Great video! I use both types in my leatherwork but I prefer to use the saddle rivets as well. I like the tubular (called rapid rivets here in the US) rivets for small projects that won't see heavy use. You did a great job describing the differences and strengths of each.
I am on a binge on your channel - I'm loving it! I do have a rivet question, what are the strongest/heavy duty rivets out there? thinking of making (trying to make) a horse lead
Hello. The compartment boxes I use are from a store called 'The Range' They have branches throughout the UK. Their size is 35.5cm x 22cm x 4.5cm. The hammer is a generic nylon/rubber headed hammer weight approx. 750g, available from any tool supplier/eBay. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the guide to doing this, need to repair a bag where the rivets have broken. very well explained.
Glad it helped
Really enjoy your channel. Thank you!

Hi. Enjoy your binge! The strongest rivets are copper Saddler's rivets. They come in different thicknesses.
i love this type of handwork the only thing i have problem with are the size numberings#5 #8 #9, how to translate to metric
Hello Willem. Yes it can be confusing, as each manufacturer and each country have different naming systems.

@@HobbyBloxs Thank You. That helps me to look.
Everyone is asking where to get the plastic boxes from, so here is a link: tidd.ly/3cUA8SL
To save your ears I would recommend a rawhide or plastic mallet when using the setting tool!
Yes. You are right. Thanks for your input.
