I've always had a respect for the Elites, either in the form of admiration when fighting alongside them or begrudging when fighting against them. At least until an Ultra one-shots me at full shields, that I just rage at. But I've always admired the Elites with their rich culture, philosophy, and ideology, and I always enjoy reading/listening to lore about them and how they've always held a sense of honor from the days before the Covenant, all the way to the Sangheili Civil War and to the mercenaries who joined the Banished. The Elites are easily my favorite species in Halo.
Elites have always been a fascinating species to me. Even before I learned more about them, then what you see in gameplay against them. Their sleek design, quick movements, and tall stature in Halo, 1, 2, 3 never fail to catch my eye (Halo Reach is pretty decent looking to even tho they look less sleek physically and armor wise they seem to keep a decent amount of their quick movements and tall stature going for them that I like. I do wish they were more sleek tho). Halo infinite is heading in the right direction lookwise for sure, but idk if I would go so far to say their armor makes them look sleek compared to Bungie's Elite design imo, but physically their more sleek tho which I do appreciate, it's much better than 343 previous brute looking, slow and lumbering Eiltes for sure.
Many Elites also questioned the prophets decree of extermination of humanity. As the war dragged on many warriors began to respect Human tenacity, resilience, and strength of spirit. Some calls to allow humans to join the Covenant were made albeit short lived after vicious responses by the Prophets.
Immediate favorire when i was a child, as a teen i thought they were the sci fi samurai and as an adult i love learning tid bits about their lore and how their civilization was pre and post war. A fascinating sci fi species , truly bungie made something special that stuck.
An Impressive Race of Great Warriors indeed. We can learn alot from them. May their Arbiters & their Banished continue to guide them through the deadliest tribulations in their March towards Glorious Purpose⚔️🔥🌹
You mentioned in this video countless civilisations the Covenant had wiped out in the search for relics, have we got any information on these wars? I always had the impression the war with humanity was the first time the Covenant had been truly tested militarily, and they struggled to maintain their supply lines - Balaho doesn't count. Might be worth a video looking into historic Covenant wars if you can find any info
hopefully if 343 didn't fuck up too badly for a sequel to Halo Infinite and we can see a return of allied Sangheili with the Swords of Sanghelios. I really want to see more representation from Sangheili that didn't side with Jul M'dama's Covenant or the Banished. hell, even hearing about fully Neutral Keeps and Colonies that want to make their own progress on their own without bothering anyone. one of the best things about the Sangheili in expanded lore is that they're not portrayed as a monolith, at least not in a post-covenant galaxy. not all Sangheili share the same views on how to move forward. sure the Banished offer immediate glory and wealth, but the Banished are functionally just a massive Bandit Kingdom, there's no real Future with the Banished I think. the Swords of Sanghelios and Thel Vadam offer a more longer lasting future for the Sangheili I feel. Thel wants the Sangheili to be Self-Sufficient. to make their own food and weapons and science. He feels the Sangheili have been too reliant on the Covenant and wants his people to be able to stand on their own. But he's aware of the shortcomings of the immediate situation and doesn't turn down aid from the Humans and still has Unggoy thralls and Kig'yar Mercenaries filling the gaps the Sangheili still have.
What would happen if an Ork Waaagh invades the Halo universe during the Human-Covenant War and more specifically with how either the Covenant or UNSC would deal with the threat of the Orks?
I've always what the reaction of an elite would be to medieval human cultures since there's so many parallels to their own. Like is there an Elite out there that is a massive weeb for Japanese culture that owns katana and say's shit like baka gaijin?
This is a video, where i wish there would be more *WORT* in it, but deep down in my heart i know... That this will be the detail-fetish kind of video and thus there will be no *WORT* in it. eh tabooey.
bro I love your videos, but you gotta figure out a way to make your voice less wet. every single aspect of your work I really like, it's literally the only flaw, keep up the good work 😁
Why is it that elite - and general covenant - body armour is so weak? Underneath / behind the shielding, their actual physical armour seems to fall to pieces when exposed to UNSC gunfire, whereas UNSC body armour can actually take shots and keep the wearer alive. The hunters being the obvious exception to this statement.
I... can think of a reason. Assuming you are fighting others with plasma weapons, and your shields break, you do NOT want to have hot pieces of armour securely fastened to your body. It will cause more damage if it does. So having it fall off under fire is, kind of safer. As for in general? It's very satisfying to shoot off bits of enemy armour. And game mechanics wise, a shielded enemy is already durable enough. Giving them a big health pool on top of that does not make a fun fight. Or multiple layers of helmet, looking at you halo infinite chieftains.
Canonically, it doesn't...unless you're a character in one of the books that has plot armor, I guess. On a serious note: In _The Flood,_ Chief is often described as aiming at their "exposed" (as in, unarmored) midriffs once the shields are gone, rather than the chest or head (though, when he does, the MA5B's .308AP rounds do punch right through; makes sense, it's AP, and it's going very fast). Truthfully, I feel that most Sangheili armor - especially the torso and limbs - harken back to times where melee combat was favored. Personal, honorable, _skillful._ Any _nishum_ can fire a gun, after all. _The Great Equalizer,_ as the humans say.
Projectile weapons stopped being a thing millennia ago in sanghili history and warfare. Energy defense was prioritized over protection against kinetic projectiles.
i always love elites, they are so cool! but my astartes enthusiast mind just wanna PURGE THE XENOS! for the Emperor, for Sanguinius, and for those we cherish!
How would you modify a thing that is part of a god? The flood isn't simply flesh. It is neural physics given form. If the Forerunners couldn't figure them out, how would humanity?
@@wallsofmine Flood is only one entity so all is an It. It is not a god but an advanced lifeform no matter how fancy all its tricks can be revealed by study for it operates in the same physical law as us humans. Reason gives all methods I need in time if one does not fall to prideful error or superstition.
Provided they don't open themselves to a lawsuit for copyright violation, I wanna see somebody do a few short vids (probably with AI): 1. The Chief and Johnson have taught a bunch of Sangheili refugees how to play basketball. The two teams square off with NBA style uniforms and "tennis shoes" etc. etc. Somebody drives hard in the paint and slam dunks hard enough that the backboard shatters and showers opposing team members in glass.Trash is talked and a fistfight/brawl breaks out. The Chief face-palms while Johnson furiously blows his whistle. It's a total shit-show. 2. Thel 'Vadam and Rtas 'Vadum are in a smoke filled Blues Bar/Club playing acoustic blues music. The Arbiter is the lead vocalist and has a guitar. Half-Jaw is backing him up with backing vocals and bass guitar or stand-up base. The lyrics are all appropriate to post-covenant Sangeheili society except for the chorus which says, among other things, "I'm your huckleberry." 3. A trio of low-ranking Elites get caught playing an FPS that's exclusive to the Sony Playstation. The Arbiter beats the living crap out of them while talking trash about their keeps, their families, and their disloyalty. 4. A female Sangheili has a cooking show and is wearing an utterly ridiculous white chef's hat on her head. A human studio audience is watching her enthusiastically talk about cuisine while she preps her spices and ingredients, etc. But then, she brings out the animal/creature that is going to be the "meat" of the dish and slaughters it fresh, right there. It's super violent and gory and blood and guts are going everywhere. The human audience is totally shocked and some little kid starts to cry. The female elite looks confused and just asks, "what? WHAT?" before the screen cuts immediately to commercials.
@NotARussianDisinfoBot listen to this video, then go over to one of the Mjolnir videos where we know it's actually him talking, and it's night and day. Real 00 speaks a little faster and varies his tempo, whereas this video has a completely flat and consistently slow voice through the whole thing. Also, notice the weird way commas are done and the unnatural amount of pauses. Real 00 does NOT pause that much in his talking.
Something that I found interesting with Halo lore is that, after the Forerunner reseeding, humanity essentially had to restart from scratch. Think about it, other species had ruins and artifacts almost immediately available. Humanity had been so thoroughly destroyed after the Forerunner-Human War we essentially got devolved so that we were not a problem. The humanity that we are might not even be the same as the ancient ones that were destroyed. That and the fact that the Forerunner ruin on Earth was buried a mile underground, we had to travel to other star systems before we started finding Forerunner tech. Most of what humanity did was done by our own hands, the San'shyuum and Sangheili mimicked forerunner tech, which is why they were so advanced. TDLR: humanity is awesome
@flyingfoamtv2169 forerunners are not human, humanity was essentially devolved by the forerunners before the rings were even built. It was only during/after reseeding that the forerunners gave humanity the keys to their tech.

As long as they’re not holding dual plasma rifles in halo 2 or a concussion rifle in halo reach then I feel the exact same way
YES
Same, same.. although the cultural taboo of Medical treatment for combat wounds throws me for a random loop, silly lore tidbit.
Many Elites also questioned the prophets decree of extermination of humanity.
As the war dragged on many warriors began to respect Human tenacity, resilience, and strength of spirit. Some calls to allow humans to join the Covenant were made albeit short lived after vicious responses by the Prophets.
Mhm. I do wonder if they feel shame in how they came so close to wiping us out because they was so blinded by the prophets with the war over
They definitely nailed it bringing the elites back to form in infinte.
Graceful and brutal.
