Bruh, the first part of this and the previous video, volume level is really low. Just a note. Maybe post could help with that. But my headphones are at max and i can barely hear you (open shokz pro conductions and quiet environment) but when you cut to handheld, its better. You may know, you may not, but i figure i may be a voice of critique for ya. Your car is calean. Uptop, looks beand new. Trying to reinstall my sub after clutch job. Its been 30 years and almost done. But the holes are not lining up, i dont want to spend time like i did trying to stab the trans into the engine (3 literal hours by hand. On a jack to help with the weight)

Thanks for the feedback- much appreciated. Learning as I go and hopefully videos will improve as I do more. Hope you get your subframe back in soon 👍

You made light work of that. Did you use an impact on the mounts to body bolts? I didnt when removing the front on my golf before Christmas but the minis bolts look rotten lol

Cheers. Looks easier on the vid 😆 I didn't on the front subframe. I think it had been off some time in the past or at least dropped down for some work. The bolts came undone fairly easily but it is "squeaky bum time" hoping they don't snap. Don't even want to think about that scenario. Again, it's not that difficult- just need to take your time. I have been using an impact wrench on some things now. Hope yours is going well. When I did a TT rear subframe a while back they had stretch bolts, did your golf?

@@RichT53 thanks for the reply... Will be soaking liberally in the days running up to removal and heating up before cracking..... Saw me good on the golf frame that hadn't been off since it was new in 98.. And being in a Scotland for 14 years lol not sure if stretch or not, but I replaced all associated bolts when doing the front and rear.... Circa £150 from vw 🤦 look forward to next r53 update... 😊👍

@@rickydub6950 It was the same with the TT- Price of bolts alone were ridiculous. My TT actually went up to Aberdeen and I'm still in contact with Charlie, who bought it as he has an R53 as well. Whereabouts in Scotland are you? Was up in Falkirk just before Christmas seeing a customer. I'm wanting a Mk7 Golf GTi next- want to get back to the Nurburging (AWESOME!)

@@RichT53 not far from Glasgow 👍 have a mk7 R as a nice daily but it has spent most of the winter in garage with mk2 16v.... Mk4 and mk5 taking the winter battering lol Better weather on the way soon hopefully 🤞😀 where did you get your subframes from?

@@rickydub6950 I got both off ebay. Just got the rear from a seller called globalparts-uk. It's 2nd hand but in really good condition and I see they have another one for sale. I love the Mk2 & mk3 Golf (my era) and keep toying with the idea of picking up a mk3. Mk2 now getting pricey. A mk7 gti performance or R is definitely on the cards next for me. I had a mk4 but the less said about that the better 😒. Glasgow- been a while. I remember going into a night club years ago- Clatty Patty's 🤫 Had a great night in Paisley on a karaoke night- you boys can sing!
