I love how quickly you get across different character's motivations through their actions, The spec ops not only doubts the Minor's ability to hit the targets, but also his weapons effective range. Seeing that that is not enough to dissuade the Minor he takes it as a chance to teach - or perhaps simply test - going off to get a weapon that would be more effective. The Ultra is wearing damaged gear, but it's clear the group isn't in direct danger. Presumably they simply do not have the ability to fix his helmet. When he enter's the scene the Minor had *just* broken his weapon, of course the Ultra would be hesitant to give the good rifle to him. But he still lets him use it, and then walks off without checking if he even hits the enemies. He also remarks about letting the other one use it, presumably the Kig Yar. It's clear he respects the spec ops's judgement, the minor is to take the rifle. If he misses? lesson learned. If he hits them? Nice. Then there are the Grunt and Jackal, at first they come off as pestering, simply annoying to annoy, but as the short goes on and on re-watches it comes off as simply more casual. The are messing with eachother because they know eachother. Further, it becomes clear that the Minor does on some level care about them, they complain that the Minor gets the gun when the Jackal could do more with it, so he offers to let them shoot it. Also just how good the movement is, at no point does it feel like any single character is the focus of the animation, even when they are still. The frequent use of multiple actions as well as very snappy movement gives a lot of character to them. And seeing the Jackle lean back to look at the spartans instead of flipping over is really cute

Even two years later this is still one of the best animation projects on UA-cam. The clear smooth animations between all of them, the weight behind their actions and bodies, the unspoken camaraderie between them all, the fact that even though the spec-ops elite and the Ultra have clearly higher authority then the rest, they don’t seem irreverent of their underlings. All of it shows a clear care and passion for your craft, and can only hope in the years to come that you are given the opportunities to show more of your skills.
I love the simplicity of the videos goal or well the elite’s goal taking out the targets but goes very expressive with the character interactions, love how the Jackel seems so joyful saying hi and such and the grunt literally depicts a child tapping feet on rocks board waiting gets blinded by the beam rifle twice and just humorous subtle well done narration love it my respects👊 :)

I love this SO much. Really makes me want to get back to learning 3D animation, and that's no mean feat cuz I've kind of been stuck in an art block for years. Well done dude, well done.
The fact the subtitles exist! Love it
Please make a series holy shit, you already built recognizable characters. And the armour detail like the broken helmet is cool as hell
I would pay for a whole series of this
Your channel is criminally underrated! Fantastic work! You did an amazing job.
When a Jackal praises your sniping, you know you've done good.
God the anticipation for this was big! This is fucking amazing and Im glad I waited to see the final product!!
I love I watched this for 2 minutes and 39 seconds before realizing I could turn captions on and actually know what was being said
This animation really shows the craftsmanship put into this by the fact that you can understand what each of them are saying, even without subtitles, really well done!
This is so beautiful. I'd pay to see an entire season of a series of this beauty. So much potential. I felt relief that the covenant wasn't just that religious and too hard entirely, they also shared feeling and were living creatures too doing some social stuff, just like we humans do.
Looking very forward to see more of your work. ❤️
Amazing! Simply amazing! I love the animation, the environment sounds, the eye animation. This is just amazing!
I can imagine these trio serving the Covenant and going on wacky adventures with spec-ops being the minor older brother and encouraging whatever they do
I feel oddly proud for him and secondly I love how the Jackel and Grunt give him a thumbs up and congrant him for landing the shots, I hope we can see more of that trio
that was so well done the characters moved so naturally and it was quite funny thank you for making this exist
I didn't check for subtitles first, didn't understand a word they were saying. That made this so much better. The teamwork and care is just so wonderful to watch. Please make more of these, they're a treat!
That was pretty damn cool.
I love how it sounds like they’re having genuine conversations despite my non-understanding.
This is amazing! The animation is so well done! Honestly I love it and there’s so much potential for these characters. This video is such a great thing to watch.
This feels like the kind of thing the internet was made for
This is amazing it's so impressive Edit: how does this not have so many views this is insane the detail and artwork he has talent so skilled
Absolutely incredible!
I love how much character they each have
Unexpected video in my feed....10/10
Damn, I'd watch an entire movie like that
this would make a great series, especially for the minor elite. maybe he would rank up over time as his story.
same with the grunt and sniper jackal
I have rewatched this a concerning amount of times. Great work dude! I love the emotions conveyed by the characters! The subtitles are also really good, I think they actually improve it quite a bit.
Not only is this adorable, its also very, very well animated! I'd love to see more animations like this in the future! Wonderful little details too, like the Carbine's sights and the Jackal's little eye scope thingy.
The ANIMATION! It’s sooo good!
The facial expression in the elite, the way they move. It’s perfect!
This is the exact kind of Halo storytelling experience I want to see 343 make. Well done!
I hope to see this group more often, they have a lot of chemistry
The body language is so well animated that i dont need the subtitles
halo needs more short stories like this, very well done man
This needs to be a halo movie this is really good
Everything about this is perfect, because even though they’re considered monsters they still have emotion and feel things and this really sets it in that they’re just soldiers doing their job, also the best part is the detail in the eye when the ultra gets angry it goes from orange to red
This is actually amazing, so much character and personality and I don't even know what they're saying. That's not even mentioning the pure quality of the lighting and animation
For some reason I love all this species interacting
I love the addition of armor damage. I also enjoyed the personalities that were evident with each character.
Oh my gosh, I love this so much. God I wish we got the Halo Reach armour back. I loved the elite armour variations. They're so beautiful, especially when they're super reflective.
It’s like a slightly more respectful RVB, but on the Covenant side. I love it!!
This is amazing! Really well done! It’s funny, watching it back a second time with the subtitles on was super worth it hahaha.
This is super dope! Like how it got really wholesome at the end
Amazing! I love seeing the Halo universe from the side of the Covenant. I also appreciate the battle damage on the elites, nice touch.
I like how these covenant are just a group of boys hanging out. It might not be totally lore accurate, but shows that they aren't just evil machines, but have actual connections with each other. Really cute scene
the true halo show
I've watched this multiple times since it was uploaded and watching it again, multiple times over. I can't get enough how well done this is.
The Kig’yar bent over backwards instead of turning around
Fitting personality for the weirdest species of the covenant
The caption understands them and its awesome
Their interactions were so adorable
I just discovered this a few years late but it's brilliant! I also would have loved to have had an entire show just of the antics of this group! I love that they feel like comrades, maybe even friends. This is so professional and wonderful! Thank you for this, I love it! 😎👍
They're so wholesome
You beat me to saying it lol this is very wholesome
There is so much small detail in this... from the carbine's sights fading in and out, to the damage it receives when the minor accidentally smashes it, to the damaged armor the elites wear, to the Ultra's helmet eye glow narrowing at 1:46 to 1:51.
This is so awesome!
Revisiting 2 years later.
Still in love.💙
They aren't speaking any earth language but I still understand them. The visual story telling is on point. God job
