With an atv, it's really more about traction than power. Of course power does matter, but even a small 250cc 4x4 will push snow just fine, as long as you're getting good traction. I added diamond style v-bar tire chains to the rear tires on my Grizzly, this thing is absolutely impressive now when it comes to pushing snow. Now I can simply drive up to a large heavy mound of snow, stop in front of it, drop the blade and power right through it without a problem... I mean, I'm talking piles of snow I would've had to approach with plenty of speed before in order to even have a chance of moving them, let alone pushing them for long distances. I can slow down to a dead stop, and then speed up again without spinning the tires, even up a grade if need be.. I highly recommend atv tire chains to anybody having traction issues, they really are amazing!
When these stock Dunlop tires (from 1994) finally go bald, I'm going to put some big-horn style SXS tires on. 3 years plowing with this thing and it handles it all!
True. I got tired of getting stuck or spinning tires on the snow so I purchased some tracks for the sportman. Can go through 2 + feet of snow. It's like a snowmobile with a plow.
Can you tell me the exact model plow you used, to interchange with this warn mount kit. I ordered the warn 37842 mount, but not sure what plow base works with this. I heard you say tusk plow but was wandering if there was a specific model you used or another plow base tube that will work with the warn mount.
Yeah e-bay is 99% of what I use for used stuff... the same basic KQ300 was from 1987 up to 2003 , and the ArcticCat 300 is the same machine mechanically other than the rear suspension setup.
Hey man! Great build and nice machine. I am about to add a fan to my KQ300. I wanted to run a toggle switch off of the ignition similar to what you did with the lights on yours. I am electrically retarded. Can you explain why you created a jumper on the ground? Why not just ground to the frame? Thank in advance for the help!
One less ground to chase later. I typically piggy-back grounds to a known ground just to keep things cleaner/easier, but you can go direct to the frame if needed.
The Bulldog winch mount was was great to see! That’s step 1 before I get a plow!! I just got a 95 KQ 300 last weekend. Thanks for posting this!!🏆
agreed best quad ever made!!
i have a 1994 300 amazing little tank of a quad pulls like a transport truck
Very cool machine and doing a great job on the snow! 👍
Thanks 👍

It's a Tusk "City Slicker" I don't think they make it anymore, it's 48" wide.
Can you still get parts for that king quad?
engine/mechanical stuff yes - but trim and plastics not so much.
eBay is ur bestfriend when searching parts for these Quads. Good luck

awesome!
I want!
i plow with a timberwolf 250 does just fine so a 300 would be even better i bet, i prefer the manual handle over a winch though is faster
Very nice 👍
