3 lines. Penn Line (Perryville-DC Amtrak owned tracks), and then there's the Brunswick line (Martinsburg, WV-DC via CSX trackage) and Camden Line (Camden Yards, BA, MD-DC, also operates on CSX tracks).
If you want consistently good action, go with the Penn Line. The other two lines you'll never know on what days you go.

Trains are actually some of the most enviro friendly transport motors out there. Diesel is way more economic than Gasoline, and trains provide mass transport...
What still upsets me is the fact that we dont hear csx blow it
Freight travel is highly unpredictable. Some days you go you might see nothing other days you'll see them lining up passing every 10 minutes or so.
The train and the place looks uniquely beautiful.

You should have added that none of the lines operate on the weekends, even though they are working to change that on the Penn Line.

Better to catch the CSX on weekends when you'll see them at all kinds of day. You go Mo-Fri don't go early in the morning or PM rush times unless you just want the MARC. This video aside, CSX tends to do their operations outside of MARC peak times to avoid contending with their traffic.
P.S.: CSX used to dispatch their MARC trains for Camden and Brunsick lines, but no more.

Well,Most commuter rail services have coach-cabs and it's only ment to have brakes,throttle and other normal stuff.Most of the suporrt comes from the main engine on the back.During the afternoon rush they have the main engine as the front (not the cab coach).But it's only the morning rush they have the cab coach in the front. :3
If you don't mind me asking, how do you know when the trains are going to come through other than observing when they come through? some kind of schedule or something?
