This is absolutely amazing! More people need to do this! It really makes you realize how a day in 1968 could've just looked like a day in 2019. P.S. This will probably blow up from Reddit and/or YT recommendations
I would love to see a video like this at some period correct trackday, with a bunch of 50s/60s cars racing around, even maybe some parked in spectator areas, an then some random guy in his trackday 991 porsche comes along.
This is great. Thanks for your effort! What I want to know is where you found film that was still good and then where the heck you were able to develop it.
I can't wait for all of the comments asking why this was in their recommendation. Or shit, take it further and wait for the comments saying, "anyone watching in 2024?".
ASE Heavy Industries using a super 8 yeah it’s dope but the film is very expense to develop like a 100 but worth it cheap to buy but only can get 2 1/2 mins of film maybe
We’re still here, not in recommended yet, ugh, I know it will happen! All of us real film geeks, or auto enthusiasts, which I am both of, are actually watching this, we need to wait for all the random people who have this in their recommendations, then it will blow up, and hopefully help our communities out at least a little...

It's awesome how such a camera can make it feel like everything is nostalgic and in the time of legendary racers.
I can show this to my kids and say I remember these days.
The contrast of seeing this old looking footage with modern cars going around is surreal. Fantastic work!

The world used to be black and white until someone invented color in the 50s
@@Sinnsanity but, but what about paintings?!

Pure art. The video, the audio, every take and shake of the camera. Bravo just bravo!!!
A 3 1/2 minute masterpiece of automotive artwork.....
Well done Sir.....well done.
this is 3min and 27 seconds of pure art
It's fantastic how these old cameras really caught the emotion of the moment.
The feels never left. We were just arrogant to believe the word “classic” can only be used once in a time line.
It great to stumble upon sth like this before it appears on recommended and still with only 113 comments

This is the best thing I've seen in quite a while!
Thanks Nick! What an amazing piece of work! Incredible how you captured the "Pathe News" feel of the moment. Cheers!
Still better quality footage than most phones from between 2007-2012
This is magical man... MAGICAL! Thank you.
I love how old and classy it looks until a blue sports car jets by at 200 mph
GT40s and 917s have been around for a while....
Really cool idea, gives a nostalgic vibe. reminds me of old top gear documentary footage.
This is so surreal
This is mesmerizing
This is excellent.
Man you’re getting featured in articles. Just wait a few days, your channel will blow up. Nice job!
Brilliant! Well done!
Was sent here from drive tube posting about it. This is an awesome idea, I'm sure we will see it happen more often now.
This is a fantastic concept; you should make a whole series. I'd watch them again and again!
I feel nostalgia for something I didn't even do
This is art
I'd love to bring a camera like this to the GM Warren Tech Center. Everything there is straight from the 50s and 60s and still looks that way.
Found this courtesy of Jalopnik. It's brilliant!
Someday in the future, looking back to old car videos 😆👌👍
This was really cool
Man, this is incredible!
Here before it blows up 🧡

Nick, Jalopnik has a article about this video.
Why is this hd ? Did hd exist in the 60's
Here before this gets famous then recommended to uber stardom six years after it was initially uploaded
This is so effing rad. 👍
already shared by drivetribe, gj! was really cool to watch
This is amazing
Source of the audio?
JonathanDP81 it’s from a 1952 video about the Indy 500
Very nice. Upvoted it on reddit but wanted to like it on here too. Can't wait for this video to randomly get recommended and get a few million views.
So this is how Redditors look like.
Ok but how did you get your hands on a 1968 video camera?

What I want to know is where you found film that was still good and then where the heck you were able to develop it.
Ryan Farabough thanks! Super8 film is still sold by Kodak and I get mine developed by sending it to Cinelab in Massachusetts
Thank you reddit for this gem
Awesome ... if you wouldn't mind divulging ... how much did it cost you to develop the film?
greenerpasturesny I used Cinelab, who charges $45 per film roll for developing, scanning to 1080p, and sending back a positive for projecting
Super 8 film is on its own level.
I wish I had a super 8 camera.

This is great. Thanks for uploading this to the UA-cams.
Its sometimes weird to look at those modern cars in a video quality from the 1960s
Rahul Roy yeah, makes our world look not different from world in 60s.
This is brilliant !!!
very cool
Looks super WARM and ANALOG.
My brain hurts.trying to process this. Wow.
This is art. I demand a super 8 filter for all digital videos going forward.
Needs more views. This is epic!

Is that a Notch? (middle left)
Dude, this is sick!
Is it possible to get this LUT or filter? Also w/ the sound? It would be cool to use for my NY drone vid.
Anthony A no filters here, this was all shot on film
@@NickShirrell I know but if we can have the effects package we can make Any footage look like this.
Could i use this to make an edit? Its just perfection. Will obviously give credit to you and link up your account :)

Bro this looks super cool
I wanted to do this, I have the camera, but can't find anywhere that will develop this format. How did you get yours done?
coreydouglas1 I get mine developed and scanned at Cinelab in Massachusetts. Alternatively there’s also a company called Pro8mm
@@NickShirrell thanks so much!
the camera moves like the car is going over 200mph and its trying to keep it in frame.

I wonder how someone from the 60s would react to, say, a 2019 Mustang GT. Or an LC 500.

Now, if someone finds a WWII-era camera, a footage of current day things, edited and narrated as a war propaganda, would be awesome
He should have spoken in an old-time high-pitched radio voice so his speech would record better
