- Went in to the Cliffhanger Trail to repair the steering gear box on one jeep and drive it out. Then we carried the other jeep out with a broken steering knuckle. Thank you everyone for the support and watching.

I started to watch this video again by accident and realised I had watched it before, but I still watched right through. This I don't do with anyone else's videos.
There are some very pretty and, hopefully, capable new machines out there, but Trail Mater is not really pretty, she is beautiful. I also realised that Rory and Trail Mater literally become one entity, which is why you are so damned great at what you do.
Still my number one go to channel every time I fire up UA-cam. Keep up the great work Gents.
Matt's Off Road Wrecker Challenge should be something like this. Well done.
I continue to say it's so AMAZING to see how easily and calmly you motor over all these really difficult obstacles that others demolish their rides trying to pass; repair, replace, or weld their broken equipment; and drive or drag them out seemingly easily. You have tremendous skills and knowledge; and it is really fun watching!
Aptly said !!!
it takes intelligence to understand that there are better alternatives to the knuckle-dragging simple-minded brute force option: play it smart, still have fun, break no hardware and neither the bank ... Sir Rory is a master, but many people don't get it! 🖖🖖🖖
Rory and Mater are Superheroes!
I could not agree more, I am in total awe just watching the videos of insane machines scrambling around incredible obstacles. Thank you all.
I'd love to see him wear a pulse rate monitor - I reckon his heart would barely get off idle..... Amazing skills. Very impressive stuff.
Diamond Bill Rock Pecker. Definitely a protected species here in Southern Utah. They prefer the soft rocks in our sandstone canyons.
That's what she said.
I'm pretty sure I know her
Yeah. I googled it 😂

We were just talking about the holes in the sandstone the other day and now I know the rest of the story.
I love that there is a burrito in the left hand while crawling up some stuff that most people wouldn't even think of driving up.
My hat's off to Shawn for having the guts to ride those trails in a towed vehicle. At least he knows he's in good hands with Rory pulling him. Loved Mike's Diamond-Billed Rockpecker story. 😄
Rory is one of the best, if not the best drivers I have ever seen
"THE DIAMOND BILL ROCK PECKERS "....
PRICELESS...!!!!
I had to rewind a couple of times to make sure I heard that right....👍👍👍👍👍
King of off road recovery. Hands down. Living in Moab helps a bit. Hats off.
"Luckily Jeep engineered this knuckle to snap... This is all sarcasm, and I hate Jeep for switching to aluminum knuckles for absolutely no reason other than to complicate things to make things cheaper and cheaper."
EPIC STATEMENT! Agree 100%
Right or wrong, the switch to making it out of aluminum was likely less about making it cheaper and likely more about making it lighter. Unsprung weight is the enemy of suspension systems on road.
Jeep=Junk Each and Every Part🤣
@@sheepwolf1st Exactly! 🤪😂🤣
@@sheepwolf1st Everything is junk when it’s broke🤣🤣🤣
@@darrenmcdonald3319 so I'm guessing that you wouldn't be a fan of having 1-TONs with RCVs, and double sheer hydro steering, rolling on 40's?
Jeep switched to aluminum knuckles for MPGs and they picked a stupid place to do it. The savings were trivial at the cost of strength.
A u-joint failure should not grenade an entire knuckle assembly. I've seen hundreds of blown axle u-joints and destroyed axle shafts in my life, but nothing like the carnage we see with aluminum knuckles as part of the equation.
What a great group of guys you got there Rory you are hands-down the recovery expert I hit thumbs up every time before I even watch the video.
Maybe you got here from the GOAT: Matt’s Off-Road Recovery.
@Tony Casto
Same here...😁👍👍
Me personally, here 1st, Matt 2nd, FabRats (Paul) 3rd. Oh well, I think I got all of my choice folks.
same here I always smash like button before I get into video so I don't forget
@@AZBEEMR i'll admit i did. I kept seeing that wrecker and had to see the madman who ran it...
Got to respect how Rory just casually drives up one handed eating his meal where you watch other videos and it's all drama love your work 👍
Rory's highly skilled multi -tasking = driving ONE HANDED over STEEP terrain , large rocks AND eating lunch ALL AT THE SAME TIME = recovery master !
He's absolutely amazing! Really knows his stuff!
Rory, in our house we think the world of you, Shaun has the cool factor everyone needs, we all need a Shaun lol
Rory you make that look so easy. The Capability of Mater and Rory as a driver is unmatched. Love the content. Keep it coming.
One of the most under-rated channels on UA-cam. Rory's personality, driving skills and mechanical skills are the best.
Rory, you are THE MAN !!!
Man... you own your own difficulty scale... it's way above others!!! 😎👍 Great ride along Thx👍
Have to admit, I always like watching the "bush" mechanic stuff... BUT the towed recoveries are epic. When Rory plugs his forever white tennis shoe into Trail mater, the two become one. Pretty much the last obstacle, sans winch cable, showed Rory and "mater" just on the edge of lifting the front, but not doing it. Probably "blowing up your skirt", but that is a damn master example of man and machine. The crew kicked ass too.
The camera was in an excellent position throughout the video-it showed your expertise at navigating the terrain, and wow-you’ve chosen your help well! 👏🏻👏🏻
Steering wheel in one hand and burrito 🌯 in the other! 😂 Great video as always!
Or was it a Hot Pocket?
It was food either way
@dady dad a Hot Pocket may require rest room facilities sooner than a burrito.
And at a greater urgency level,,,,
Just another day at the office for Roy and Towmater.
Credit where credit is due: Thank you for the subtitles/closed captions. Being hearing-impaired makes one feel like an "outsider" on a daily basis. With the captions, I feel like I am "one of the guys" along for the ride, right in the center of the action. Thanks again, brother . . . MUCH APPRECIATED!
“Diamond billed rock pecker”. Awesome. 😂😂. Nice Mike. Great bunch of guys unbelievably skilled and quick thinking and now comedy. Hard to believe but your videos keep getting better Rory. We don’t have that kinda terrain here in Manitoba Canada. Really do look forward to each video as I always learn something from them. Keep up the great work and be safe. 🇨🇦 fan
Being from up there u are pretty close to zip ties and biesplys
Whether they're coming down the edge of that cliff trail or up over the rocks the size of an old VW, Shawn is either the coolest cucumber in the basket or absolutely petrified!! What a team!!
Rory I give you guys credit you have to be fearless doing that job right along the edge of the cliff like it is no big deal.
I always know with your videos they will definitely be top quality and a lot of fun with you guys working together.
I love the commentary during the video. Your comment of so birds don't build a home made my night. That shows your personality which is a lot of fun. I respect that about you.
I hope we will be seeing Donkey more if possible that is an amazing machine.
Keep up the great work
Diamond Bill Rock Pecker. Broke me up.
Thank you for a great video.
I love that Rory’s idea of a side step is a iron stirrup for an iron horse!😁
This channel, Trail Mater, has to be the best off road wheeling videos of all time, bar none!!!!!
Amazing scenery!
Thanks Rory. I really like the introductions of the guys or gals you have with you. That is one thing I always liked about Fab Rats and MORR, it seems more like family and friends that are including us too. Great videos.
I know you guys work hard but appear to enjoy what you do, that is a great combination.
Diamond Bill Rock Pecker... That was AWESOME!
@24:25 , I wouldn't want to do that in just one vehicle , yet you Climb up towing a relatively new jeep avoiding further damage ! I'm Impressed ! Nice Job ! Sure Sign of a Professional at Work
My grandfather would tell me story's about when he was a professional diamond bill hunter. They never thought there would be an end there was just so many. Then one day, 💥 nothing!🤣
Tales from the past say there is a lost box canyon where the diamond bills went to die
i’m a mountain biker and i always see the jeeps struggling to get those features of cliffhanger…. to see you do it without a spotter and while towing is just impossible!!! 😂 love your channel man, hope to see you out on the trail sometime
…. a great showing of your knowledge/skill of these difficult trails!
Great stuff, Rory! Love the Saturday PM upload...forget the algorithm!
Amazing view
Thanks to you Rory and your team for taking time to film, and show your adventures, all the best
This was one of the most amazing haul outs I’ve seen you do!!!! You’re pretty gosh darn amazing Sir!!!!!!!!
I'm always amazed at Rory's gift of figuring things out and creating engineering solutions out of random pieces of metal, parts, and junk in his truck ... his gift is special for sure
Unbelievable Recoveries
Rory’s field repair skills are over the top!!!
Trailmater a garage on wheels. I swear you can make another rig with all you have on trailmater.
Another great video. Thanks.
Rescue Rory the “ Mayor of Moab” did it again. Boy you know you know Mater and the terrain. Skillz Brother, Skillz…
Rory you have the best team for sketchy Recoveries! Congratulations to your team!
of coarse another amazing video
The O'l Diamond Billed Rock Peckers again!!!
That's some damn good driving!
The amount of skill that Rory has driving Mater is insane! Great job!
You are one heck of a rock crawler, I watch you climb rocks forward and then backwards, These recoveries looked very difficult and I was holding my breath on some of those rocks but you and your crew did another successful rescue.
Rory's skills are legendary, and unquestioned, and the mighty TrailM8tr is world-class, but what I love is Rory's graciousness and humility. No trash-talking his companions and co-workers, like so many awful US TV shows, just getting the job done and treating the people around his as equals, and giving them credit where it's due. Working with you would be a pleasure, sir!
Hey, Rory, just a technical question, how would an electric-engined car go as a rock-crawler?
In regards to the electric-engine. Litebrite showed one on an east coast trail. It struggled because it had instant torque. There didn't appear to be a slow crawl mode. It looked like it could be crazy dangerous.
Love the off road repairs and a great display of technical driving as usual
Riding in the towed vehicle looks pretty wild good job it amazes me how capable trail mater is 👍definitely the right rig for the job
Excellent up load-- interesting content -edited to perfection -no gimmics -realtime footage and totally engaging . Thanks again .Jonny UK
You are the man, and that wrecker-- impressive doesn't do it justice..
That QuicCrete did the trick for the trail repair!
Rory knows these trails like the back of his hand.
This knocks the socks off of pulling razors out of sand hollow.
That was a real treat Rory, well done on a difficult bit of terrain, loved the longer video, more to get my teeth into, but I could watch your skills all day long. Sean is a star with testicles of stainless steel 👍👍👍👍
I shake my head all the time when I watch you and your crew retrieve rigs in areas that seem totally inaccessible.
Brings new meaning to the phrase" between a rock and a hard place".
Rory has an awesome team and they do an excellent job recovering and repairing the many Jeep's with parts made of aluminum instead of steel. Good job!
A guys, great day's work. Thank you for the view over the cliff and the valley below. I love it when you show the country side, that makes my day!
This recovery and the rollover jeep were the most fascinating I think I’ve seen. The problem solving and ingenuity held my attention from the incredible setting of the location. Thanks for sharing what you do, Rory! Your candid analysis about The technology was spot on.
the skill level it takes to drive that wrecker and tow something without slamming it against everything is amazing. You are one hell of a driver Rory! Keep on showing us this amazing landscape and impressive driving. I appreciate the extra effort you guys put in to show us everything!
"Diamond billed rock peckers"🤣 That is pure gold!!! I've watched a bunch of these rock crawling videos lately and I am totally amazed at the terrain you guys can take a motorized vehicle on. Mind boggling!! Shaun.. GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO!!!
The rock crawling while munching on a burrito was a nice touch.
That is some serious skill you got there Rory. Nice job.
The channel's growing every day Rory, with videos like this it is easy to see why. You guys are the best! Stay safe out there and God Bless.
"Diamond billed rock sucker" is a gut buster. Torqueometer pegged out again. What a skillful run again.
The Scenery is incredible and that Bronco does Extremely Well. Nice remote Rad and excellent Driver. Cliffside Rescue and Repair.!
Beware the Sidehill Gougers in Nevada... The Soft Shoe driver protects his equipment. On your days off (?) get a D9 up there and make some 'changes'. I don't know how that Rubicon got to where he was.
Wow it's amazing how these parts snap and break great video, always like the way Trailmater just motors along ,no 10 thousand rpm engine racing and tire spinning
loose sand and solid rock will eat just about anything
That’s a good touch you have at keeping it slow and easy while working your way over obstacles.
Rory, Real Heroes wear Moab Motorsport Recovery Shirts. God Bless
Those diamond bill rock suckers were watching your every move from those cliffs. I could see them!!
Shawn and Mike with Your Guidance has made this the main Banana.
Great control of the breakfast burrito in the driver hand while using the passenger side hand to control your rig 😂😂😂😂
That did imply confidence, even boredom.
Not your average tow truck and CERTAINLY not your average crew. Great job guys!
I am still amazed w/ your driving while towing a disabled vehicle.
Every jeep that rolls off assembly line keeps this guy in work ..😄😄😄😄
Great to meet the whole team Rory! What a great trail fix. Mike's endangered Diamond bill story was hilarious! You guys rock!
Hi Sean, Mike and Kenny... Rory too of course... your driving with a rig in tow never ceases to amaze me... applied physics to the tow job... GREAT team... Thanks for sharing
Doesn't get much technical than that, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time wow
It is always jaw dropping to watch you get them out Rory but this one was real tough. You always do an amazing job, and this time was no different. It was good to see the gang with you, it’s obvious you all work well together. Stay safe and above all else, stay awesome. Thank you.
Man that was an intense recovery, I was exhausted after watching! And the Diamond Billed Rock Pecker is EPIC!
that ability to have front rear or both drives is so cool. When Paul says he was going to do that to his fj I wondered why it would be needed. After watching you do these recoveries where a single vehicle can hardly pass and you do it pulling dead weight or mostly dead I see you need every tool and option one could add to a vehicle. One thing I really admire is all the like minded friends you have. Seeya next time.
I've had the pleasure of meeting you twice now and getting to see your beast of a truck.
I was the 76 bronco at the grand junction offroad show that did the dirt obstacle course right before you. 5.5 inch lift, 37s, and not a tough course really. I killed it twice and bent the rear bumper (so still a course most 4x4 couldn't make it through factory).
You picked up the wrecked "jump truck " and went through that course like it was nothing while towing another.
All of this to say, you really are a 4x4 recovery artist and make these already difficult obstacles look "not too bad".
You're doing it while towing another vehicle....amazing
Adjusting on the fly crawling through that trail is serious skill !
What an adventure- sure glad you took us along!
A good repair, then a great recovery. Who else would be driving over boulders along a cliff edge with one hand while eating a sandwich??? Thanks Rory and guys.
Thanks to you and Tha A Team, for another awesome video and recovery.
This was a real recovery. And a tow in of another. That Mater is one fine machine.
Driving up a cliff climbing over boulders driving with one hand with a burrito in the other, now that’s confidence. LOL. Great video.
Awesome!
Gotta be real good at multitasking when you got 3 rigs all hooked together going up over an obstacle! Great recoveries, great video!
Rory's wheelin' CliffHanger with a burrito in one hand, I love it! Nice to meet the whole crew. Wow Rory's got that geometry all figured out on those trails. That recovery turned into a real team effort. I'm lovin' the videography, great shooting! Does the scenery and the action justice. That Shawn is a real "hoot"!
Talk about a recovery!! This Off-Road-Recovery, Gives a whole new meaning to the terminology, Off-Road-“Technical Recovery”!!
Even through-out the most dicey, most technical part of the recovery, Shawn & Rory, stayed as cool as a cucumber!! 🥒
Throughout the endeavor! and both of them, without a doubt, endeavored, to persevere. Without a-doubt. Talk about absolutely outstanding!! Bravo! 👍 Bravo!! 👍
Every time I’m like that was a tough obstacle, the next one is even worse😂
You have come a long way in your camera work and you are actually talking to your audience! I hope you go back and watch the old stuff sometimes to see how far you've come!
