The spiders spawning inside the dragon and having correct pathfinding all the way to the player, while you never get a chance to see any of it is so on brand for DS2
its such a shame really. ds2 was a passion project. all of the little details confirm as much. but they just failed to stick the landing on where it really counted.
I didn't go into it more since I would be speaking over the music. But if you go listen the centipede/capra demon theme it has a cool creepy crawly effect, like skuttly insect legs. This, combined with the fact the track is named "Centipede Demon", makes me think it MIGHT be the centipedes theme... maybe.
Freya looks more like 2 spiders stuck end to end rather than one singular spider, as she has 4 distinct body segments where as spiders have 2. That being head/torso and abdomen which she has 2 of each. There are also 8 pairs not counting the extra more blade shaped limbs (which are likely her pedipalps to assist in eating) at the front, 2 small sets and 2 large sets of legs per side. So if she is 2 spiders then she would certainly have the correct number of legs.
I noticed the same thing. Reminds me of grafting in Elden Ring. Godrick + Freja as the Grafted Duo in Nightreign would be sick. Maybe even have Godrick riding Freja as a boss phase

Okay, that IS kinda cursed, but insects and arachnoids do have some solid hooks in their genitals and angeler fish females absorb one or several (tiny!) males into them... Might explain how she keeps producing endless spawn XD
She looks like this because she literally is two spiders stuck together. Early versions of her boss fight had possible plans for the bodies to split, putting you in a 2-on-1 situation ala The Maneater or Belfry Gargoyles. The final design de-emphasized this, but it's still obvious enough when you look that you were able to not only notice, but break it down that well. So good on you!

I should point out that it takes about 2/3rds of Freja's total HP to knock off a head, so the only way to softlock yourself in her fight is to heal her with Warmth.
Iirc, it's not a hard HP amount, it's a factor of how much damage is being dealt to a head over time, that decays over time. I've seen a head come off below half in multiplayer, for example, when the "passive" head gets beat up by two people at once, and I've seen it so that one head takes all the damage for the fight, but never actually gets knocked off, because it was a very slow fight. I've never actually had both come off before she died though. ...though I'm ALSO pretty sure this isn't actually a softlock, either, since, the removed heads still technically exist as valid hit zones, they're just set to block with 100% absorption. Weapons or attacks that bypass some amount of shield SHOULD also thus deal damage to where the head used to be. Small amounts, but not 0.
It will also inversely get more people to play ds2 too. Imo, It’ll be cool to see combinations fights - like alonne and isshin or atorias, ivory, and gale or kalemeet, shin, and midir, etc.
I make an event out of Limit Breakers' videos. Snacks, hot drink, blanket. If these videos were in theater, I'd get a front seat. Yes, I've heard this, too, but I've never tested it. Basically, the head stump still is an active hit location, it just begins "blocking" with 100% absorption to all damage types. Guard penetrating weapons or attacks can thus bypass some of that, and inflict chip damage

I like how there's a secret small pig at the camp by freja that only spawns 1/1000 times you sit at the bonfire. It can be killed enough times to have it's spawn depleted too, so if you want to deplete every spawn in the game you'll need to sit at that bonfire like 13,000 times
A debated theory is that the Storm King *is* Ornstein transformed, implied by his discarded armor with no body. I think the most blaring detail/parallel/lead is that the purple pigmentation and aggressively curled horns of the Storm King match that of the dragon form we get by using the Dragon Torso Stone, implying Ornstein achieved his new form through the Path of the Dragon. Midir was also purple, but that was from his daily abyss mukbangs. It's also stated in item descriptions that Ornstein "abandoned his post" in search of the Nameless King. ALSO... A theory on Nameless King's actual name is it being Gwynsen. Gwyn named all his children the same way, putting "Gwyn" before the rest, Sen's fortress in DS1 houses Man-Serpents whom we only see again in Archdragon Peak, The same Sen is never mentioned again, nor do we meet anybody by that name, and item descriptions state that his name was supposedly scrubbed from history upon his betrayal, so that's the reason why. Just dropping this here since I have nowhere else to say this

Thank you Old Man, you kindle the fire in my dark soul
it'll take a MIRACLE for me to get over the shit you pulled at 13:35
Every time I'm scared the channel is coming to an end, Old Man comes back with a banger. ❤
It is a good day when Old man limit uploads
nice touch with the shadow of the colossus music after defeating the centipide demon
14:30 I've Read That You Can Actually Damage Freja With Stuff Like Shield-Piercing Weapons, Such As The *Shotel*
Yes, I've heard this, too, but I've never tested it.
Basically, the head stump still is an active hit location, it just begins "blocking" with 100% absorption to all damage types. Guard penetrating weapons or attacks can thus bypass some of that, and inflict chip damage
Damn, that spooder jumpscare got me a little, even though i was watching on the phone with the headset in one ear 😂
Love the video, love your editing style, thanks for keeping making them Old Man ❤
A boss that you cant kill because you created 2 assholes is the most Dark Souls 2 thing ever
Old man has been awoken from his 3 month slumber🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was falling asleep and the RuneScape sound effect at 2:40 jolted me awake
We love you old man, great video ! Much love
"where's the miracle build" that took me down places I thought I would never go back to
actually, the baby dragon on DS1 on the ash lake also has feathers
Thank you old man, that was really interesting, please more
Im so happy for a new video grandpa
Thank you old man, it is good to see that you've not gone hollow.
I like how there's a secret small pig at the camp by freja that only spawns 1/1000 times you sit at the bonfire. It can be killed enough times to have it's spawn depleted too, so if you want to deplete every spawn in the game you'll need to sit at that bonfire like 13,000 times
I adore your videos old man! Many thanks!
I was just thinking about you (in a good way, don't have weird thoughts baka) and then you upload another banger! Thank you.
really cool how much detail they put into bosses, which you would likely never realize
10:28 she's technically two spiders conjoined tho right?
Layton Music?? Layton Music!!! Awesome :D
Wow, thanks for the Skies of Arcadia music!! one of ma fav jrpg's ^_^
Dabas' Theme caught me off guard. Love Legend of Dragoon.
Just dropping this here since I have nowhere else to say this
believable theory.
God I've missed you, Grandpa. Sorry I haven't watched your videos recently. I'll watch them now, I know how important it is to spend time with my old folks before they pass.
We haven't forgotten about the Miracle build, Old Man.
Worms and maggots do not have legs but they often have pairs of setae for each body segment. This segmentation of repeated units is also known as metamerism, which is wonderfully demonstrated with the burrowing rock worms. Cheers
It's moments like this that bring joy to my days. Good to see you again Old Man
Thank you so much for being entertaining and informative.
Impeccable music taste as usual; laytonbros we are eating good
LESS GOOO UR BACK
What you say in the thumbnail useless data ,its very interesting to me.Oldman your quality and effort you put in these videos is astonishing.Love you 😚
Centipede Demon got its own Cutscene, but Rellana didn't.
Never forget superior Centipede.
Old man, you remind me of the old days...
Well I WAS ready to go to sleep for the night... but your reign over such neat pieces of Souls data cannot be ignored. One day somebody will build a miracle-granting machine and all will be as it should!
Dukes dear Freya nr1 fan right here, reporting for duty
Nameless Kings moveset is also largely a combination between Gwyn and Ornstein's because they were both his mentors. Father and friend, respectively.
1:28 Sorry Old Man, but Oceiros (and the invisible Ocelotte model) also have feathers similar to those ones
I wonder if the centipede was originally intended to be sort of like the old iron king fight
I just placed an order for pizza, the store is about 4 minutes away, and I needed to spend 15 minutes since they'll be ready in 20. Perfect. Thanks for the upload.
The legend returns!!!
