Hello.
Thanks for the video, am trying to corn myself and i am using exactly the same brand you are but the seeds are not germinating. I don't know what to do. I would really appreciate your advice.
Thanks
@@mussamsoma4415Many reason that seeds did not germinate well. first you need to check seed expiration date, second soil mixture for seedling, third sowing too deep also make the seed cannot germinate
@@mussamsoma4415 You could look for corn in a supermarket, the kind that is yellow and fresh.
Of those used to make tortillas.
That if or if it germinates.
also check that the corn is not too old or has holes in it.
Grow corn?
This is what we're here to do but we let ourselves too dependent on grocery stores and Netflix. Sad, it's a honorable trade. Growing your own food, is powerful.
It’s really relaxing too😊
@@annaisjustbetter IDK about relaxing... it's relaxing until your plant decides to self-die and you can't figure out why it's trying to pull epstein. Except epstein didn't kill himself. ;)
Expensive startup if you rent and don’t have much grass or land. But should work out in the long run Re using soil in containers. Think I have over 150 plants in containers this year. Started gardening a year ago and grew up with it so it feels good
@@cybertones942 Yeah I exclusively grow in containers too. It makes it a lot easier to exchange the soil to prevent disease, its a lot more water/feed efficient (which saves a lot of labor), and you can move them around to maximize your space.
I'm slowly converting to hydroponics though. I'm using old green vegetation seeped in 5 gallon buckets to make the liquid feed. I tried worm tea but its not strong enough for hydroponics. The dirt from the worms however is awesome as a seed starting medium though as it is extremely clean. No mold or other junk even if you overwater.
@@DaveSmith-cp5kjold vegetation seeped means????
Is it typo for seaweed????
Please clear my doubt, I want to know what hydroponic nutrition you are using👍
I never seen it grown in containers tbh! I’ve only growing it in the ground 😮 nice to see your earning them up when the roots are exposed! 😊
I do not have the available space to grow in the ground. So I turned the roof top to grow vegetables
Live in apt with a balcony…I grow everything in containers….fruit trees, corn, etc etc
That’s Cool
Beautiful corn, thank you for this video, I’ve never had luck growing corn, but will definitely try it this way
I must say that I thought that corn couldn't grow in containers... Thank you for this video!
It can grow in container and also give us a good result
Wow amazing ang tataba ng mais ang lalaki ng bunga thank you for sharing video may na tutonan ako sa pag tanim nang mais enjoy harvest done sa the best video
Love this!
Absolutely beautiful right on👍🏼
Love the preparation for the corn plants I will prepare some for the first time I have learned a lot thanks for sharing my friend keep up the great planting I have a little garden I am watching from Amelia's Ward linden town Guyana south America
Thank you so much for watching my video
Wow! I like to eat sweet corn. Thank for sharing I will try to grow it at home
🙋🏻♀️ buddy.. Loved your video😊 I'm from Mumbai India.. i went to this food classes in a restaurant n met maxico chefs n learn about corn n recipes.. So i got purple, yellow, white n black corn seeds.. and i wanted to grow on the terrace😍 i have good sun but it is humid n ya from June 1st week we will get rain for say 3 months pouring.. i have straws n good soil .. thank you so much for detailed video.. wish me luck n suggest if i have up keep something in mind.. thank you❤❤
Whaaaa?
Most fools understand the value of sweet corn and do not grow it at all. Yeah, it do grow. Bless.
This is what i was looking for growing it in bucket ❤
I love east west seeds. Thats all i grow. The yields are always amazing
your garden looks great! thank you for sharing this video!
Thanks for visiting
videos like this makes me appreciate grocery stores more and how convenient vegetables and fruits are.
I love how humans have different perspectives because seeing videos like this make me realize how unhealthy mass farming is for our planet and how poor the food quality is compared to a smaller scale like this. 🤷🏻♂️🙂✌️
Great video!
how to prepare your container do they have hole below part, thank you
I drill some holes in the side of container maybe 3cm from the bottom of container.
Very impressive Sir!
Thank you kindly!
Beautiful corn and stalks!

@@V87Garden you're welcome 😁
Thanks you for sharing this
You're welcome
Add a "Bean" and a "melon" type plant too. I personally mix cuccumbers and pintos with small zucc's (i harvest small) and peas. The corn makes the trellis for the beans and climbing melons. If you dont mind the ground cover, you can do pumpkins/watermelons too but i find those sprawl to much for buckets. These 3 together "feed" each other to some degree, its known as the "3 sisters". :D
Try totes next.
You have a brilliant idea. I will try corn with cucumber and watermelon.
@@V87Garden cucumber and watermelon are both melon types, youd need a bean still. IE, Corn, Pinto, Watermelon or corn, black beans, cucumbers.
I afraid that small container cannot handle it
3 sisters only works w/certain zones, certain plants, and definitely not w/container planting. Ppl give this type of "growing method" way too much credit. At his situation he'll actually get more benefit growing everything hydroponically.
I did that and my melon died.
It took quite long to harvest. So impressive for your hard work.
Yes, thanks
How long should it be?
@@NIP28
it takes between 4 months to 6 months, depending on the variety and the humidity with which you want to harvest it.
75 days is around 2 months n 15 days man do the dang math.
Very interesting! Thanks.

Good video
I see some of the ears were not fully pollinated. Next time gather and pollinate by hand to ensure full ears.
Interesting. Hope you also let us see the stuff that you put on your corns , so we can also harvest good crops.
Thank for you interested my video, I have provide subtitle in the video for all stuff that I used.

I love your videos and I watch them over and over again. You deserve a higher subscribers. I share your video always.
Did you harvest the corn same day you opened them up or left them for additional days? Again what variety is best for sweet corn? The one I planted months ago is called honey king super F1 and it didn't do well and not sweet at all.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing my video.
Yes, I harvest corn at the same day when I open them up.
F1 seeds are a good choice for planting.
To get good corn, take care from the time of sowing, planting and fertilizing properly.
Make sure you do not get GMO corn seeds.
@@nbeizaie Yeah, I can't stand genetic changes that didn't come about from radiation or exposure to chemical mutagens. Those methods are so much more natural and healthy than direct genomic modifications!
Dolt.
@@stevenschnepp576 There is nothing wrong with GMO as a process. It's as natural as cross pollination, they just cut off all the bad/superfluous offspring and time it would take and go direct to the phenotype they want. The reason you don't want GMO corn is because it is almost always modified for the purposes of heavy starch for making things like corn flour.
That said, the easy solution is to just plant kernels of uncooked corn you already like to eat like what you get from the grocery store. It just involves dehydrating the kernels and snapping them off. If you like popcorn, you can also grow the popcorn kernels.
Thank you. Do you hand pollinate the corn? Would it work to use indeterminate corn seeds, so that you could get 3-4 ears of corn?
You're welcome. I did not do hand pollination in this video. It is good to do pollination to get more corn
Great work 👍 How many hours of direct sunlight does corn need to grow?
Can corn grow in indirect sunlight? Also I would have loved to see the root ball!!
Corn need 6-8 hours direct sunlight to grow well.
Corn needs as much direct sunlight as you can give it.
Excellent
Thanks
Good job
Thanks
Can somebody tell me why did he open the corn before he harvested it afterwards? Is that a standard procedure or for that variety only? Thank you! I am really curius.
I open it because I want to show inside corn
I just started gardening last year. For all vegetation, I just thought all ya had to do was put a seed in ground in sunny location, give it water, and watch it grow! I was living in fantasy land.
Well, that’s pretty much the the basics of gardening. - toss a seed(s), water it moderately, give it sun (make sure your plant if for your climate) and just take care of it, like you would with a child.
Exercise common sense, like don’t overwater or dry it out, check for pests, etc.
The fertilizer are really unnecessary additives. You really think that thousands of years ago when these crops were being grown in mass, you think they had commercial fertilizers? No. In fact, many people still grow their corn fields without fertilizer and all the fancy additives.
To be fair, that's true of some plants. Strawberries and raspberries are weeds here, and you can't not grow radishes and potatoes if they find soil. Alliums are practically unstoppable, too.
What is that you keep adding to your buckets soil and the gray stuff? Interesting.
It is compost that I add to bucket soil.
Wow
What kind of nutrition did you give it through the water when you watered them? If any at all.
Mostly I use kitchen waste liquid fertilizer but for this sweet corn I did not use any liquid fertilizer I only apply compost.
I love this! Will more corn grow or do you have to restart from seed again?
Thank you, I have to restart from seed again
Hi, you can grow another row of buckets of corn 2 week later. Make 3 rows of them; then, you have corn to eat for awhile.
This is really amazing
It would be nice to know it drain holes in bucket and is that compost you're putting in the?
I drill some holes in the side of container maybe 3cm from the bottom of container. I use two different compost (quail manure and cow manure compost) you can check link in description for more detail
Did you put holes in the bottom of your 5 gal buckets? Thanks for a great video.!
I did not put holes in the bottom of container but I put some holes on a side of container
@@V87Garden Thank you from Greenville, NC--USA
You're welcome
Good for fibre.! Nutrition??
What kind of soils did you use in to plant the seeds in the trays? Also do you have to have holes in the buckets ?
I used my own soil mixture you can check in my playlist soil mixture. I drill some holes in the side of container maybe 3cm from the bottom of container.
Hope you can answer me but I want to do this with my corns I grew from seed I'm wondering how many holes did you do at the bottom of the bucket?
I drill some holes in the side of container maybe 3cm from the bottom of container.

do u have seeds present@@V87Garden
currently I do not have it.
Where did you get the stand to sit the buckets on?
Hmm, I do it myself.
Interesting video. Did you use the leaves you took? if so, what are they used for?
The leaves that I took I put it in compost bin
@@V87Garden Good to know. Thanks
How many drainage holes did you put in the containers?
Also what did you put the seeds in?
Sorry I’m new to all this 🙈🙈
I drilled 4 holes on the side about 3cm from the bottom of the container
@@V87Garden thank you 🙏🏼
I’ve got the same size here 🥰
Did you just put the seeds in compost?
@@sueaustin9295 No I didnot put the seed in the compost. I do proper sowing with soil mixture. You can check in playlist name soil mixture and looking for video how to prepare soil mixture for staring seed
Hi beautiful corn! How do you keep pests away?
During I grow the corn there is no pests attack. But you can try with organic pesticide in my playlist name Pesticide
He grew the corns on a building's roof top, so most butterflies, moths... don't get up there. If you grow corns and other plants, you can keep pests away by growing some companion plants like lemon grass, mums or other kinds of edible chrysanthemum families. I have those mixing in my raised beds this season, and some of my veggie plants don't get attacked by pests so far. The strong scene really keep pests away
Would it be too ambitious to try growing three stalks in one container? 🤔
Hmm! Let me try next round
Très bon résultats, tout le monde peut le faire
Yes, you can try it
Hi, May i know which fertilizer are you using ?
I use compost
What kind of fertilizer do you use
I use quail and cow manure compost
Very good clip. Less talk, more action, more real results clips like this would be more helpful than clips where people keep blah blah while all the actions were burrying corn seeds in the soil.
Thank you for watching
I’m curious. Why do seedling in a tray and then plant in bucket. Why not just plant in bucket???
Good question, seedling in a tray easy to choose a good seed to plant in bucket
I noticed you seem to top up covering exposed roots with 2 different soils could you please advise on what they were as I'm planning to try this tomorrow .
I apply compost and cover it with garden soil
Can you share your soil mixing procedures
You can check in my playlist name Soil mixture
Do you make holes in the bottom to delete excessive water?
I drilled some hole from a side maybe 3cm form the buttom of container
@@V87Garden ok! your videos are great!
What the type of fertilizer that you use?
I use only compost
What do you use as fertilizer?
I use only compost
How you prepared the soil pls
You can check on my playlist for (soil mixture).
how did you pollinate you didnt show that part!
In this video i did not show hand pollination.
👍🏻💗
thank you for your vid :) . I 've a question : why do you remove the green leaves/skin over the corn ? is it better for the fruits ?
I remove the green skin from the corn because I want to show the corn flesh
Where did you get the metal frames from?
I do it myself because I have welding machine
I knew you would say that
Welding is actually not that hard, so don't let that scare you. You can get yourself setup with SMAW stick welding using a mini welding machine for about $100-150 total investment. Plenty of tutorials on youtube. Welding with a mini welder is much harder than a full power machine, but once you learn how to do it, you will have zero issues on a real machine if you ever have to use it.
Quick q's do you puncture holes in the tubs?
Yes, I do. I drilled some holes in the side of container not on the bottom.
@@V87Garden Great thanks. from Australia
You're welcome
😋
I know I'm a bit late to add advice, but those husks were still growing! You should have left them for another week or so. Also, stripping them on the stalk is robbing yourself of shelf life!
Thank for your advice
Where are you located. What zone?
I live In asia (Cambodia)
Which fertilizer do you use?
I use only compost (quail manure and cow manure compost)
What size container did you use?
Size 20liter
How do you plant all red seeds and harvest all yellow seeds
The seeds are colored because they are F1 Seeds that have been soaked in pesticide
I had tried corn in containers. Made lot of efforts in hand pollination. But kernels did not form on them. Please explain how could you get all kernels in each cob. How did you protect the plant from pests
Great that you can do hand pollination this could help corn produce more kernels. for my sweet corn I do not do hand pollination because during my growing season alot of air blow and I also have space for each plant. Many reason to get a lot of kernels such as good seeds, water, and apply compost regularly.
some of my sweet corn also got a little bit kernel. To prevent pests you can use organic pesticide (you can check in my playlist name Pesticide).
Maybe try arranging your bucks in a square formation and not in a row? That way you’re more likely to have at least some of your corn get pollinated. If the wind blows the wrong way your pollen could just float away in the wind and you’ll never know. 🤷🏻♂️
Aren’t videos like this peaceful and inspiring? Love it. 🇨🇦

Nice... So how come you didn't get to fight any caterpillars... Mine was ravaged with caterpillars. It cost me a lot of losses😞
Probably because there are not many butterflies in my area, so there are no caterpillars.
Hehe its hail stone y should worry bout
I would buy a light net fabric and sew it like a drawstring bag and drape it over your plants. Get a fine mesh so it doesn't hinder the light too much.
My daughter put my grand daughters hamster cage in a shower. Didnt take long for corn to start growing out of the drain!!
I can imagine that was funny 😆 and upsetting 😤
