Great idea guys, I will definitely be using this idea. I just started in wood working a little over a year ago and I am impressed at how the wood working community shares ideas. Keep up the good work Ronnie.

Another tip. Use a trim router to add a 45° chamfer around the base of the legs to reduce splitting when furniture is being moved/slid. It looks better too.

I'm gonna try these felt pads on the back of my dartboard to see if they'll protect the wall better. I'm also hoping that stacking a couple of these will make my board quieter as well.

Not a fan of the inset idea because within time the pad is going to flatten to where the bare wood is on the floor regardless of how think the pad is. I'm getting ready to replace all pads on my bedroom furniture that were put on 5 yrs. ago for that exact reason.

I think i will just glue mine down lol. Also larger pad for that size of leg. As soon as you get a kid on the chair up on two legs or you lift the chair to back out it will help keep the edges from scratching.

I agree with the 3/4” when the leg isn’t tapered. 1/2” would be better than 3/8” when it is tapered and I agree that a router to round the edges to keep the wood from splitting.

How does this hold up long term? Is the recess enough to prevent the felt pad from coming off? Does the felt get compressed so much that there is wood to wood contact between the chair and floor?

Not sure what your timeline for "long term" is but it's been a year since I did this on a piece for the house. Granted, it doesn't get moved around much so I haven't tested it out. It's worth a try to see how it does. Thanks for watching!
