Couldn't agree more. The dialog itself is so exceptionally on point to their goal I feel like they ripped it off of an old video and added their shots to match.
OMG dude where were you? I was at this race filming a pit stop in with the exact opposite of the camera you were using on the same day. That's crazy I wish I woulda knew.... On top of that the car you show at the 50sec Mark was the car that I shot a pit stop in slow motion of, that's crazy what's a coincidence?!?!.
As an advertising creative who has tried like hell for years to find a voice artist who can nail that vintage sports announcer enunciation, pacing and tone, I'm guessing the voiceovers here are authentic audio pulled from old films then matched to the magnificent visuals you've captured. Brilliant work!
I've worked there in the past as a still photographer for a friend's race team. I work purely in digital where filters can be applied to simulate the look and feel of old film stock but there's nothing like the real thing I guess.
Please do more, this is awesome. Maybe come to Europe next year for goodwood, 24h nurburgring or le mans. I think that would be awesome in this vintage style
Man! As a filmmaker working with 16mm bolex H16 and a longtime F1 and Motorsport fan, this was a joy to watch. Incredible job putting it all together. Awesome!
So beautiful from a beautiful era, when filming was genuine with true human touch (only) to producing detailed and illustrative videos...gone are those good ol' days when people had morals and made babies instead o wars !!! Thank you Nick !!! Am subscribed after the first 10 seconds for you to keep producing these gems...
Oz Kittyboi I designed the Blipshift shirt from a little while ago of the Lancia Stratos jumping into the moon if you saw that. There’s a good group over at Blipshift
that's amazing. honestly. i imagine even a little family party recording, would make it look like it's from the late 60s, even if everyone is sitting with their smartphones
From a guy a bit older than the camera and born and partially raised in Wisconsin, this is awesome. Would be great if you could add the audio track details in the info box.
This is so fantastic. What would have made it perfect is if it started with the countdown and the quick frame of a woman (followed by the whole class laughing) and the sound of squealing tires with a "Watch out now!" comment
It will look awesome, and I would like to watch it. However, the cars' design and liveries are two very big giveaways of the period of the video (That kills a bit of the video's purpose)
Yes - very familiar look and style of shot, the pans, the zooms - but my dad was a little better at steady hands - don't forget how heavy those cameras where. Given how expensive the film and processing was, you do your best! Excellent commentary voice and accent.
The audio adds soooo much. I really love this project!
Couldn't agree more. The dialog itself is so exceptionally on point to their goal I feel like they ripped it off of an old video and added their shots to match.
what makes this so cool is not just the "announcer" voice-over, but the dialog of that announcing sounds authentically "dated"...
bravo!

Warped Perception crazy, I was around on Saturday and Sunday filming all over

My thougts exactly! I'm curious about the original film they took this from.
That’s correct! A combination of audio from a 1958 SCCA race and the 1963 Road America 500
@@NickShirrell Absolutely awesome! You did a brilliant job of matching it with the video.
The world seemed less manipulated in the analog days. Nice film and narration is spot on. Groovy.
This is incredible! It's amazing how a camera and film can make such a difference to the atmosphere of an event!

Dude, you NEED to go to the NASCAR Throwback race at Darlington this year with this camera. That would be absolutely amazing to watch
I think they did something like that a little while back
Agreed
Super 8 gives everything it touches a feel of gorgeous nostalgia. This was wonderful to watch.
Love this! The period-correct narration was a great idea. The lower frame rate makes the cars look even faster, too.
Oh man please do more! I saw your track day super 8 film as well and loved it
I don't like motor sports, but this is outstanding!!
As someone how loves watching old racing footage (from the 30's to the 70's) and Indycar, this is such a creative and well put together video.
I came from reddit lol
But its pretty cool nice job u just earned a sub
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
One of the best things I have seen in ages. It really brings back memories.
I love seeing the vintage cars next to the new cars. So cool.
This is kind of amazing. The vintage style makes it much more interesting. Love it
Loved this video. Please come to Indy and do this agian. Heck go to ANY IndyCar race.
Please do more, this is awesome. Maybe come to Europe next year for goodwood, 24h nurburgring or le mans. I think that would be awesome in this vintage style
I like the different perspectives and think this medium gives more impression of the actual speed of these cars than modern cameras does.
This is super cool and amazing!
A perfect combo of nostalgia and modern.
Man! As a filmmaker working with 16mm bolex H16 and a longtime F1 and Motorsport fan, this was a joy to watch. Incredible job putting it all together. Awesome!
Stunning. Love the announcers and editing.
this couldnt be any better.
Outstanding work

Thank you Nick !!!

These super 8 videos are awesome
It feels weird to see modern cars on what is clearly an old ass video, nicely done
Okay, credit where credit is due. Coolest idea I've seen all year in motorsports edits. Well done.
There was a guy who took pictures at an F1 race with a 90s Gameboy camera
Blipshift sent me here, and you surely did not disappoint! Classic filmography take on a modern Indycar is a beautiful idea
Oz Kittyboi I designed the Blipshift shirt from a little while ago of the Lancia Stratos jumping into the moon if you saw that. There’s a good group over at Blipshift
Brilliant retro production
This is something very special indeed. Love it. Keep up the great work.
Amazing film. The formal, descriptive narrative really harks back to the mystery and awe surrounding early motor racing. Great!
Incredible work!
So Fantastic!!
This is the coolest thing I have watched all of 2019, thank you for taking all the time to film and edit this. The narration is fantastic. ❤
This was fun to watch. Nice work, Nick!
This was really well done!

I absolutely love this. I hope this stuff blows up big time with it being shared on social media and auto sites
You just gained a follower for this masterpiece!
Just saw this on reddit. So glad I did cos this is great
I love this just as much as old movies on BluRay and 4K. It's just so curious 🙃
Honestly any old school recording of even modern race will make it cool and better.
Amazing work. Mad respect for you.
I'm certain my wife and I are in the shot of the fans on the hill just north of the Corvette bridge. This is really, really cool! Awesome work!
That was awesome, Nick. Great job!
Now I have to watch Le Mans & Grand Prix movies tonight.
Good
that's amazing. honestly. i imagine even a little family party recording, would make it look like it's from the late 60s, even if everyone is sitting with their smartphones
Great video!
From a guy a bit older than the camera and born and partially raised in Wisconsin, this is awesome. Would be great if you could add the audio track details in the info box.
LOL! I can't believe this attention to detail. Fantastic!
Brilliant editing. Well done!

Great video man. The retro commentating is aeesome.
This is so fantastic. What would have made it perfect is if it started with the countdown and the quick frame of a woman (followed by the whole class laughing) and the sound of squealing tires with a "Watch out now!" comment
Amazing work, changing the whole experience!
awesome!
Looking forward to the F1 version if you will ever make one!
It will look awesome, and I would like to watch it.
However, the cars' design and liveries are two very big giveaways of the period of the video (That kills a bit of the video's purpose)
Lol I was at this race too, it was crazy. Probably the most 3 days I look forward too besides Indy 500
Awesome work, love it!

Yes - very familiar look and style of shot, the pans, the zooms - but my dad was a little better at steady hands - don't forget how heavy those cameras where. Given how expensive the film and processing was, you do your best! Excellent commentary voice and accent.
Whomever did the narrating deserves some sort of award.
So good!
Amazing!
I can still feel the 60s era despite the modern day vehicle's appearance!
This is awesome
