The EVA stuff was interesting. You get lower efficiency from firing multiple thrusters, but the greater thrust means you take less time time to reach orbit, which means you can make the initial assent flatter and more efficient. I wonder quantitatively just how efficient overall this assent method is compared to using one thruster with a higher starting suborbit. Good shit Mr. Whistance, although I'm still disappointed with the lack of KSC aerobatics.
You had me at "Kedex". :) I haven't touched KSP for a couple of months as I was in a bit of a rut just doing fairly boring career missions in my latest playthrough. This inspires me to get creative again. Thanks Brad!
I mostly want to know how to make rotor air/space craft that work on Eve, I have no intention of making a small craft but I would love somthing that could take ore and or 4 kerbals to eve orbit in a reusable craft
How am I early AGAIN!? Either way, an Impressive Mission Plan, Sending ANYTHING to eve and back is no small feat, especially a craft so light great work as usual Bradley!
How efficient would be an Eve ascent profile: 1) First lifting beyond the atmosphere, then achieving orbital velocity there. You spend much shorter time exposed to drag. 2) Slowly ascending with wings to the edge of atmosphere, then doing Profile 1. The fast-then-lift profile may be the most efficient on Kerbin, but Eve is a different environment.
Atmospheric drag isn't the only challenge, remember that Eve also has the highest gravity and second highest escape velocity of all the orbital bodies in the game. Your ascent profile must manage this in the best way possible (while also allowing for atmo drag) or you ain't gettin' home son. Fighting your way straight up (or close to straight up) incurs a big DV penalty.
OK so, last video I commented that I'd was hoping to see this. And while it's nice to have my clairvoyant powers confirmed, DID YOU REALLY HAVE TO DO IT SO WELL!? I have yet to ssto from eve with 6000t and you have done it with 6 wtf!
I am not entirely clear on the propeller engines. Did you use 2 'EM-16S light duty rotors' or 2 'Rotation Servo M-06' servos'? If the former, could you scrape off a whole less then 2 kg of engine mass by fitting a single 'driver' EM-16S light duty rotor with all the propellers and mounting this assembly using a free-spinning unmotorized 'Rotation Servo M-06' servos'?
I use inflatable airlocks for that. Still refills EVA fuel and weight only 100kg. Also, allows you to store experiments from a Kerbal after boarding. And you can use it to dock to docking port jr.
I think if you're willing to do the work of pushing a command pod in a consistent direction for hours on end, you deserve the reward of infinite fuel. ;)
@@MaskFky Maybe you’re used to playing RO, but in stock KSP all liquid-fuel engines (including jet engines) can throttle from 0% to 100%. At 0:23, the RAPIER is throttled down to about 5% thrust, and is throttled back up to 100% at 0:25. The nuclear engine is turned on at 0:33. Could these be the things that are confusing you? When the RAPIER is in closed-cycle mode, its exhaust has a purple tinge. That is seen nowhere in this video, so Brad never used that mode.

2 videos in only two weeks and the odyssey is coming back. Thank you Bradley.

Why does this guys voice make me feel safe
His confidence and happiness, perhaps?
It sounds like he calls liquid fuel "Liquid Feel"
I look forward to the Bill Rescue, and as usual, keep up the Great Work!
I would love to see a video of the process you engineering such a project.
Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I honestly think that much of it would be like trying to decipher an ancient Egyptian stone tablet. :)

Brad, why must you be so good at KSP
You don't exist! Well, you do in my 1991 atlas.

The players of this game will never cease to amaze me
I always learn so much from brads videos
Lost it at "Kedex delivery truck"
At this rate Bradley is gonna achieve God status and we are gonna get a video titled "Kerbol system grand tour on one monopropellant booster alone"
That would be utterly amazong
Truly awe inspiring
Love the work that you put into these vids! :D
Yay! Bradley uploaded! And there will be another Odyssey of Bill!

Yes! The Oddysey by Bill will live on!

Why did you skip the complete re entry of the plane, and went directly to the landing on Eve?
Now just gotta make it full ssto
Oi I’m actually early to Bradley’s video!
Have you considered using helicopter blades instead of wings? They have some interesting properties.

You can't really use servos for propellers. Servos max out at about 10-20 RPM, while even low-end rotors get up to >180 RPM.
awesome
What's your opinion on using a command pod to infinitely refill a kerbal's EVA fuel?
This is no longer possible since you have to bring fuel for the kerbals in the command pot.
I use inflatable airlocks for that. Still refills EVA fuel and weight only 100kg. Also, allows you to store experiments from a Kerbal after boarding. And you can use it to dock to docking port jr.

You should get a refueling space station.
Get out and push for the win.
Do something with RRS
Why wasnt his oxidiser going down when he switched to rocket mode?
Because he never switched the RAPIER into rocket mode.
