The magnet is brilliant and thanks to a quick Amazon delivery I had it up and cutting holes right away. My hands no longer have to fight with a hole punch, and that is game-changing. Thank you!
Hello Amanda. It's good you finally got to use your press. I'm working on designing a new range of adapters to use this press with leatherwork tools and they will be available in the coming weeks.
Great ideas. So glad I bought one of these presses from Harbor Freight, originally to make coin rings. Now that I do leather mostly, this will come in quite handy.

I just bought a similar press and was looking for a video on arbor presses. I chose this one first and am very pleased that I did. Fantastic ideas that i will definitely be using . Wish I watched this before buying a rivet press! Thanks very much.
Thank you for demonstrating the versatility of the arbor press. I have been doing leather work for several months, and recently got a makers mark stamp made. I think this is the ticket for a good stamp.
ugh, I wish i had seen this prior to purchase of the red tandy press. i like using it but limited in use beyond the attachments that cost an arm and a leg. still going to buy another press like yours for die cutting purposes. Thanks for this, I was going back and forth between Tandy's hand press and this Arbor press and your review with the magnet and plate addition was really helpful in me making my decision.
Geordie Leather Quick question, did you actually use an N52 neodymium rare earth magnet in your video which is what you’re linking to? I ask because the one you linked to is meant to lift 200-250 pounds and would absolutely crush your finger flat if it got between the magnets and the press, it may also magnetize the press over time.
Hi. This video was made a long time ago. If the original magnet linked to is no longer available, Amazon will normally show you something it thinks is similar. I have no control over what Amazon shows you. All I can say is that lots of people have bought the magnet linked to in their country and nobody has mentioned any problems. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Thanks! I need a press for a larger stamp, but have been delaying purchasing one because “its only needed for this one project…” but now I see it may become one of mg main tools!
Arbor presses are wonderfully useful in ways slow hydraulic presses cannot match. i buy mine used for much less than new and the big heavy ones often go cheap. A visit to your local steel supplier may yield cheap leftovers from cutting for previous customers and should you choose to fab more shop equipment like an arbor press stand (for which you can cut the pieces than have a welder finish weld if you do not weld) it's worth learning your local metal supply options.
Well done. I’ve seen other videos on this, but yours totally sold me on it. Harbor Freight has them for under $60. Going to pick one up today. Thanks for really diving into the usage! 🙂👍
Hi Geordie, I've already commented on this video before, but I just can't get over what a game changer it has been. I'm having so much fun playing with different tools that I can use with it, and how much easier it is to install rivets and snaps and punch holes and use it for pricking irons. It works with everything I've got and I'm just so excited. Thank you so so much for sharing this wonderful gadget for leather work❣️
Thanks, I knew I wanted something like this so I can stop using the rawhide mallet for everything, but I wasn't sure about the basics of the press, like whether the plate was removable, or how to attach punches to it. Cheers!
Thank you so so much! I’ve been wanting to do leather and biothane (vegan leather, pvc coated nylon) dog and horse collars and leads and not wanting to make a major investment on a rivet setter. This is brilliant.

Hi Geordie, I just found your video today and am glad I did. This one piece of equipment will save me money with the different things it can do. I sew and dabble with a little leather. I am wondering if this machine could be used to cut fabric for name tags for garment as well? I meant to ask, are you still making these videos? This one is 4 yrs ago, I hate to bother you if you are no longer doing these videos. I am from Detroit, Michigan. Love your videos
this was so helpful!! I have an arbor press that I never even considered using for leatherwork, and a bunch of shape dies that I've unsuccessfully tried to us with a hammer.... just combined the two using your magnet idea and it works brilliantly!
YOU are the brilliant one! Thank you for demonstrating the sheer number of incredibly helpful applications for the arbor press. I did not realize the potential of this tool. Using the magnet and replacing steel plate with shape attached for stability are also fantastic. Thank you for your generosity in sharing such important knowledge to help many of us!
Geordie: I have seen others use a keyless drill chuck in the ram. (If the ram has a hole drilled in it and a set screw) My press has a hole drilled in it so I am looking for a cheap chuck. The keyless chuck would eliminate the magnet and hold the tool more securely straight up and down. I still need to alter the steel plate I bought to be like yours. Adding the plastic key to the bottom. My workbench has a wood working hold-fast on the top. So, I mounted my arbor press on a thick piece of wood and can use the hold-fast to keep it from tipping forward.
Thanks alot for this video... I was looking at buying both and arbor press and rivit press you showed... That's saves me from buying that , when the arbor press doe it all ..
Great video! I researched modifications to my arbor press awhile ago, but with all the custom machine work to drill the hole and install a set screw, etc. the cost was more than the press! I gave up on that idea and bought a tabletop drill press to easily put my stamping tools in the chuck. Works great. Still, I would like to revisit this arbor press option now that I've seen your amazingly simple approach. It appears that Amazon has done some substituting on the U.S. link, because that magnet is nothing like the one you are using in the video. The spec's are totally different. It's GIANT and far too strong. People are having trouble getting it off their press! The U.K. link is also looks different, but the magnet has the same specs and size as yours except for the thickness which doesn't seem to be critical, so I thought I would see if I can order it from your suggested source in the U.K. If you haven't checked the link recently, would you mind pulling it up to see if that is, indeed, the correct magnet that I should order? I also have a question about the tools you were attaching to the magnet. Did you have to grind the ends flat so they would have a better surface to stick to the magnet? A lot of my tools have rounded ends on the handles. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. I really enjoyed all the demos of what can be done with the arbor press, all because of a little magnet. Genius!!!!!
Hello. Thanks for your detailed comment. This video was made some time ago and the original link to the recommended magnets may have changed since then. Amazon will suggest alternatives (I have no control over what they show people). I will look at the links again and update them, if I can. As for flattening tool ends. I haven't needed to do this with any of my tools.
The addition of the magnet is a stroke of genius that solves so many problems. Thanks!
I thought the same, but I will need to test it myself. I thought it would crack the magnet when he did it.
Thank you for your comment. I'm just clearing out my inbox of old comments, so there is no need to reply to this. Thanks. Geordie.

I have a arbour press and I think they are so good, the same as yours. Michael
Yes. It is a great machine.
Wonderful video! Just bought one from my work this evening for stamping but this video showed me how versatile it truly is! Cheers!
Have fun!
Thanks Geordie guy! I'm gonna get one! Sounds like a life changer! And the magnet!
Thank you so so much for sharing this wonderful gadget for leather work❣️
Hi. I'm really pleased you are getting the most out of this versatile tool. All the best for 2023!
Thanks, I knew I wanted something like this so I can stop using the rawhide mallet for everything, but I wasn't sure about the basics of the press, like whether the plate was removable, or how to attach punches to it. Cheers!
Bought the magnet. that is one serious magnet. great idea. also got arbor thanks for advice.

Thank you so so much! I’ve been wanting to do leather and biothane (vegan leather, pvc coated nylon) dog and horse collars and leads and not wanting to make a major investment on a rivet setter. This is brilliant.
Thank you for your comment on Geordie's UA-cam channel. Geordie has been away dealing with some health problems but is returning to UA-cam very soon with a brand new series of videos.
Good to hear.
This is the best teaching video I have seen on the Arbor press for leatherwork! Thank you very much for investing the time!
You're very welcome!
I always love watching your show I always learning about how good presses can be.
Thanks for your comments.
I can use that to cut handles for plastic bags. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Great idea!
You just saved me a ton of money. Great video! Love the demonstrations and the tips and tricks. Keep up the great work.

Thank you! The addition of the magnet will make all the difference! GREAT idea!

Very instructive. Thank you Geordie.
You're very welcome
YOU are the brilliant one! Thank you for demonstrating the sheer number of incredibly helpful applications for the arbor press. I did not realize the potential of this tool. Using the magnet and replacing steel plate with shape attached for stability are also fantastic. Thank you for your generosity in sharing such important knowledge to help many of us!
Glad it was helpful!
I've seen your video a couple of years ago and finally got mine today! can't wait too put it together tomorrow with the magnets. Thanks!
Have fun!
Interesting. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
@@HobbyBloxs Not my idea. Just sharing something I found on another channel. I have to measure my ram's hole and see if I can find a chuck that fits.
Thanks alot for this video... I was looking at buying both and arbor press and rivit press you showed... That's saves me from buying that , when the arbor press doe it all ..
Glad I could help
The perfect video! Thank you, so many great ideas for the press.
You’re welcome.
Well done. Love how neat and organized you are and appreciate the valuable tips and information. . Thank you for posting...🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your feedback.
I DEFINITELY learned something new. Thank you so much!
