      @@mussamsoma4415Many reason that seeds did not germinate well. first you need to check seed expiration date, second soil mixture for seedling, third sowing too deep also make the seed cannot germinate

      Expensive startup if you rent and don’t have much grass or land. But should work out in the long run Re using soil in containers. Think I have over 150 plants in containers this year. Started gardening a year ago and grew up with it so it feels good

    • @DaveSmith-cp5kj
      @DaveSmith-cp5kj 8 місяців тому

      @@cybertones942 Yeah I exclusively grow in containers too. It makes it a lot easier to exchange the soil to prevent disease, its a lot more water/feed efficient (which saves a lot of labor), and you can move them around to maximize your space.
      I'm slowly converting to hydroponics though. I'm using old green vegetation seeped in 5 gallon buckets to make the liquid feed. I tried worm tea but its not strong enough for hydroponics. The dirt from the worms however is awesome as a seed starting medium though as it is extremely clean. No mold or other junk even if you overwater.

    Add a "Bean" and a "melon" type plant too. I personally mix cuccumbers and pintos with small zucc's (i harvest small) and peas. The corn makes the trellis for the beans and climbing melons. If you dont mind the ground cover, you can do pumpkins/watermelons too but i find those sprawl to much for buckets. These 3 together "feed" each other to some degree, its known as the "3 sisters". :D
    Try totes next.

      @@stevenschnepp576 There is nothing wrong with GMO as a process. It's as natural as cross pollination, they just cut off all the bad/superfluous offspring and time it would take and go direct to the phenotype they want. The reason you don't want GMO corn is because it is almost always modified for the purposes of heavy starch for making things like corn flour.
      That said, the easy solution is to just plant kernels of uncooked corn you already like to eat like what you get from the grocery store. It just involves dehydrating the kernels and snapping them off. If you like popcorn, you can also grow the popcorn kernels.

    • @darthjarjar5309
      @darthjarjar5309 Рік тому

      Well, that’s pretty much the the basics of gardening. - toss a seed(s), water it moderately, give it sun (make sure your plant if for your climate) and just take care of it, like you would with a child.
      Exercise common sense, like don’t overwater or dry it out, check for pests, etc.
      The fertilizer are really unnecessary additives. You really think that thousands of years ago when these crops were being grown in mass, you think they had commercial fertilizers? No. In fact, many people still grow their corn fields without fertilizer and all the fancy additives.

      He grew the corns on a building's roof top, so most butterflies, moths... don't get up there. If you grow corns and other plants, you can keep pests away by growing some companion plants like lemon grass, mums or other kinds of edible chrysanthemum families. I have those mixing in my raised beds this season, and some of my veggie plants don't get attacked by pests so far. The strong scene really keep pests away

      Welding is actually not that hard, so don't let that scare you. You can get yourself setup with SMAW stick welding using a mini welding machine for about $100-150 total investment. Plenty of tutorials on youtube. Welding with a mini welder is much harder than a full power machine, but once you learn how to do it, you will have zero issues on a real machine if you ever have to use it.

    • @V87Garden
      @V87Garden  Рік тому

      Great that you can do hand pollination this could help corn produce more kernels. for my sweet corn I do not do hand pollination because during my growing season alot of air blow and I also have space for each plant. Many reason to get a lot of kernels such as good seeds, water, and apply compost regularly.
      some of my sweet corn also got a little bit kernel. To prevent pests you can use organic pesticide (you can check in my playlist name Pesticide).

    • @mclovin9578
      @mclovin9578 11 місяців тому

      Maybe try arranging your bucks in a square formation and not in a row? That way you’re more likely to have at least some of your corn get pollinated. If the wind blows the wrong way your pollen could just float away in the wind and you’ll never know. 🤷🏻‍♂️
