  • We got a call for a disabled jeep on the other side of Hurrah Pass. So we jumped in Ol Blue and headed out. We got to the jeep and hooked it up fairly smoothly. After coming over the mountain and heading back down we had an issue with the jeep sliding off the sling, which led to a bent fender on the towed vehicle (which resorted in me not charging the customer.) After we stopped and addressed that we went to start the wrecker and the starter broke. So we called Shawn to come save us. Which then he had a flat tire on the white dodge. Mike and I hiked down to help him change it. Then we loaded the jeep on the trailer and got it to the customer. The next morning we ran in with a new starter and got Ol Blue back up and running. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Anyone criticizing the rescue of that trunk needs to explain how "leaving it there" was better for the environment and natural beauty. Sometimes a situation requires the least bad choice. That was one of my favorite videos on this channel, particularly due to the difficulty.

A local rancher saw him and didn't help, said his livestock were his only concern. The guy had some health issues and tried to walk home. The next day they had a bunch of search parties looking for him, he was found a week or so later, died less than 1/2 mile from his house.

Shawn brought the Dodge out with the overland trailer to pickup the Jeep, but he got a flat on it and couldn't find the lug wrench so hear we go with the Old VGG SPECIAL TOOL Vice Grips! So I had to swap a rear tire to the front and then put the spare on the rear. I did have jack and wrench, but what a PITA. Picked him (and quad).. halfway back to camp lost another tire. Thankfully after a number of hours somebody gave us a ride back to camp so we could regroup and figure it out.

Man it sicked that both Blue and the white truck have a break down on this recovery One with what sounded like a started issue and one with a Flat. When it rains it pours. You guys seems to be hitting a string of bad luck lately with your rigs both your personal rigs and the ones for the company. Really hope it turns around for you guys soon.

That’s one of those days, if you didn’t have bad luck you wouldn’t have any luck at all!

I had a 1964 1-ton Chevy with an in-line 6, manual 3-speed school bus engine/transmission. It was set up with duallies and would climb a tree if it kept traction. I hauled firewood with it in Indiana. Like Blue, it had leaf spring bed levellers (overloads). I often loaded it with wet logs, piled way above the cab and tied them down with straps. With that load, it would settle nicely on the levellers and be happy as a clam. Thx for the memory.

You guys are the real deal, remind me of my co workers from the pipefitting trade. Our surroundings were not quite as scenic as yours but being 300 foot up on a blast furnace overlooking Lake Michigan has its own merit. You have a great crew and your videographer does an outstanding job. As always what I want to view closer he zooms in or changes camera viewpoint and angle. He is a craftsman and an artist. Love to see you stick welding as all the broken stuff has no penetration into the parent metal of the attachment Maybe a first pass of some 6010 might at least help to burn in over the grease and rust. Of course field repairs are maybe by nature less than permanent. A few possibly unwelcome safety issues have been observed wear some sleeves while welding (bare foot?) Yep it was an homage. Sugary drinks can maybe put you on your way to diabetes. You guys are the salt of the earth hope you all prosper and have a long and joyous life. You have by way of your video productions made visible what these trails through these unbelievable Utah vistas unfold. Thanks for all you do.

People say Friday the 13th is bad luck, but I've never had a Friday 13th beat my average Monday. Another display of why you don't care for slinging vehicles on the trails. Stuff happens, own it & move on attitude usually gets the problem solved. Always good content from Rory & the crew. Thanks for sharing

I love old blue. What a dream rig for your fleet. And the high torque starter should help a lot.

That recovery went like one of my plumbing projects. Shawn needs to be made to sit in a corner and read the owners manual of all the shop vehicles so he knows how to change tires without the use of vise grips. Lol. You guys never give up though, 3 men after my own heart, make it happen. ALWAYS! Great job.

I added helper springs on my tow vehicle. They're set loose enough for everyday driving but do their job when attaching the trailer. No fuss.
On my last trip, everything looked good when I left the last gas station on the way home. Arriving home, the clamp on one of the safety chains was missing and the part of the chain dragging on the ground was now a different gauge thickness. Chet happens.

The only advantages to changing the starter the next day is that the engine is cold and the frustration level has subsided some. Good videos.
