for the time being mini 2 is a no brainer.. until Dji completely fix the mini3 pro

@@genarogonzalez1932 I'm going to most likely go for the mini 3 pro. I would prefer the Mavic but don't want to spend that amount.
Can i use the rc controller with display from the 3 also for the mini 2?
Features aren't the issue - it's the price difference. I would LOVE a 3, but can barely justify the Mini 2, even finding refurbs - or Costco prices. My greatest hope is that DJI will update the RC controller to work with the Mini 2 as well (low probablility, but hope springs eternal...)
Ur broke
@@johnbrown4350 Not everyone can spend $1000 on a toy. People got bills to pay.
At the 5:48 mark, did you want to say the "From front to back, you have it on the Mini 3??
I have never sceen no one explaine functions better than you. You should make operation videos for other drones. Be great to have you show how to get best out of cheaper drones
It good video for choosing drone
Idk which one I should get either the mini 2 or 3 but I don’t know if they both are the same video wise when doing night video shootings.
Great vid man👍👍🔥
Finally decent review. Good job mate
Just ordered a mini 3 pro with the freewell ND filters. My first drone, and my first real attempt at photography/videography outside of having a gopro hero 7 black. Always wanted to get into this as a hobby, and possible do some side hustle work with real estate aerial photography.
Would the mini 3 pro be a good upgrade from the original mavic air? I have the original still.
Great video, quick and to the point. Great job
I made a comparison to, but am i right in thinking that your side by side make the 3 seem a bit out of focus?
100% think the mini 2 is a better choice at less than half the price. Every piece of footage I’ve seen looks amazing
You can get amazing footage with the 2. Less bells and whistles but still a solid drone
I’m looking more for photos over video. Does the 48mp camera make a huge difference over the 12mp?
I have the original Mini. I do want to upgrade for raw shooting but not sure if I should go with the mini 2 or make the bigger leap and go with the 3 for the extra features. I do like the idea of active tracking and flat video profile too
its a budget thing i guess.. do you find the mini 3 worth it and is the money not a problem... go for the 3. i just bought the mini 2 because it costs half of the 3 and does what i need in a drone.
This was a video I was looking forward to, because if anyone understands drones the most, it's you Jeven Dovey😁
So true!
Has either of these drone have any reported problems with motors?
5:30
Active track has nothing to do with the sensors.
DJI’s previous drones without these sensors had active tracking. Its just that DJI has locked it so that they can differntiate and force you to buy the expensive one.
Use the Mini 2 with the Maven App for great shots ! (Orbits and Cable Cam as well as Waypoint Missions) I love it !
Maven app only works on Apple
@@MrJeffboyers Correct !
That mini 3 looking real sweet, even if it’s next to the mavic air line! Love hearing your insights on these drones, I’m confident about potentially investing in the mini 3! 💯✔️🔥
ive had the mini one and the mini 2 and they are both awesome, three is not really necessry for me atm but it looks great!
Hi i Need help with this question….
How many 47minutes battery DJI provided if i buy the DJI mini 3 pro FMC plus?
2 x 47minutes with 1 x 34 minutes battery?
which camera did you use to record this video?
A7S III
You have great videos but what you are leaving out is what android or smartphones are compatible with the drones. I almost purchased one but at the last minute found out that my phone is not compatible with the DJI drones. This is an issue that the company should rectify. Buying a high dollar phone to own a DJI drone is not in my budget
As somebody who loves night photography, I'd love to hear comments about the stability
of the 3 pro vs 2.
I got about 2-3 sec exposure time out of the mini 2 on very calm days before even 2-3 safety shots
didn't help getting a sharp one. I would hope the mini 3 can at least match that.
Really good review for beginners and novice owners wanting to upgrade.
Can you use the mini 2 battery for mini 3?
Yes it does quick transfer
Mini2 and my ipad 9th edition excellent, Who needs mini3 at £1200.
@@tonyrobinson362 £1200 don’t know where you get that price it’s £1018 with flymore kit.
Now that the M3P can be flown FPV with the googles and motion controller I'm extra extra glad I chose it as my first drone
At 5:52, you say there are front and back sensors on the Mini 2. Also, it's "obstacle."
The are batteries interchangeable?
No different batteries
This is exactly the way I felt, and it's exactly what I did. I got the Air2S.
Excellent video! Great narration and scripting.
Great video👌👌 I've had the Mini 2 for nearly a year now and upgraded to the mini 3 now and sold the mini 2.😄
this is the exact review I've been looking for.
Hello fellow UA-cam'r. Brilliant video answering all of the questions I needed to know. I am still using the Mavic mini original. It works well, but I'd like to upgrade. I want the 3 even more now! 😁
been waiting for this. satisfied!
Please suggested the best camera dron.......
All depends on what you need
need help, why does my mini 3 pro gain altitude when i fly forward? My mini 2 didn't do that.
I have 2 Mini 2's and a Very large commercial drone. I've had the Mini 2's since the came out. Nothing compares to the Mini 2 for price and performance.. I really like them and wouldn't by anything else..
Have you tried manual settings + nd filter? I. sure it looks way better that way
Great video! Lots of professional hints. Thanks!!
Jeven i just want to know to you if i upgrade may mini 2 to air2s what are the difference with the mini 3. What your recommendation to us for this matter.
I'm still learning about drones, good stuff!!!
