Thank you for making a video without all the fancy music - all the extra stuff that people try to put in their videos. Just great information right to the point.
I definitely appreciate that Freddie! I’m definitely low tech and have learned a few improvements since this, my first UA-cam Thank you
i just found you on youtube and watched all your videos in one day . i have made knife sheath for 5 years and watched hundreds of videos and yours are the best i have seen.
Well Chuck you’ve made my day with your kind words and review That’s huge and I will use that as motivational fuel. Thanks so much
I love the small details: end cut nippers, using a washer as a spacer, and a large ballpeen hammer for solid striking. No guessing the height or using a nylon or rawhide hammer here. I feel confident in rivets now, thanks.
So glad this was helpful for you Alan!! I appreciate the time you took to leave those kind words. Also that large ballpeen hammer was made of brass so as to not peen over the setters. Thanks!!
Fantastic video sir. Thanks for the advice!
I thank you for the kind review Brent! Appreciate that sincerely
Cool so cool thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. It was about 30 seconds in and you had me running out to see if I could get my hands on a stump from my neighbors tree they had cut down yesterday 😀
@@wynottgivemore9274 Thank You! I hope you were able to get a stump from them 😆 I also have a short UA-cam video where I highlight that very tree stump work top and a few details about it I appreciate you
Douglas Tools has em I’ll remember to give that information next time. Thank You
FYI - Douglas Tools has retired. Rocky Mountain Leather has a few sets left but that's it. Buckleguy does have their own sets since Douglas stopped making them. They're nearly identical except for the knurling.
I sincerely appreciate the kind review. 🇺🇸🙌
Old dogs can learn new tricks, thank you
Thank you George. For being one of my favorite fastners I now have another tool. I feel like a Neanderthal after watching the removal process.
Thank you for your service as well.
I’ve been doing leatherwork for almost 3 years and have watched hundreds of videos about setting rivets. Yours introduced so many new techniques and I’m super excited to implement them in my upcoming projects. Thanks.
Thank you Keith. Very kind
Well I found this video to be absolutely riveting!! Just kidding George, this is the most informative video on this topic yet. Much better than any of mine. I’m looking forward to more from you.
You are a true master of your craft. Excellent video. Thank you
Thanks Jim A great way to start my day with kind words from you!
Excellent video and presentation. Thanks so much for taking the time to film and share. Mack, Yorkshire, UK👍👍👍
Thank You Mack for not only your kind words but for taking a moment to say so. 🤙
Good job ❤❤❤
Thank you!!
WoW, I can't believe I'm just finding your channel. I hope to see more from you, so far I've learned from you. Thank you for sharing your videos and keep em coming. From Mobile, Alabama
Thank you so much Veronica! It’s nice to hear that and I’m glad it was helpful. I’m also on Instagram @viktorgeorgeleathergoods 👍
Thanks for the kind review. It’s a brass head hammer. I should have mentioned that because you are right about mushrooming with steel hammers
Well look who I found here, great video George... Something tells me this is going to be a great channel to follow! Looking forward to learning even more from you, thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom!
I much appreciate your clear instructions and demonstrations. Keep up the great work.
Very kind of you to say so. I appreciate the support KSH
Very well done. Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you Ray
Awesome, some interesting ideas in there, I wonder if you could stamp a basic design into the head of a copper rivet.
Thanks !! Possibly using some steel decorative stamps would be fun experimenting with. I have stamped the peened burr side with a steel sunburst stamp with mild success. I don’t know how to attach a picture here but it’s on my Instagram Cheers!
Awesome info, thanks George!
This was fantastic! Easily the best and most comprehensive video I've seen about this topic. No other video even comes close to the knowledge you imparted here. Thank you! I can't wait to learn more from you and your vast experience.
Thank you so much for those kind and motivating words Shane. I sincerely appreciate that and I’m constantly trying to improve my channel with each new video. Made my day!!
Excellent video. I have been using these rivets since 1991 and this is new to me. I still dabble in leather, so thank you for sharing.
Sorry I missed responding to your kind words Thank you Larry
Excellent tutorial. Thanks for sharing!
Very helpful
Glad to hear that Thank you
Good video. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.
Very informative! Great presentation! Thank you!
Thanks Ken I appreciate your positive comments👍
Wow! You nailed it with this video! Great work and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Knowing this was helpful to you Marc makes my day. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Using a washer will help us newbies get some consistent results with rivets.
Sorry for this delayed response to your kind words. I still use them today because it's almost fool proof. Thanks for saying so!!!
Sir this was an excellent video. I just found your channel and I'm looking forward to being a long time subscriber. BTW excellent first name, it was my dad's first name and my middle. Hope you don't mind if I call you George. Thank you again for a great video.
Well Daniel Thank You for such kind words My Dad’s name was Viktor too and he instilled in me the tinkering gene so I named my shop so. Thanks for the nice comment 🙌
Amazing video. Thank you for sharing; so many great tips on how to improve my leather work.
I appreciate the kind words and I’m glad it was helpful for you B Hepburn🙌
Thanks EJ Just getting outta my comfort zone with this new venture🤙
Great info George ! I always struggle with setting/removing these. Really helpful tips, Thanks !
Thank you Fred. Your positive comments are appreciated 👍
Great video. I’ve struggled with getting consistent rivets. The washer technique is a game changer. Thank you
I recently learned how to respond directly to comments so I wanted to come back and thank you for the kind words. Glad it’s helpful
extremely informative, not long-winded, to the point. Real value. Thank you for making this video.
I appreciate the nod and the time you took to say so 🤙
Great video George. This was very helpful and I’ll order the proper tooling to create those nice rivets. You’ve done an awesome presentation! Keep up those videos. A lot to learn from you.
Really enjoyed the video. More infinitive than most. Thanks. Have a blessed day and keep up the good work.
Thank you Michael! I appreciate your kind words and the time you took to comment 👍
Excellent video George. I’d like to get the upgraded version of the setters. Do you have a link you can share for those setters?
Great video!
Thanks for the visit
You are an excellent instructor. Thanks
How I missed your kind words I’ll never know, but I’m very appreciative Thanks John!
Very helpful content, and great job on a first video!
Hello Britt Sorry I missed your kind message I sincerely appreciate this
Thank you Dustin!!
I appreciate that you took the time to tell me it was helpful Thank you
Wonderful video. I will be waiting for more. I really like the idea of predoming the rivets. Any ideas where I could pick up a similar stage block? Buckle guy also sells those rivet sets. I did purchase my first set from Douglas though. His are extremely well made. Thanks again!
I think it’s a dapping block. They’re available at Harbor Freight, Etsy and Amazon.
Great video, glad to have more information.
Try turning your auto focus off.
Sorry for not replying to your kind words and suggestion. I somehow missed it, but I appreciate it
Thanks Shawn That info is appreciated because I’m still learning and it’s feedback like this that is helpful to me
Great video and super informative. Thanks.
I very much appreciate you watching and taking a moment to say so!! Thank you Bob
I wish my brother George was here
Where do you purchase the rivet tools? I would appreciate the input. Your video is wonderful. Thank you.
Hello Kathy Thanks for the kind words. There are a few sources out there but the best value for these I’ve found is from
buckleguy.com
Well Agar This is a treat for me especially from a talented Maker like yourself Love your work !! Seriously made my day Thank you and I plan on improving this new thing😂
Just found this video. Great instructions - thank you! I also want to buy (invest) in proper tools and have been searching the Internet for the 3 pcs kit shown in your video. Seems like I can only find them in the US, which is a bit of a bummer since I live in Europe. Do you, by any chance know of any supplier here?
Thanks for the kind words and I’m sorry that these three piece setters are so hard to source in Europe. I do not know if anyone there who sells these but I know there are a lot of leatherworkers in Europe The lowest price setters I’ve found with good quality is buckleguy.com here in America
Great content as usual! I enjoy learning all the tricks of the trade my friend!
Thanks Greg. I’ll try to do that for ya.
I really like the video, learned a lot. Could you show doing it with thick leather folded like a holster or knife sheath? I have bent a few using that tool on #9 rivets.
Thank you Woozman! If I understand your question I think by setting it on the edge of an anvil and even having someone holding it level and flat while you set the burr.
What a fine video. I learn so much in such a short time. I would request that you offer suggestions for sources for tools and supplies you use. Thanks for sharing your talent and wisdom.
Exactly the kind of feedback I need. Thank you so much for the suggestion and the kind words
Thanks Robert. Yes Rio Grande Jewelry Supply out of New Mexico!!!
Thank you🙌
Thank you so much Tim Means a lot from you my friend!
Thank you for the most helpful setting video!
What brand are the 3 piece setters you have at the start of the video?
Thank you Leah for the kind words Currently those 3pc setter tools are available thru rmleathersupply.com (Rocky Mountain) and thru buckleguy.com I believe buckleguy has the size 9 setters as does rmleather but their pricing is far apart not sure why tho Mine came from Douglas Tools years ago The size 14 3pc setters are harder to find but I’ve seen em at the SW Leathercrafters Trade Shows (AZ - TX - WY and Europe) Good luck
Haha Thanks Brent. 🙌
Awesome Tutorial Sir! Thank you
A nice way to start my day with kind words from you. Thank you Bea
Really good video! I especially like the pre-domed textured and buffed look. Going to have to try that.
I noticed that you strike the setter with a metal hammer. I was told that it would mushroom your tools. Is that not the case with those setters?
Thank you David!
Great techniques, thanks
Great video! Appreciate you sharing this
Really enjoyed your video, great information. I’ve looked for the setters a few times in the past because the rectangle setter always seems to leave a mark in the leather. Any suggestions as to where we can find them?
I used the old style setter 30 years ago and have tried to avoid copper rivets. Now I may have to get a set of setters so I can up my quality of work.
Thanks Jonathan! It’s really amazing how much easier it is to set great rivets with those. How did we not think of that 30 years ago😂 Appreciate your comments
I almost skipped this, since “I know how to do rivets”. So glad I didn’t!
Thank you very much Scott! Im glad you stopped by too. This made my day🙌
where did you get that cool little compass on your watch?
and tool source?
Thanks IV Vitality The watch compass is from Clothing Sales on any Military PX or BX Might be available online or at military surplus. The tools are available at @buckleguy.com
Do you have a source for the rivet tools? Fantastic videos on you channel!!
Thanks for the kind words Troy! The best source I’ve found is at buckleguy.com If you’re located in Arizona, Texas or Wyoming there is a large vendors trade show every year. Look up Southwest Leatherworkers Trade Show Hope this helps
Thank you!!@@viktorgeorge9144
Where do you get these metal and round anvils?
@@thomaschetney990 Most larger cities have an industrial metal supply where they sell any size, shape and thickness of steel / aluminum materials
George, where did you get the river doming tools? I would like to get a similar set. Thanks.
buckleguy.com
Best I’ve found for a great price
Perfect 👍 ❤
Thanks for the 👍 Charlotte It’s appreciated!
Can you recommend a supply source for tools and blocks that you use in this video ❓
Tks
Absolutely!
riogrande.com
buckleguy.com
I am amazed that you use a metal hammer on your good Douglas tools., Take a look at the copper rivet video made by El Paso Saddlery for an excellent example of what happens to those beautiful tools when struck with a steel hammer. PLEASE use a rawhide or poly maul or mallet and save the life of those good tools.
You are 100% correct, however I failed to mention I’m using a soft brass hammer I see how that was a concern and I appreciate the input
@@viktorgeorge9144 Thanks for relieving my mind! I just knew you wouldn't be doing that!
I too have always cringed at seeing steel tools mushroomed over😂 Thanks again
Can you please add information links for the tooling? ❤
The best source I’ve found for these copper rivet setters is from buckleguy.com Thank you George for watching
Close ups need 2 be closer 2 show more detail of finished product very informative however thank you enjoy your vids
Sincerely appreciate the feedback Gerald I agree with that completely. This was my first YT video and I realized afterwards that my camera settings were on auto focus which was distracting. Learning daily Thanks again
do you have a link to your rivet setting tools?
Buckleguy.com
Where can I purchase one of those round anvils?
Check with your local industrial metal supply they have a large assortment of round or square hunks of metal. Mine is an old elevator counterweight
@@viktorgeorge9144 Thank you very much, Sir.
What are the setters you are using? Can you share purchase info? Will the smallest still be too large for 16 ga wire rivet head?
buckleguy.com is where you can find these three piece copper rivet setters See what they have available In not sure if the smallest setters (size 14) would work but I’m guessing they would
where do we get those tools??
Try Buckleguy.com
Where do we buy this tool 3 pack
The best source I have for you is buckleguy.com
Thanks Keith. That was so nice to hear Check out my new tips/hacks videos I recently posted They are as unorthodox as it gets😂
Clean your brass rivets heads with BRASSO CLEANS BRASS BETTER THAN ANYTHING !
You’re right Scott Love brasso wool in the can Thanks my friend
Are you on Facebook or Instagram gram?
On Instagram @viktorgeorgeleathergoods

The number 9 copper rivet setters can be purchased at buckkeguy.com Those will set the size 12 also but the size 14 rivets require its own size specific setters which are hard to find unfortunately
Thank you. Riveting small copper wire rivets I just am not getting the rivet edges smooth.
after starting leather work when I was a kid, 50yrs ago, I have never heard of doming. I always hated the edge that was left doing the copper rivets. You can teach an old dog new tricks, now to find the new tool, any suggestions?
Hello Seymour First off thanks for the kind words. You’ve made my morning The dapping blocks are easily found at most jewelry supply houses and the three piece setter tools at buckleguy.com or Douglas Tools Thanks again
@@viktorgeorge9144 thanks
Very useful information. Thank you
I always appreciate the time one takes to comment so kindly. Thank you William
